3 vintage. Mid 1960's Large pull down/ retractable school maps. All have been used and do show signs of use and age, but overall condition of the actual maps and overlays are very good. I have added several photos showing condition of each and I will try to describe each individually, Measurements are aprox. of map alone not the brackets. Rods, or empty space outside map. Maps are larger in total. World pictorial relief map. PR-98 Nystrom 1965 shown in pictures 1-3. Map only is apx. 63.5" x 56" Retractable mounting bracket attached. Overall condition very good, there is moister stain to canvas back at very bottom lower edge of map, other then that there are no tears, holes, and little to no fray to edges, map has great color and detail. US 50 states sculptural relief map with political and blank overlay. Nystrom 1966 no.1101-10 ... moreshown in pictures 4- 8, map alone apx. 62" x 60" retractable mount is attached. 2 maps/2 overlays. Overlays are in great condition, no tears rips, holes, ect. The actual map areas show vibrant color and detail, very nice. There is signs of use and wear to lower area and outer edge mainly outer edge of the back map slight fray. Main map area are in very nice condition. South America pictorial relief with merging colors political and blank overlays. Nystrom 1966 PR6-10 shown in pictures 9- 12 Map size alone 43" x 70" No mounting bracket. Both overlays appear to be in very good condition, The main area of map is in very nice condition, vibrant color. This map has water stains to the back canvas, please look at photos showing effect to lower section and along left edge, edges are frayed.

Hudson states that the 1st issue of the 1st Edition of Mitchell’s School Atlas contains only 16 Maps(rather than 18) lacking the Map of Germany and England. The points also call for the 1st Issue to contain Maps of the United States and North America with The Republic of Texas in its smaller. Original size and for the Sultan Mahmoud II of Turkey to be listed on the first page. Hudson states that the second issue of the 1st edition contained 18 maps(Germany and England added) and the two maps showing Texas to show the Republic as its fullest size. The Second Issue also has various points related to the rulers of the different countries as listed on the first page. The Atlas offered here includes the 1st State of the Maps of North America and the United States which show the original. The map of United States shows the area of California as Mexico, as California wasn't admitted to the union until 1850. The binding is tight and the covers intact with edge wear, soiling and ink stains to the boards. The interior pages are complete and tight and generally in very good condition. It had come from my dads Great Aunt who was very old and long since deceased, She had been a school teacher in Iowa. And like I said it is not perfect, but it is not the worst, and you just don't see a lot of these around.

Vintage Oak Iowa Country School Map Case With 4 Original Maps
This beautiful old wall mounted map case was salvaged from a deserted country school being torn down in Madison County Iowa in the 60's by the local contractor. We brought it with us when we moved to Cincinnati. Unfortunately. It was rained on quite a bit in the old schoolhouse and suffered surface damage to the finish. Since we have many primitive pieces in our home, it fit right in. Others may decide to have it refinished as some of the varnish has flaked off clear down to the wood as you can see in the pictures. All maps are on working rollers. But I have released their tension for packing. The maps should be cleaned, the pull rods checked for tightness, and the tension rollers oiled and readjusted. I have included instructions on how to re-tension the rollers after hanging up the case- it is just like re-tensioning window shades. ... moreI am not a map collector or expert but will try to provide a fair and accurate description of these large cloth backed maps as best as I can. It has 44 copperplate maps"drawn and engraved expressly to illustrate Mitchell's New School Geography. There are also geographical tables and"an extensive pronouncing vocabulary of nearly ten thousand names. The book measures 11-3/4" x 9-1/2" and has hardboard covers. Condition: Both front and rear covers are detached. And the spine is missing. The front cover has darkened and has three areas where the paper has come off. I have 300 of this style map by DENOYER GEPPERT. All the descriptions will be about the same with title amd pictutes you can see the actual map and subject matter. Most are from the early 60's and 70's. They are printed on a heavy weight Paper. Great colors on these flip chart style school maps. Almost all will have little areas that are torn on the edges which is easy to repair with ordinary scotch tape on the back.I consider this normal vintage but will let you decide by the pictures. All have the punched out holes at top which you can trim and frame. The pictures were taken with props to help visualize what they may look like in a home. They do not come in a frame All are the same size 44" x 36" They will be shipped rolled up in a container to help protect.

Vintage NYSTROM OAK CASE for 8 Pull Down School Wall Maps-SCARCE
Here for sale is a working A. J. Nystrom pull down wall map case which is made of oak and holds 8 wall maps. The case measures about 19 3/4 by 53 inches and has an A. J. Nystrom. Chicago, stamp on one of the sides. The Oak Case is in very good overall condition. There is some green paint in one area which could easily be cleaned up and the wood restored with finish. The map hardware is in excellent shape and in working condition. See photos. I am also selling a total of 8 Nystrom pull down maps that I purchased with the case at a local estate auction that are dated between 1940 and 1943. No International shipping due to size and weight of item.
