Antique Vintage Hand Painted 1800s Wood Sign "Boarding House"
This sign was found mounted to a wall as a shelf in an old Galena. Illinois house. It is painted both sides but one side is soiled/stained/dirty from being used as a shelf. I have not attempted ANY cleaning of the sign, it is just as I found it. There are screw holes from the wall brackets when I removed it, and a couple small nails. The curved edge looks like the wood might have been trimmed but there is still some original paint there. Size of the sign is 8 1/2" x 36" Look at the pictures to judge condition. Considering the age of the building it was found in and the history of Galena, the sign probably dates from the 1850s to 1890s. Shipping by USPS, US sales only.

Lovely Unusual Vintage Hand Painted Wood Frog Bathroom Plaque Sign 1970s
You are invited to bid on this unusual vintage hand painted wooden bathroom sign. Dating to approximately the 1970s. It has been beautifully and expertly hand painted with an image of two frogs- one is climbing through the weeds on the side of a pond, the other is just pulling itself out of the water. In the middle it says'Bath-room' The art-work is beautiful, but it has been done on an unusually shaped piece of wood- I'm not quite sure where it was intended to go and how it would have been displayed. But it is very pretty. The plaque measures just over 11" tall. By almost 3" across at the bottom. It bears no signature. It is in good condition with very minor wear to the edges. Vintage Carnival Game Concession Sign Letter S Painted Wood (read details)
Only the letter is included in this auction. Not the old ride. Just wanted to give you an idea where they came from. The letters are 12 inches high and 8 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick wood. They each have a metal eyelet that was used to hang the letters on a board. Doing it this way they could change the sign without making a new one. The carnival was operated thoughout the southeast and midsouth from the late 50's through the 60's. The letters were in barrels and boxes and as you can see have suffered some abuse. Some are white. Some are blue, some are red, but all are scraped up and look like they have been painted several times over the years. I will combine shipping as much as possible and will be listing several over the next few days.

Vintage Carnival Game Concession Sign Letter 5*s Painted Wood (read desc)
These stars are about 5 1/2 inches across. I have tried to find out how they were used but have not been successful. Each has a steel wire attached to it. I have about 120 of them and selling them in lots of 5. This fair/carnival outfit ran an average of 6 concessions at each event. Usually working 4-5 events at the same time across NC, SC,GA andFL. Their home base was near Fayetteville NC. The operation started in the late 50's and ran until the late 70's when they sold out. Many of the letters and signs are beyond use. However, the letters and signs you see listed have been cleaned with an organic mixture that removes any dirt, mildew or mold. Most were stored in a metal trailer and if you have ever been to NC in the summer you know the intense heat and humidity they have been xposed to inside the trailer. Thus, the poor condition ... moreof the paint. Only the letter is included in this auction. Not the old ride. Just wanted to give you an idea where they came from. The letters are 12 inches high and 8 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick wood. They each have a metal eyelet that was used to hang the letters on a board. Doing it this way they could change the sign without making a new one. The carnival was operated thoughout the southeast and midsouth from the late 50's through the 60's. The letters were in barrels and boxes and as you can see have suffered some abuse. Some are white. Some are blue, some are red, but all are scraped up and look like they have been painted several times over the years. I will combine shipping as much as possible and will be listing several over the next few days.

Vintage/Antique OLD Wood NO SHOOTING Sign- Black Hand-painted lettering on a SOLID WOOD plank with beveled edges. Measures 20 inches wide by 9 1/2" tall and it is about 3/4 of an inch thick. It says: POSITIVELY NO SHOOTING OR TRESPASSING ON THESE PREMISES" The wood plank appears to be a single 3/4" thick solid piece of wood(not made from edge-glued pieces. And not plywood) and it its very slightly cupped. It has worn whitewash background, with crisp but worn black lettering- looks to me like painted letters and not decals. The back is dirty and stained, looks like it was nailed to a tree for a many years. It has many scratches, worn spots, nail holes and a few gouges- looks like genuine"Patina" CAUTION: I have not tested the paint- you should assume it has toxic/lead paint until tested otherwise. I've tried to track down the provenance of this vintage street sign to no avail It was owned by a family that included A Greek man who served in WWII somewhere in Europe. And a Polish woman who emigrated to the states during the war. the sign has a wooden core with a metal coating. Along with the metal"arms" it's chipped in places and overall quite beat up(adding to the charm. In my opinion) sign measures 18" x 2.25"

This was attached to a tall wooden post to simulate a mast on a sailing ship, each sign made to look like ship sails with two look-outs in crows nest pointing at the Antiques Shop. Two sided for both directions of traffic passing by. Measurements: Sails each: 6 feet 8 inches wide x 4 feet tall.
