Up for auction is this very cool painted log- Bass Lake Road 426- Elevation 2870. The sign is believed to be from the 1950's. It is believed that the sign used to be hung at Duceys in Bass Lake back in the day but we have no way to verify this. The sign is very unique- it is painted on an old log piece. Antique Silver Tin Star Decoration Folk Art Architectural
This is a wonderful old tin star that decorated a building. It has light sockets an old silver painted surface. This star was found in New England and measures 25" across and 2" thick. It is in solid condition and hangs from the top point. There is an electrical cord protruding from the bottom but we did not attempt to test it. This is from the early 20th century. One of the best pieces of original Americana Folk Art we have ever had A late 19th Century double sided cast metal optical shop sign. This is an incredibly well made piece of heavy cast metal in the form of glasses. Hand painted with eyes on each side. It is in original as found condition that has some wear on it. A very fine representation of Americana. Structurally solid with no chips or cracks, just paint wear from age. Measures 19 inches long by 5 inches high including the edges that would hang the piece. Eyeglasses themselves are 18 inches by 4 inches. It is about 1/2 inch thick. RUHE, HAFERSCHLEIMDIAT, RISINUSOEL, on table with the white cloth arae two bottles with lables for RISINUS& TOD. The sign is just under 15" long x 13" high x 1/8" deep. Normally I start top down but.This house weights about 50 lbs.the foundation and chimney are cement and stone,it seems to be a monolightic pour except for the stones,I don't know much but someone'w' took there time and did a nice job, w is scribed on the underneath side.We're you can see how the house joists start,over, as you walk up the front steps you notice the detail of the railing on the porch then your eyes go to the deer hanging to the right of the functioning door,thinking that most people existed like this year's ago.Sleds,wheel barrows,wooden barrows,holiday reef and go though the door to the main space,the fire place is in detail,wooden shelf over the lentil,built in cabinet on both sides and all the furniture that is shown in all the picks,all the Windows have bear bars.there is second floor that's removable ... moreand then the upper istructure,the lower part,floor is 100% complete,the upper roof is missing some shingles on the gable ends and part of the rear,also so stucco is also incomplete,this show how and what it took to. 1900's Folk Art "Black Whale" Cast Iron Sign Medallion Marker Painted Primitive
Here is a neat and very unusual small Sign or Marker of some kind made of solid. Thick Cast Iron that I would estimate dates from the early 20th Century. This sign adverstises something- a saloon. Store, boat, called the" Black Whale" It is labeled just as that with the figure of a black whale that appears to be a sperm whale at center- the dark Moby Dick. Perhaps. The sign is only 3" x 2 3/8" at the top center. It is very thick. Close to 1/4" thick. The wording and whale are heavily embossed and painted black. The backround is painted brick red. And the finish on the front of the sign resembles a brick. That tells me that it may have been purposely made to be tacked up or glued onto a brick surface. Perhaps a house, bar, or business of some kind. The reverse side is smooth. No maker is identified. You could call ... moreit a medallion, marker. Or plaque- it was meant to identify something. It may also have a maritime or nautical origin and purpose. It is made in the shape of a tavern sign: rectanular with a sightly raised and rounded top. It is made from one single piece of iron. It may be hand made. But I suspect it was cast from a mould. The edges are slightly beveled. There are two( 2) small mounting holes machine drilled at top and bottom centers. It is in excellent condition with the minor issues mentioned in the Condition Section. I believe it has seen some useage as the back side shows some minor surface rust around the perimeter. I think it was once. Although very briefly, mounted onto a metal piece. The paint is original and looks hand painted. It is heavy for its size. More than half a pound. That's about all I can say about it- definitely an unusual and perhaps one-of-a-kind piece. It has a definite marine feel to it; secondarily. Maybe it was a door marker for a bar.
