There are a few marks in the margins of a few of the maps. This will be evident in the scanned images. Which are high quality and unedited. They are all guaranteed to be 102 years old. Cartographer A.K. Johnston Size/ Format Map: 26 cm x 19.5 cm(10.25" x 7.75" Page: 30 c. X 25 cm(12" X 9.75" Condition Very good. There is a printed tear-sheet on the back of the frame that reads as follows: For this map of the western coastal regions of Mexico. Blaeu again took an earlier published map as his model. By way of the Hondius map of 1606. Blaeu's map goes back to the map published by the Antwerp mapmaker Abraham Ortelius in 1579, its self probably based on a slightly ... moreearlier manuscript map. Despite the implication in the title, the map does not cover all of the province of New Spain, only a portion of modern Mexico. At the time the region was described as being rich in gold and silver. With pearl fishing carried on in the coastal areas. The numerous salt lakes produced the finest salt by means of evaporation, and much was also made of the sugarcane cultivated here. In the east of the mapped area. Below the large title: cartouche may be seen the city of Mexico, situated on the shores of a large lake, described as an ample City, queen of all cities in the New World.
