And 5 black and white maps, and many illustrations. The atlas comes with the very hard to find double page chart of the world showing the state of society, Religion, Governments, Races of men, Population, and table of distances. The book is entered into an Act of Congress in 1835 and published in 1839 the atlas was published in 1835. This set is designed to work as a complement to each other. The Geography book makes reference to the atlas on almost every page. This is very“Rare and hard to find” as a set like this with both the Atlas ... moreand the Geography book together. The set has many nice Maps from the past. Although American towns provided free public education from the 17th century on. Students and their families bought their own school books. Teachers taught the subjects from the books each child brought. Spellers, readers, and arithmetic books were most common, followed by geography books like this one by Roswell Smith. The question and answer format, or catechism Smith used was common to schoolbooks of the period. Scholars learned by rote. Memorizing the answer to each question exactly as it appeared in the book. When Jedediah Morse wrote the first American geography in 1784, he included only two maps. In contrast, Smith's geography had many maps and illustrations. It also provided information on and stereotypic images of countries and cultures around the world. Particularly interesting are the criteria Smith used to rank various cultures on a scale of"civilization" that began with" barbarous" and ended with"enlightened. These are made of cloth or some canvass type material-would have been looks like Sunday School Maps from the 40's or 50's-This is a guess on the age. The maps are on a wooden roll board and would have hung from the wall. They show the maps of the Exodus and of the travels of Jesus and Paul. They are approximately 52" wide and 4 of them are about 36" long. Two of them are much longer. There is some tattering at the end but overall still in good condition. Not Mint or Pristine-these are used. But still would be great for use or display. The A.H. Eilers company was out of St. Louis.

VINTAGE SCHOOL MAPS (7) PULL DOWN WOOD CASE-INDIANA, CONTINENTS, POLAR AIR AGE
Terrific vintage pull down school maps(7) with wood rack. The maps are of Africa. Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Indiana, and the Polar Air Age World. The maps are all vivid in color with the exception of the Polar Air Age World Map which is slightly more muted in color. Six of the maps are copyright Denoyer-Geppert Co. Chicago. The Indiana map is copyright A.J. Nystrom& Co. The maps of the continents and IN are Physical-Political. There is some slight discoloration on the bottoms of most of them(see zoom pix of photos) and the IN map is slightly torn at the bottom where it connects to the wood rod. The wood case is approx 22 x 51 inches. We dusted it well but I think it would benefit from additional cleaning(which we will leave to the buyer-who can determine the patina they desire) The maps pull down easily and roll back ... moreup with relative ease-with only a couple of them requiring extra attention for the last few inches. A few of the metal brackets that hold each map in place when it the maps are rolled up are slightly bent but the maps stay in place in spite of this. As you can see from the photos, there is a"string" tied around two pieces of wood on one side. I'm not certain what the purpose of the string is since it is relatively loosely tied around the two pieces and nothing seems to fall out of place. Overall, this map would benefit from a good cleaning and from what appears to me to be minor attention such as replacing a couple of missing screws on the hanging brackets, reshaping the brackets that hold the maps. Since this is large and cumbersome to ship-please view pictures closely and feel free to ask questions. We will be glad to provide additional pictures upon request. This listing is a for 4 Europe school maps. From 1916 to 1950 They all have had restoration at some point however they could use some updating. There are taped areas a few torn areas etc but keep in mind the age on one is almost a century old. It depends on the way they will be used as to restoring. Some of my customers like them this way others do not. Each one has been listed as separate maps for $129 and up.two of them appraised at $105 and $125 as is and if restored 3 times that amount. And it is FULL with 9 Maps in it ~ ~ It has a couple of different maps from different eras. Mostly 1930s or earlier. With one from the World War 1 Era, and one from the early 1920s(Indiana Map) ~ ~ Condition: All maps have some damage(staining. Discoloration, tears{some repaired}but all are intact and the rollers function properly and are properly attached to the frame. ~ ~ The Frame is 18.75" tall x 46.5" wide x 3.25" deep and has 2 eyelets on the back for hanging. All the maps are approx 42" to 46" tall and approx 38" wide. ~ MAPS: The Bottom Map: Is a CRAM Map of Europe. It has East Prussia and Saar on it. Saar was a territory from 1920 to 1935. Two vintage school wall maps of Europe. Both maps were made by Edigol Ediciones S.A. of Spain. Characteristics: Non-reflecting laminate Printing litho-offset 4+4 colours with plastic strips along the top and bottom. Scale: 2cm = 100km The maps feature a political map on one side and a physical map on the other. The maps are bright but are in a used vintage condition with evidence that they were stapled to a wall at some point(small holes on the white border) Approx size 90-95cm x 110-130cm. Map 1. Cold War Era 1945-1990. Unfortunately this map has a dark stain around Albania and on the edge. This stain has gone through the paper. Map 2. Very brief snap shot of history from 1990(reunification of Germany) till 1991 when the USSR ended. So an interesting map that was immediately superseded. This. These huge atlas books has around 300 pages in them. Many maps of the US and around the world including the oceans and everything. Great detail. THEY ARE FROM THE 70'S. They measure 16" wide and 22" long. Published by School and Publishing Company and Geographical Publishing Company, complete, few pages have dog eared pages, but fairly minor. Many full color maps, very rare books to find thanks and good luck! THESE TWO BOOKS ARE VERY HEAVY.

