ANTIQUE 1800's in OLD School ? 4 Rand McNally WORLD US Pull-down Maps in Wood &
If anyone knows anything about this VERY OLD/ANTIQUE Primitive piece with the maps enclosed. I would like to know more about it. I was unable to get a lot of history on it. What it looks like to me is maybe it was in an OLD School-house? displayed on a wall. The 4 maps that are enclosed have wood scroll pieces at the bottom with a metal loop piece attached for being able to pull down. It being so old, I didn't try to see how the spring mechanisms are. I actually rolled each one, as you will see in the photos uploaded, out, carefully by hand. I couldn't find dates on 3 of them. I did however find a date on one. And, I think you will see this in one of the photo's where a close-up photo was taken of this. 1898? They are made of? there's a linen or thin woven type of fabric below the map surface. I think you can see this as well ... morein some of the photos where it has worn. The backs of the maps have discolored, spotted from age and use I assume. I think there's also a photo that will show this as well. I've never come across anything as UNIQUE and OLD as far as maps. And, then, being enclosed in this PRIMITIVE wood/en case that looks to have a place for a skeleton key. I am thinking maybe the other maps that I could not find a date on could possibly be older. I really do not know. That is why I uploaded as many photos as I could, hoping you can tell more about it and the condition. There's a metal latch on the side for securing it when not in use. There's a map of Europe, USA, etc. The wood case they are in measures approximately 44 1/2 inches longest part, side to side. 10 1/2 inches top to bottom and the thickness is approximately 3 3/4 inch. If I am not mistaken, the one measurement is without measuring the metal pieces attached for hanging on a wall. If measuring those, it would be an additional 1 1/4 inches. The scales show it weighing 21 pounds and 3.4 ounces. So, a little over 21 pounds. It will be a bigger, heavier, package to ship. Local pick-up is always available if convenient.

1926 Diercke Schulatlas - German Language School Atlas in Color Maps Geography
This is a vintage 1926 World Atlas produced by the Lange-Diercke European Map Makers and is written in the German language. A large light Brown Atlas in Size 14 1/4" by 9 1/4" inches. It has a 156 pages and is filled with many vividly colored maps which are 3 pages size and folding. The cover has some spots on it and rubbed edges. The spine is frayed and the binding is somewhat delicate in some areas but no tears. All the maps have very nice and clear colors. This is a double set paper poster map with clear plastic overlays that measures about 68"x 48" It includes mounting bracket(no screws) and wood pole and operates easily and without issue. The top map is 1776 Bicentennial America and the second map is African American History. The top map does not want to stay un-rolled and would benefit from attaching a flat dowel at the bottom. I found no holes. Tears, markings, creases or water damage. The map looks unused. There is some slight rippling from the roller. The colors are very bright and vibrant, there are no smells at all, no yellowing, just a fabulous map. You will not be disappointed with the condition of this old map. This map. Vintage Nystrom Maps Geographer's Series Canvas Set Of 8 W/Wood Case school IL
Set of 8 huge pull down maps in vintage original wood case. Maps were published by AJ Nystrom Johnston. They are the GEOGRAPHERS SERIES. Maps are of South America. Africa, North America, Far East, State of Illinois, Europe, Asia and the United States. I can't find a date of the maps. Maps are probably from the 30's or so. Germany shows as one country. Alaska is still a territory. Very little damage but some of the pulls need worked with. Some roll up fine with just a little yank. Maps were probably out of an old school room. Bottom of maps are canvas. Shipping is $85.00 or you are welcome to pick up for free. Size of wooden map case is approximately 58" x 17.5" Map sizes are around 43" x 60" I did not see any tears on the maps. Case needs a good polishing. Pull down rings need cleaned as well.

