There are brass accents and a lock mechanism. But no key. The sloped writing desk still contains the original wood pen holder(7 1/2" long, 2" wide and 3/4" tall) and the glass powder jar with cover(1" tall and 1 1/2" wide) There are bits of wood veneer missing on the top and corners. The pen tray is removable and can store other writing utensils. The lap desk opens inside for more storage space. This item needs some minor repair as one side of the writing surface does not sit quite right. And there is a crack across the bottom(please see photos) It appears the edge does not catch the lip underneath to hold it up securely.
