Hamm, published in Philadelphia by Carey& Lea, circa 1831. This is a copper engraving, outline hand colored. It measures 10 3/8" in height. x8 3/4" in width. This is a historic map of the area surrounding the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. It shows places such as Austria, parts of Switzerland and Bavaria, Slovania, Croatia, and Bosnia Herzegovina. It shows the Greek names of the cities as well as the rivers and mountain ranges. A historic note from the internet: In ancient geography. Vindelicia is a country bounded on the south by Raetia, on the north by the Danube and the Hadrian's Limes Germanicus, on the east by the Oenus(Inn) on the west by the territory of the Helvetii. It thus corresponded to the northeast portion of Switzerland, the southeast of Baden, and the south of Württemberg and Bavaria. Its chief town was Augusta Vindelicorum(Augsburg) Its inhabitants, the Vindelici were probably Celtic(Gaulish) or Germanic, and a possible etymology of their name includes an element vind-cognate to Irish find- white" compare Ginevra) Together with the neighboring tribes they were subjugated by Tiberius in 15 BC. The Augustean inscription of 12 BC mentions four tribes of the Vindelici among the defeated. Condition: The map has light browning and a crease in the middle where it was part of a book. Bartholomew Published London: The Times Printing House. 1922. Cartographer J.G. Bartholomew. Cartographer to the King. Size/ Format 22.5" x 17.5" 57.6 cm x 44.8 cm) One fold in the centre. The margins are clean and range form 0.5" to 0.8" 1-2 cm) on all sides. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. The atlas from which these maps were removed did NOT spend its life at a public library. It was part of ... morea private collection and was treated very well. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. Antique Cassell's Atlas Map of Ireland South 1910 Bartholomew
An original antique map from Cassell's Atlas. This item: Ireland SOUTHERN SECTION Provenance Cassell's Atlas Containing a Complete Series of Maps of the World. Edited by. Publisher London: Cassell and Company Ltd. 1909-1910. Size/ Format Sheet: 36 cm x 26 cm(14¼" x 10¼" Margins range from 14 mm- 26 mm(½" 1" The maps are all printed on one integral sheet with a fold in the center. This fold becomes nearly invisible when the map is laid flat. If the map is framed. The fold becomes completely invisible unless inspected very closely. Condition The maps are in very good condition. The colors are bright and there is almost no age-toning. There is an occasional spot or unobtrusive mark in the margins of a few of the maps. The scanned images are un-edited(except for size) and are of the actual map you will ... morereceive. I've noticed that some of the scans look a little blurry or grainy. This is caused by clumsy scanner settings. The maps are very clear with crisp text.