For sale are two hand-colored regional maps of the United States published in 1844 by Olney's School Geography. Both maps are approximately 18.5" x 12" Map One: Map of Part of the Southern States" This map highlights Alabama. Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and part of Florida. Map Two: Map of the Central States" This map highlights Indiana. Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and Kentucky. Both maps are in good condition and would look great framed. Up for your consideration: A very rare atlas fresh from an estate in Canisteo New York. It is from the year 1851 and is the famous. OLNEY'S SCHOOL ATLAS. This is an atlas that rarely survived due to it's soft cover and also because it received a great deal of use. The Atlas is filled with 17 rare color engraved maps. Most of them from the year 1844. Most of the maps are two-paged measuring 12" by 19" The map of the U.S. shows the Oregon Territory, and also shows California as"Upper California" covering a huge area that now includes Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. Great historical significance. Most copies of this atlas have had the maps removed and sold individually. This one has the 17 maps. The condition of this Olney's Atlas is very good. I have not found any that are this good. There is ... morescattered foxing but on the maps it is generally just on the borders when it is there and not on the map proper. The opening pages which contain charts of general statistics and census type information have the most foxing. Please look at the pictures of the maps to see for yourself. This atlas(in this good condition) does not become available very often. It is a great addition to any lover of history or cartography. There is a low opening bid and no reserve! The dimensions of this map are(approx) Width(inc poles) 229cm/ 7'6" Length: 167cm/5'5" width measurements include the fastening clip which can be removed. 6-10 cm long) This lovely old historical map of the World in four time periods is decorative and colourful with four maps of the world during different periods in history. The world in 1450-1650 the age of discovery. The world in 1830 during colonization, the world in 1914 before the start of the first world war and the world in 1955. The two lower maps are very colourful while the upper two are more muted in keeping with the time period they are from. This map is in German. ... moreThese beautifully decorative old charts are hugely popular at the moment as you get a lot of interesting wall filler for your money. It is printed on quality paper backed with canvas has black wooden dowels top and bottom and has a cord to hang it from. This chart has spent most of its life rolled up in a cupboard so the colours are still very fresh. This map was photographed outside. There is therefore some shadow on the map due to the low winter sun. Obviously this map is not new and there is wear consistent with it's age. So please be aware of this and check all photos. There is some wear near the title bar and some creases down the centre line of the map(see photos) but they are not really that visible when the map is hung. There is white fabric tape along the top edges but this could easily be blacked out with a marker pen to make it less noticeable. This really is a fantastic map. These beautiful old school maps have been used as educational aids for the last 100 years or so. Since the introduction of computers and white boards to schools they have become available to buy. Here is a scare hardbound early 20th Century school atlas entitled. Longmans New School Atlas" published in 1904 by Longmans. Green, and Co. London, New York, and Bombay. This atlas was published by Longmans New York office. Located then on Fifth Avenue. The title page indicates that this atlas is Longmans New Edition. And there is no information to indicate that there was an earlier edition. I assume that this edition if a First Edition of the first American published Longmans School Atlas. If you know otherwise. Please let me know and I will update this listing. The book contains 40 full color maps. The maps are all tabbed and indexed along the pages. There is no narrative or prose in this atlas. Other than the List of Maps. Preface, and Title Page. The back of ths sheets on which the maps are printed are blank. The maps appear to ... morebe lithographs to my eye. But I could be mistaken; nothing is said about the printing process. This an attractively bound book in a nice size and color. It comes in a beautiful crimson red and each sheet. Or page, is 7" x 11 1/4" Since there is no narration in the book. This atlas is more of an anthology. All the maps are very detailed with precise and technically skillfull cartography. It is difficult to say what level of eduction this atlas was intended for. But I would say high school at the time it was published- in other words, it might be appropriate for Masters or PhD candidates today! When the book is closed. It looks similar in size and design. If not color, to an accounting ledger. Almost all of the maps are printed on two pages, so when you view a map. It is printed on the left and right sides of the open pages. A few of the maps are double fold-outs. With a third page printed. The book has some issues with I feel are not too bad and do not detract from the general appearance of the book or its use. VINTAGE CANVAS OR PAPER SCHOOL MAP WALL BRACKET HOLDER 4 LARGE MAPS Vintage large wall map holder/bracket. This was used on the large school maps. The bracket works by tightening two pieces of metal together with wing nut screws which holds the top of the map secure. The piece is then mounted to the wall. This bracket works best with the maps that have a wood rod on the bottom. This way they have weight to help them hang straight. The bracket measures 45 inches over all, it will hold maps up to this length. The bracket is in nice condition, There is a some light surface rust on the back, if you want it will easily sand off and you can repaint the bracket and it will look ne w. Long's Grammar School Atlas of Classical Geography Containing Ten Maps No date. London: Whittaker and Co. School atlas of the Classical world. Incuding Greece, Italy, Palestine with Syria, Asia Minor, Gallia, The Roman Empire, Assria etc. All ten maps are present, even though there are loose stubs in between some plates. Each map is a double-page spread, tipped in on guards, with hand coloured outlines. Good condition. Binding is a little loose and leather spine is rough. Back board is becoming detached. But still partially holding on. Noce gold stamped title, pages relatively clean, some minor notations by a previous owner and some small staple holes in a couple of fore edges. Generally a nice school atlas and maps are lovely!

Near the north dakota border, this came from the New Belgium township one room school schoolhouse near Euclid MN School of farm district 179- this school was started around 1886 i found a picture of the school and you can see it in the pics above there are 8 maps in this holder. Very interesting old 1940's school map. Undated. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and General Douglas MacArthur are pictured on the map. Total of 3 sheets printed on both sides; a picture of the flag with 48 stars, Pledge of Allegiance, Star Spangled Banner, etc. on one page, and various U.S. Europe and world maps on the other 5 pages. A metal strip across the top attaches the pages together. The bottom corners are very tattered and torn on one side. The other side isn't as bad; see pictures. A separate sheet(unattached) is wrapped around the outside. It is a map of Hillsborough. CA and bus schedules for San Mateo, Hillsborough, Burlingame, CA dated 1944. School Maps set of seven of the World and Its Continents & Oak Cabinet
Treasure chest of seven exquisitely engraved archival maps of the world and its continents contained in a wall-mounted. Oak storage cabinet. Represented are the United States, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and two world maps. Each is mounted on a retractable wooden roller that when rolled up, stores neatly and securely in an oak cabinet. These archival maps, one of which dates back to 1905, were lavishly illustrated and printed by cartographers in Edinburg, Scotland. While in very good condition for their age, the archival nature of these maps is reflected in their wear and weathering. FYI: The box does mount to the wall. The cover hinges down and maps pull out of the box to display vertically on rollers. All map rollers are 54" wide to notch into the box.
