This is a large vintage French painted metal sign advertising‘Gîtes De France’ An advertising sign like this would have been used by the network of Gîte businesses/holiday rental properties registered with the company‘Gîtes de France’ It would have been positioned at the road side on a post near to the property. It is a double sided sign having a metal loop on each of the top corners enabling it to be hung. It measures 50cm x 60cm As you can see in the photos. It is in pretty good condition(one side better that the other) having rusting and paint flaking which is consistent with age and exterior use. This lovely old sign was found not far from the original distillery. A super old vintage advertising sign for COGNAC BISQUIT- please see information below about the company. Made of some type of mixed metal this sign would have once stood outside a shop that sold Cognac Bisquit. Featuring a well rounded cheerful chap studying his crate of cognac whilst stood in his own"Cave" Condition is as to be expected having stood outside in all weathers for many years. Shabby and rusted all over to the front and back of the sign. I have not attempted to clean this so the rust spots, particularly on his face may well come off with a specialist rust cleaning product. A super old antique French"CHAMPIGNONNIÈRES" mushroom growers sign. Made of some type of mixed metal this sign would have once been nailed to the outside of a building. It was the great graphics that first attracted me to this sign. Depicting two paniers of mushrooms being poured into either a sack or tinned with a giant mushroom in the middle. Condition is as to be expected having been nailed outside in all weathers for many years. Spots of rust, predominantly to the base but there are still two holes present at the top in order to afix it to a wall.
