A ca. 1850 linen press of Montreal origin. It is of cherry with pine secondary wood. The drawer fronts are natural and the case has an old crazed dark ... morebrown finish. The three lower drawers have false keyholes with inlay. All of the hardware is original to the piece (iron hinges and porcelain drawer pulls). It is one piece and stands 80” tall, 54 & 1/2” wide and 22” deep. It is of square nailed construction. We've owned and used it for 30 years and I can attest that it holds a lot. I haven't done a thing to it since I've owned it other than used it for its intended purpose. The upper door panels are split and the back legs are thin but other than that it shows only typical wear from use. It appears to be completely original and will give many, many more years of service. Pick up only.

Having just been restored by my very experienced restorer(50 years) it is consequently in excellent condition and is ready for immediate use in the home or for retailing in a prestigious showroom or fair. The second thing that strikes you about this linen press is the colour and patination. The cabinetmaker that made this table chose some very good quality timbers for the job. This has resulted all these years later in a linen press with a gorgeous soft rich warm colour and patination that can only be attained by mahogany of this age and quality. Thirdly are the proportions. The design of this linen press is just right and the table benefits from having a good balance, meaning that it“sits” well with a real“presence” Now we know everything on ebay is“fantastic” glorious” superb” brilliant” magnificent” greatest” resplendent” superior” etc etc but when we say this is a

All Cherry, New Jersey, c.1780 This is one of the best of the New Jersey school linen presses we have handled. We are impressed with the panels. Particularly their shaping and construction. Note the back of each door, which is chamfered, indicating a very thick single board panel. The construction is superb. Note the stop-fluting flanking the panel doors. Also, note the cuts outs on the front and side views of the feet. This piece was for a fine country home and, in its time, this would have been the highlight of a good-sized bedroom or dressing room. Note the backboards and the continuity ... morein wood color and oxidation from top to bottom. This piece has not been moved much in its time and is a very choice piece of New Jersey furniture which often is taken for rural Connecticut origin. It is all original with the exception of the hinges. Height: 75 3/4 in. Width: 45 in. Depth: 18 1/2 in. ANTIQUE WILLIAM IV LINEN PRESS - FLAME MAHOGANY - ARCHED DOORS - WARDROBE
Church Street Antiques has been trading in London's famous Marylebone antiques district for twenty-five years Specializing in English antique furniture 1750-1920. We have a large stock. Including dining furniture, bedroom furniture, and drawing room furniture, as well as lighting and ornamental pieces. This antique partners pedestal desk has to be the best model I've ever had. It's absolutely stunning& fabulous quality too. I can't possibly list all the incredible feature. But I'll try a bit, so please enlarge all the images to see for yourselves. I would date it to around the 1890-1910 period. It's burr walnut, figured walnut& solid walnut, plus it has the original brass handles. There is a shaped tooled leather writing surface& there are pull out leather topped slides on either side. The top section has ... moreconvexed ends all the way around, including the drawers. It has beautifully shaped burr walnut panels on the outside& inside the pedestal. All the edges are curved& it sits on ogee bracket feet. There are drawers to the front, plus a single drawer on the top section of the back& cupboards below, with shelves inside. The burr walnut is really tight& the drawers are finely dovetailed. This desk also has a lovely original colour& comes apart into three sections. I don't think it's quite sitting together perfectly in the images, which is why you may spot the odd slight gap where the top sits on the pedestals. In fact I can see it's not lined up straight. This desk has just been restored& polished, with locks& keys, so it's in good condition. Width- 64" 162 cm Depth- 39.5" 100 cm Height- 29.5" 75 cm Knee hole height- 24" 60 cm. Please note if looking on eBay- UK delivery charge mentioned is only for England& Wales. So always ask for other areas. The international shipping estimate is very loosely based on USA shipping, so again please ask first. As with all of my items. One might find the odd indentation or marking

FABULOUS, ORIGINAL, 18TH CENTURY ENGLISH MAHOGANY WOOD SCREW LINEN PRESS
ANTIQUE 18TH C. ENGLISH LINEN PRESS(PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS BELOW THE DESCRIPTION) Local Pick- Up is Preferred by I will consider shipping) This is an incredible and beautiful. Antique Linen Press, made in England around the mid 1700's. These linen screw presses were a must for the servants of any affluent household in order to properly press the linen and napkins. They would put linen between the table top portion and the flattening board, turn the handles, which in turn moves the large center corkscrew and lowers the board down on the linen with a heavy force, which would press the linen. This all original example is made from Mahogany and is just beautiful. It is in excellent condition with a wonderful patina. The construction does not use nails, but is held together with wooden pegs and joints. There is one drawer using dovetail construction ... moreand made of pine on the sides and bottom. The finial sits at a height between 57" 145cm) to 66" 168cm) depending on how high or low the board is turned. It is 26" 66cm) W x 16" 4cm) D. This is a museum quality piece and will fit into any collection. I am a private seller and believe the price is well below the market value, but I will consider reasonable offers. Please ask any questions and I will try to answer them. Local pick-up is preferred, however I can ship the press, but please considered the additional cost of crating and shipping. Please ask for a shipping estimate to your location.
