I believe they are old growth pine; could be another type of wood as each weighs in at 2.75 lbs. Interesting shape and their weight makes them ideal as bookends or table-top architectural sculpture. Paint finish is chippy and'grungy' from age; there appears to be but two layers of paint, making removal an easy job. Please expect the usual wear from outdoor exposure. Nail holes on these pieces are found on the unfinished, unexposed sides; the occasional nail or hole is possible on other areas, but for the most part these pieces are'clean. I purchased these from an antique dealer in Carmel several years ago. Who had lived in Bali and Indonesia and had these shipped over many years ago. They stand stand 17" 17.5" tall(one a tad bigger than other) Including a 2" thick top, ... moreapproximately 50" in circumference, measured around the middle. Base is about 3" thick and measures about 14" with octagonal corners. Top measures 19"x 20" for one, other is 18.5"x 19" These are beyond fabulous for tables! They are so heavy and solid. I would guess they weigh at least 100 pounds plus, or more. Original paint, pinks, yellows, greens, more, all deeply carved with the ancanthus leaves, portion of a face in one. Symbolic I am sure, but I only know that they are antique, solid hand carved, with beautifully weathered old natural rustic paint. They are carved all the way around. I cannot hardly move to photo! Beyond shabby chic! Fabulous patina! The natural wear of salvage but that is their beauty! One side on each has a crack that doesn't go through that only adds to the patina. Please see photo of the only one to me, of any consequence, does mot interfere with use. Usually when found they are all cracked from weather but these still retain their artistic solid qualities! The fireplace was imported from Italy by George D. Hale who built his mansion shortly after the Civil War. Hale was a professor. Scholar, and founder of the Hale Classical and Scientific School. Professor Hale was a graduate of the University of Rochester and a leader in civic and religious activities in Rochester, NY. He served as President of the Board of First Baptist Church for many years, was an active Republican and know widely throughout the area for his extensive library. He died in February, 1925 at the age of 81. The top portion of the fireplace is about 72 inches wide and 24 inches deep. The top right corner of the fireplace has a missing piece that measures 4 inches wide by ... more1 inch deep. The top panel with all of the hand carved figures is about 18 inches tall. 60 inches wide, and 20 inches deep. The columns are each 42 inches tall. 6 inches wide, and 8 inches deep. Rarely do I find a window with such vibrant color as this one. I was told that it was salvaged from the Pennsylvania area. The window is very old and yet in great condition. The colors are greenish turquoise blue, bright yellow, orange, light blue, purple and brown. You will not be disappointed in this one! Please inspect the pictures carefully. Description This is a newel post that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted. The original cap is intact and is trimmed in ornate molding. There are applied carved panels at the top on 3 sides. The shaft is fluted with ornate moldings at the corners. It is notched for the step but is freestanding. It measures 49 inches tall and 8.5 inches square at the base and 6.75 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Hi for sale I have only two left Antique architectural salvaged wood carved porch Columns or pilllars. I believe the wood is pine. They are painted white and have a chippy patina. 2 soild ~4 sided pieces. Photos 1- 7 show the full piece columns. 8-12 show the 1/2 columns. The second photo shows how I have used a pair in my home. I added hang hood and heavy wire to the back of the columns. I then added a heavy phto hook to my wall, then I hung the columns to the wall. I have 2(1/2) SOLD, the 1/2 are sold. Antique Pair Electrical Wall Sconces LEVITON Architectural Salvage
Old pair of electrical wall sconces just recently salvaged from an older home in Florida. They will obviously need a restoration and wiring! No breaks or repairs to the iron bodies. I cleaned quickly with a wire brush and they appear to have been originally painted gold. Each measures 15-1/4 inches high and is 4-5/8 inches at the widest point. They protrude from the wall 6-3/4 inches. Black plastic insert into back of sconces is marked Leviton. I have the original mounting screws! Please contact me with any questions!
