It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. The dimensions are 40 1/2” tall its tallest point. 33 1/2“ wide at its widest point at the base, and 19” deep when closed,and 34“ deep when opened. Local pickup only.

It has three small pull out drawers on the inside with the middle drawer having a lift up mirror and there are three larger drawers below the desk area. The inside of the desk also has a couple of cubby shelves. If you look below the second shelf you can see someone has cut a small hole to pass cords through. I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. It is of smaller proportions making it ideal for a smaller room. The approx. measurements are: 3’ 6½” tall/ 2’ 11” across the front and is 1’ 5¼” wide. There are a couple of very small little marks or bumps but nothing major and overall it is in Very Good used condition. This Would Be A Very Stylish Addition To Any Home! A set of the FIRST DESK and LAST SEAT is EXTREMELY RARE and very hard to come by. My mother worked for an antique dealer 25 years ago and obtained a set of this rare first desk and last seat combination. She put it into my brother's room and it got loads of compliments on it. It's just a great piece. My mom is now selling the house and selling this great antique school desk set. The only damage I see is to the inside shelf. Inside each desk there was a shelf for kids to put their books. That inside shelf. Which you can't see unless you crawl under the desk, has a part of the shelf missing. I have attached 2 pictures showing it. The desk and chair are made of wood and metal. I don't know if the metal is iron or steel. The wood was painted to match my brother's room. The seat folds up as it did way back when. Vintage, Walnut Herman Miller, George Nelson Designed 2 Pedestal Executive Office Desk and was most likely built between 1958 and 1963. The desk is from the Herman Miller Company’s Executive Office Group 8000 Series and is model 8865. The left pedestal has two drawers, an upper storage drawer and a lower file drawer. The right side is a 3-drawer pedestal. The"floating" walnut veneer desktop measures 84 inches long and 36 inches wide, 1-1/4 inch thick, and has a height of 29.5 inches. The attached privacy screen is in excellent condition. The desk is marked on two of the drawer handles with the Herman Miller name and logo, and has labels inside of two drawers that designate it as a George Nelson design. All of the drawers open and close smoothly and can be locked. There are 3 keys for the 2 locks. There are some small scratches, drill holes, tiny areas of veneer loss, an area of white paint, and areas of light fading. Holes were drilled into the top front of each pedestal to install plastic brackets to hold electric cords and two holes were drilled into the bottom of each pedestal. Overall this Herman Miller/George Nelson walnut desk is in very good vintage condition. See Photos) This desk easily disassembles for transport. The top can be removed with 6 bolts and the two pedestals are attached to the modesty screen with a few screws. According to the 1961 Herman Miller product brochure the 84 x 36 x 1-1/4 inch desk top is the largest available and weighs 110 pounds. This item is for pick-up only.
