For your consideration is a vintage art nouveau spelter figural statue with the most impressive size nearly 3 feet tall. This would make a fine statement for any room. The lovely maiden dressed in a flowing gown is just stunning. She would work perfect as a newel post or as an entrance piece on a pedistal. She is double signed on base as shown- Ranieri. These statues were blanks that were then electrified which one can easily wire up to her hand and use as a torch lamp. The statue shows wear typical of age and use to the patina easily touched up. But as you can see displays beautifully with its aged character. These are so hard to come by in such a rare size. One could very easily convert her into a torch lamp if you chose. Shiny Brass SWAN Newel Post Finial Tops or Bookends

The swans measure approximately 6.5 inches tall; the square bases measure 2.5 inches square. The center bottoms of the bases have a ¼ inch threaded hole as shown. The top is also a finial and can be removed to show a threaded rod. I suppose these swans could also be used as bookends. There is some discoloration on the metal on each piece; one is at the top curve of the wing; another is along the back edge of the wing as shown. Both are in very good pre-owned condition. Each swan weighs almost 2 pounds each but both will fit in a 2 pound regional box to save on shipping.

GIANT. Original, solid oak, beehive finial. Incredible primitive patina. Would also make a striking garden ornament. Salvaged from late, 19th century, Chicago church. To give a better idea of the grand staircase this was recovered from, I saved a piece of the original newel post that once supported it(last photo) Overall it measured over 7 feet tall! This hotel was frequented by Coal barons and other prosperous merchants of the time. It was even visited in the early 1900's by Eleanore Roosevelt. The lobby was stunning. This is a real beauty and I believe it is all walnut under paint.Restore it back and uncover a gem.It has a wonderful design and carvings as picture shows. The creative reuse projects for newels are seemingly limitless. Apply a weather-resistant finish. And plant one at the end of your driveway to serve as support for a mailbox or as a signpost on which to nail your house numbers or hang a shingle. A matched set of salvaged newels can be attached to either side of an old door to make a one-of-a-kind headboard. Antique Solid Oak Architectural Acanthus Carved Victorian Newel ? Post Column
Solid oak post or column measuring about 23 1/4" tall. The diameter of the plain end measures about 5" and the other end where the carving is measures about 7" in diameter. Some areas of the column are straight cut oak while on 2 sides there is tiger oak grain showing. This piece is unfinished. The end with the carving is flat on the bottom while the other end is concave.There is a small piece of the turned ring near the carved portion that is missing. Also there is a tight age crack extending about 2" long from the end of the plain side and some dark spots on the turned ring on the bottom. Thank you for viewing. This is a superbly cut crystal newel post with ornate brass or bronze hardware. The newel post has been mounted on a white marble base. The post including the marble base is 6 1/8 inches high. Heavily carved oak newel post & 3 others circa late 1800s
First let me state I believe the wood is oak but iam not sure.The carved newel post is a true work of art restore it back to original wood and this is a fine piece of period workmanship.To have this item made would not only cost a fortune but possibly could not be duplicated.The other posts where at the ends of the staircase at the 2nd and 3floors they are 87-85-79 inches tall by 5 inches wide with cut outs as pictures show.The front carved post is 60x6-1/2 with cut out at bottom 44 inches from top point take a good look at the pictures this has fine detail hidden under paint.Its a true winner all the way for any other info email or call Vinny 1-631-300-7403 thanks.

Newel posts..? Pr of 19thc Wood Carvings of Ancient warriors.
This pair of Warriors are well carved. Left and a right figureheads. Both bearing St George shields, they are helmeted and have their feet and domes, flattened/squared off. Someone has mounted these on a pair of wooden brackets for display. But easy to remove. Could be used to enhance a staircase, or maybe a piece of furniture. where I believe they originally came from) These warriors have similarities but are different. One is chubbier than his brother in the face. Neck and thighs. Giving the impression of perhaps, a story to be found? Difficult to be precise. But probably mid 19thc. They're 18 inches high and weigh about 5lb.

Hardwood newel post we believe to be walnut and from the 1880s. Its original dark stained finish is in good shape. Has very nice turnings. It was notched at the base were it passed through the floor.On the part that passed through the floor is a chunk missing. It could be easily cut to adapt it to your needs. It measures aprox. 60" tall X 5 3/4" overall.