This lot has 6 road maps from New Jersey from Esso Standard Oil Company. Included is a 1948 New Jersey with Pictorial Guide in very good condition but has one small rip on fold line; a very good condition, no rips or tears 1951 Interstate Route Map; a 1952 map with pictorial guide that has some rips and tears along the fold lines; a 1953& 1959 Northeast United States and Adjacent Canada in very good condition; a N.J. map with special maps of New York City approaches, Northeast N.J. and Philadelphia one in very good condtion and one with some rips and tears along fold lines. These calendar sheets are much nicer than they appear in photo and they are cardboard one month calendars. They are from Gordon D. Woodey dealer in Stoves, Ranges, Heaters, located in Keyport, New Jersey. The Sept. 1914 sheet has a Village Blacksmith photo with verse; the March 1915 sheet have Little Boy Blue with verse; the June 1915 has Hiaiwatha with verse; and the March 1916 sheet has Then You'll Remember Me song verse. Set of 3 School Fabric Wall Maps & Charts - UK
This is a set of 3 wall hanging maps and charts for use in a school or learning environment. They are all made from a strong rubberised fabric with wooden top and bottom hanging rails. The fabric allows the user to write on it in either chalk or non-permanent marker and then clean off of the markings. The hanging map has the UK on one side and England and Wales on the reverse: it measures 92 cm wide and 124 cm high. There is a hanging chart which is for recording the weather: it measures 124 cm wide and 89 cm high. Vintage George Cram School WWII European, Pacific Theatre Pull Down Maps
This is a great set of what appears to have been school maps by Cram. The maps each measure 51" wide x 39 1/2 in high. The pull down area is a large 54" x 82" The pull down works great. They store rolled up nicely. Has great color graphics and lots of detail. There are no marks or tears. This was hanging rolled up in a friends house. It is a nice sturdy canvas. Condition fair plus: does have much wear top and foot of spine, some soiling, minor tears and folded corners and foxing, wear noted most on cover with some of ink missing on cover illustration, missing fornt and back blank page(see pix) Still a good example of lessons for students regarding their world. This is a old school pull down map. The map has a name on the top of them that reads Rand McNally Map/ World History Series. Map editor Knight Biggerstaff, Ph.D Cornell University. Series Editor R.R. Palmer PH.D Litt D, there are 16 maps, all vary in size, first map is 48" wide and 36" long measuring the black boarder line around the map section, the pull down has wear and an attic odor to it, some of the edges of the maps have tears, most of the bottom of the maps where the metal small bar is on has tape on the worn section, one metal bar is missing on one of the maps, there are some stains on the back of each map, the map section on the front of all 16 are in nice condition, clear and nice color, the outside roll up cover has a tear and stains, this has a metal bracket on the top to hang the map on the wall and measures 55 1/2" ... morewide, the section that would be mounted on the wall is missing. There is also a stamped mark that I can't make out completely- ES? MPS Title II? Milwaukee Public School?
