Antique Hourglass / Sand Timer, Made in Italy by Artamount, Silver over Brass
Artamount Sand Timer/ Hourglass This is a very nice old hourglass timer from around the early 20th cen. It has a glass insert and pink sand which takes three minutes to fully empty one side. not guaranteed to be an exact timer) The metal is silver over brass. The timer has unique ends which appear to me to be old phone dialers. The hourglass could have been used to time long distance calls. One end is engraved, ITALY ARTAMOUNT and the other end, PAT. PEND. It measures 4.5 inches long, heavy, solid and quality construction, both ends threaded. It has superficial scratches but nothing out of line for an item this old. The color is silver with brass showing through except the end pieces which are silver. In some of the pictures the hourglass looks more silver and in some it looks more brass. This map was recovered from an abandoned school in Chicago. The map has some water damage. But the front side is still colorful and is completely intact. It has the original stickers on it, albeit with some damage to them, and it has the original pull ring and ceiling mount. The topics covered are"Colonial Products" Colonial Commerce: Foreign and Domestic" and"The War in the West and South" and"The War in the East" The two stickers have the serial numbers SG8A and SG16 as the map numbers.
