Antique Charles Parker Co., Meridian CT Piano Stool
Antique piano stool in walnut manufatured by Charles Parker& Company. Meriden. CT. This stool is in excellent condition with glass balls in the claws. There are what appears to be small flecks of white paint on the seat. The seat swivels to adjust height. It is 14 1/4" wide, 19 1/2" tall& a foot at the claws. We are unsure if this has been refinished but it may very well be. Strong& sturdy. Comes from a smoke free home. Not sure of the date of manufacture but here is some history of the company: Charles Parker and his younger brother. Opened their first manufacturing factory in Meriden in 1832. Over the years they manufactured a wide variety of productss from steam engines, train wheels and printing presses to piano stools. During the Civil War, Parker's Meriden Machine Company was under Union contract to produce ... more10,000 repeating rifles and 15,000 Springfield rifles. Vintage 1950's Singer Sewing Stool Very Nice Condition! Mahogany or Walnut?
Up for auction is a very nice Singer Sewing Stool from the mid 1950's. The stool is Mahogany or Walnut(not sure) The wood is beautiful. I recovered the seat myself. When I got the stool it had a worn piece of ugly vinyl on it. I bought some new soft vinyl and put new seat foam in as well. The new vinyl is stapled to the bottom of the seat just as the old cover was. I also refinished the wood by sanding the old finish off and putting on a red mahogany stain and 2 coats of satin finish polyurethane. The finish isn't perfect. But I think it looks great for my first project. The seat comes off for storage and the stool is sturdy. This would also make a nice piano bench. I will be removing the legs for shipping purposes. The back and seat are removable with a common pair of pliers and the original bolts/nuts are intact. Basically, you can recover the seat and back in whatever material you want to match your decor and taste. The back is also completely removable so you can use this as a stool, if desired.
