Antique Vintage Hand Painted 1800s Wood Sign "Boarding House"
This sign was found mounted to a wall as a shelf in an old Galena. Illinois house. It is painted both sides but one side is soiled/stained/dirty from being used as a shelf. I have not attempted ANY cleaning of the sign, it is just as I found it. There are screw holes from the wall brackets when I removed it, and a couple small nails. The curved edge looks like the wood might have been trimmed but there is still some original paint there. Size of the sign is 8 1/2" x 36" Look at the pictures to judge condition. Considering the age of the building it was found in and the history of Galena, the sign probably dates from the 1850s to 1890s. Shipping by USPS, US sales only.

Lovely Unusual Vintage Hand Painted Wood Frog Bathroom Plaque Sign 1970s
You are invited to bid on this unusual vintage hand painted wooden bathroom sign. Dating to approximately the 1970s. It has been beautifully and expertly hand painted with an image of two frogs- one is climbing through the weeds on the side of a pond, the other is just pulling itself out of the water. In the middle it says'Bath-room' The art-work is beautiful, but it has been done on an unusually shaped piece of wood- I'm not quite sure where it was intended to go and how it would have been displayed. But it is very pretty. The plaque measures just over 11" tall. By almost 3" across at the bottom. It bears no signature. It is in good condition with very minor wear to the edges. Only the letter is included in this auction. Not the old ride. Just wanted to give you an idea where they came from. The letters are 12 inches high and 8 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick wood. They each have a metal eyelet that was used to hang the letters on a board. Doing it this way they could change the sign without making a new one. The carnival was operated thoughout the southeast and midsouth from the late 50's through the 60's. The letters were in barrels and boxes and as you can see have suffered some abuse. Some are white. Some are blue, some are red, but all are scraped up and look like they have been painted several times over the years. I will combine shipping as much as possible and will be listing several over the next few days.

Vintage Carnival Game Concession Sign Letter 5*s Painted Wood (read desc)
These stars are about 5 1/2 inches across. I have tried to find out how they were used but have not been successful. Each has a steel wire attached to it. I have about 120 of them and selling them in lots of 5. This fair/carnival outfit ran an average of 6 concessions at each event. Usually working 4-5 events at the same time across NC, SC,GA andFL. Their home base was near Fayetteville NC. The operation started in the late 50's and ran until the late 70's when they sold out. Many of the letters and signs are beyond use. However, the letters and signs you see listed have been cleaned with an organic mixture that removes any dirt, mildew or mold. Most were stored in a metal trailer and if you have ever been to NC in the summer you know the intense heat and humidity they have been xposed to inside the trailer. There are features that show this sign is mid 20 th century and after a lot of searching we could not find another example like it anywhere on the net. Measuring 30” wide by 30” tall by 13” from the back of the sign to the tip of the Admiral’s hat this large sign is hand painted. At the bottom is an oval tin sign that reads. T. Peel& Co. Around this sign it reads. Established for over a century, Naval Outfitter Braids and Full Dress Regalia at Short Notice. This sign is 50 to 60 years old, give or take. In the close-up photograph you can see that the paint has a natural crazing that takes time to occur. This paint and the weather surface makes it look like the 19th century. Vintage Carnival Game Concession Sign Letters EAT Painted Wood
This fair/carnival outfit ran an average of 6 concessions at each event. Usually working 4-5 events at the same time across NC, SC,GA andFL. Their home base was near Fayetteville NC. The operation started in the late 50's and ran until the late 70's when they sold out. Many of the letters and signs are beyond use. However, the letters and signs you see listed have been cleaned with an organic mixture that removes any dirt, mildew or mold. Most were stored in a metal trailer and if you have ever been to NC in the summer you know the intense heat and humidity they have been xposed to inside the trailer. Thus, the poor condition of the paint. Only the letter is included in this auction. Not the old ride. Just wanted to give you an idea where they came from. The letters are 12 inches high and 8 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick wood. ... moreThey each have a metal eyelet that was used to hang the letters on a board. Doing it this way they could change the sign without making a new one. The carnival was operated thoughout the southeast and midsouth from the late 50's through the 60's. The letters were in barrels and boxes and as you can see have suffered some abuse. Some are white. Some are blue, some are red, but all are scraped up and look like they have been painted several times over the years. This sign has nice patina and would look great hanging in a home office, business lobby, etc. It measures approximately 23" long, 12" high and 2.5" thick at the thicker end pieces and 1.5” thick at the other points. There is age wear(look closely at the photos) I’m guessing it was originally hung on the building by two nails– one through the top and one through the bottom. A pair of decorative painted wood medieval style shield plaques, heraldic
A very decorative pair of vintage painted wooden shields in medieval heraldic style. One shows a a castle and three fleur de lys. And the other with three round orbs. This shields are of medium size. Measuring 6.2 inches(15.5 cm) in total height. They are made from painted wood. Probably pine. There is some wear to the painted finish. As can be seen in the photograph, and a piece of thin plastic tubing has been added to the back for hanging, but could be replaced by chain or string if required. Hand painted sign that mimics what one might see posted in a traditional amusement park, fair, circus, or carnival, anywhere from the 1920s until the 1980s. Flying Scooter rides. Originally built by Bische Rocco Co. were very popular in the decades following WWII and existed at many amusement parks. Today, the ride is experiencing a resurgence as it is manufactured by a different company, Larsen International, and introduced at many parks today. Many traditional parks, including Kennywood, West View, Idora, Geauga Lake, Euclid Beach, Coney Island, Kings Island, and Conneaut Lake, all had these rides.
