The l's measure about 4 3/4" front to back, the o about 4" At one point they had neon or led inside and most likely a transparent face that the light shone through, but it makes a good raw looking industrial piece as it is. They are lightweight. made of aluminum, but very sturdy. They have scuffs& scratches. Dents and dings, some staining etc. on the inside as well as wear and imperfections that comes from being an actual used signage piece. They could be painted inside and out, or left as-is. Brown French house number 10 door gate plate plaque enamel steel metal sign
It is made from vitreous enamel fused onto sheet steel. Very heavy gauge- unlike recent modern versions this one can't be bent easily. Very durable. Weighs a little under 200 grams or around 7 ounces. Made in 1990s. Genuine vintage numbers in brown are very uncommon. 4" high 6" wide. One of a batch of samples made in France for an industrial trade warehouse in French Alps. Perhaps they were submitting a tender. Estimate or quote to supply the local mayors' offices with street numbers for them to issue? Maybe the councils went for other suppliers, colours or materials. These would have been quite expensive in comparison with lighter or painted versions. Anyway- not a copy. Not made yesterday. Please see similar trade samples listed.
