This beautiful Antique Devotional Icon measures about 4” X 4.5” and is elaborately designed in typical French Art Nouveau fashion with curly-ques and deeply carved garlands of ribbons. In the center. It features a very detailed Golden Medaillon(2” of the Little Flower of Lisieux, Saint Therese attached to a Red Velvet background. Ruffony has left his signature at the bottom. Wonderful signed in two places-19th century antique primitive Russian icon religious relic of Saint Nicholas. It is signed on the back with a faded but legible hand-written Russian ink inscription-I cannot read Russian but date of person owning it or gifting it or church ownership is dated on the back and reads"1896" please see inscription and date on back of wood block. It also has a stamped/embossed into the metal/tin at side signature of maker which is a bit faded but reads something like"CH" or"CR" with maybe a backwards"R" hard to see) and the number"84" with a round stellar'star' shape next to the number, I have included a close-up pic ... moreof this embossed signature as well-please see close-up pic provided.
