At auction is the very old wood picture of a Christian religious icon of Jesus. This wood piece has notches on both ends where another piece of wood has been inserted. This piece measures very roughly 8 1/2" X 6 3/4" x 3/4" thick. The only thing I know about this piece is it was part of a collection gathered by a gentleman who worked for the United Nations. many years ago in his many travels across the world. Mostly Russia and Africa. There is a painted XC with an overline above it in the upper right corner and a lower case i with a backward N in the left corner. All surfaces are very smooth. It has a sterling sheet applied to the front with a hammered or formed design; and then gold applied to the sterling in different places. It is made in the design of Madonna& Child, with the faces of each depicted in paper. I cannot tell if the faces are painted or printed. The markings are somewhat muddled, but it appears to be marked 925, then some numbers(probably design number) and then the Italian registration mark 12 TA, which does tell me it was made in Taranto but by whom I don't know. 19th century-Circa 1800s ANTIQUE RUSSIAN PRIMITIVE FOLK ART SIGNED ICON SAINT NICHOLAS TEMPERA on WOOD& EMBOSSED HAND-HAMMERED TIN RELIC. Wonderful signed in two places-19th century antique primitive Russian icon religious relic of Saint Nicholas. It is signed on the back with a faded but legible hand-written Russian ink inscription-I cannot read Russian but date of person owning it or gifting it or church ownership is dated on the back and reads"1896" please see inscription and date on back of wood block. It also has a stamped/embossed into the metal/tin at side signature of maker which is a bit faded but reads something like"CH" or"CR" with maybe a backwards"R" hard to see) and the number"84" with a round stellar'star' shape next to the number, I have included a close-up pic ... moreof this embossed signature as well-please see close-up pic provided. This antique Russian Icon relic is from the 1800s and consists of what looks to be tempera on wood block which is in very good aged period condition(see pics provided) An icon of Saint Nicholas holding a scroll with white beard and hair and raised relief of painted Russian crosses(see pics) the wood block is wrapped in a metal or tin sheet which is embossed& hand-hammered with Archaic religious symbols of Russian crosses, a halo around the saint's head and a robe-the halo shroud has hand-hammered details of little beading work around the perimeter of the halo and the robe(see close-up pics provided) There are also hand-hammered dots which spell out Russian letters which I cannot read as I do not read Russian-please see close-ups provided of the Russian hand-hammered words on front at sides of the Saint figure. For sale is a vintage cast metal(copper/bronze? Last Supper plaque with Italian writing below the scene that reads: Amen Dico Voris Quia Unus Vestrume Traditurus Est. The plaque is 13 1/2" tall x 18 3/8" wide overall. It's ornately self-framed and the previous owner attached a hanger to the panel which could be replaced. The hanger is strong enough to hold the 5 1/2 lb plaque but doesn't hang quite straight. An easy remedy with a picture straightening strip. I'm not sure what's painted on the backside, but the piece is 100% metal. The plaque is in great condition as pictured with minimal use wear present. The front of the entire peice is embossed with very detailed decoration, as is both sides of the opening doors. The inside depicts the Virgin Mary and Jesus. I think it may be Russian Orthodox, but I am not certain. T is lettering in a semi hemispheric arch above door that reads"EN EKKV EYVOLEITE TONOEON" MY KEYBOARD DID NOT HAVE SOME OF THE LETTERS, so read this as is, except the"V"s and the L" were inverted. On the reverse the cross has the letters"NA ZHCH" Once again country of origin may or not be Russia but if not I am fairly certain its Eastern Europe. A nice antique gold gilt six panel icon display with colored printed cards of Saints and lettering at the bottom that looks to be cyrillic. This piece measures approximately fifteen inches wide by nine and three eighth inches tall. This six panel frame has seen its share of mishaps with losses at both the top and bottom areas. Three of the very top tip leafs are damaged or missing. Six of the top seven in between tips that can be removed are damaged. Bottom left lowest point has damage. This beautiful religious sculptured wall hanging statue of Jesus Christ and the Sacred Heart is from 1961. Removable Crown of Thorns is weaved branches with 6 scattered red beads. Measures 25” tall. Is 6 1/2“ at the elbows and is 4” wide at its flat base. Made of plaster or chalkware and is hand painted in a light brown that is made to look like wood. There is faint coloring on the lips. Eyes and heart which is by design. Removable hand was originally made in three pieces and has been repaired. It is painted in silver/ gold metallic coloring. There is a chip on the index and middle finger in the back and is not noticeable when looking at the statute. There is a straight metal bar through the back for hanging. You are bidding on an Antique Vintage Very Large Triptych. Icon, Shrine, Alter. I believe it was made in Italy. There is no mark on the back of it. Most had a paper label on the back side. This item measures approximately 15 1/2" tall at its highest point. Closed it measures 15 1/2 x 9 3/4" Open it measures approximately 19 1/4" across. This is a beautiful piece. It is tri fold. It is gold guilded. The back of the piece is carved also has a design on it that is in the wood. Hinges work well. There are a few spots on the ends of the piece that have a few chips, I would consider it very minor for the age of the piece. You can also see this in the photos. If package arrives broken or damaged, due to USPS's new policies ... morethe broken or damaged package has to be present when filing claims. If it is under 40$ and insurance is not requested from buyer, I will not be responsible to refund purchase for broken or lost item/items. There will be no sales tax charged to cost of item. Unless the buyer lives in, and/or is getting package shipped to a New Jersey address. Which will be a charge of 7% due to New Jersey state law. So if you are a New Jersey resident and want to purchase an item. Commit to buy item, and hold off to pay, so i can add sales tax to invoice. Please make sure to look at all pictures very closely before purchasing. As most pieces in my shop are non refundable.
