Well-maintained antique condition, the frames are solid- there are some joints that show small lines of seperation, but nothing that affects the stability or useability of the piece. The cream paint and gilded areas are very good, there is some flaking to the gilding, and the front of the arms that would have received the most wear have seen some over-painting. 1920's Antique/Vintage Karpen Brown Sofa/Couch and Chair Living Room Set, Velmo
Late 1920's Karpen Brothers sofa/couch and chair. Made of Velmo(velour& mohair) I'm pretty sure this came from the Chicago factory. The set has a resemblence to the Charles II style Karpen had sold. I believe the wood carving is mahogany wood. The cushions are tapestry on one side and can be reversed to solid brown velmo on the other. Selling as-is- it has been well used. The entire set is need of reupholstering and I am in no way inferring that it is otherwise. The backs. Arms, and feet are still solid. The carving at the top of the chair is cracked but it is all there and can be glued. The Monks style leather sofa was made for comfortable lounging rather than correct sitting posture in mind. While both styles seek to achieve a certain look, the Monks concentrates more on comfort. The result is a gorgeous couch that you can have a lazy day in anytime! Originally made in England sometime around the year 1980. This leather is a top grade leather ... morethat was semi-aniline dyed a gorgeous oxblood(burgundy) color. Semi-aniline dyed leather is ideal for sofas as it provides wonderful color while maintaining a protective layer of“finish” on the leather. With a seating area that measures 48.5″ wide x 25″ deep and is 15.5 from the floor, there is plenty of space to relax! The arm rests are a comfortable 21.5″ from the floor. This couch has not been refurbished. It is in the original factor sold condition and has not been polished yet either. As found in the estate. Sold as bought. The wood shape is amazing on both Eagle heads and on the back board flags and badge. The wood color is great and after polish should be amazing. The couch measures over 80" long and 34 1/2" tall at its tallest point. The rope work on the bottom has some missing/ broken of(DEPICTED) make sure you see this before bidding. With a little searching you can get a good match or just sculpt your own out of compound. The fabric is complete and un ripped as well. The seat cousion area has some lumps in it as depicted. 2 of the tufts/ buttons are missing but their back plates are still anchored, this is an easy fix. The legs are complete as far as the the wood goes but are a little loose ... moreand need attention/ glue/ work before too many people sit on it at once. We were lucky to come across a case of these"katsuji" Japanese typewriter"keys" There are over 2300 of these. They are vintage but have never been used. These would have been the extras in case the ones in the machine broke. Please look at the last picture to see what an old Japanese typewriter looked like. There were at least 2000 keys so needless to say. This was only used in businesses. They are from the"昭和" showa period" The"showa" period is from 1926-1989 but these are at least 30 years old as Japanese stopped using them once the word processor was invented. This would be perfect for using as a stamp with ink or for stamping clay etc. This stamp is the Kanji(Chinese character) for"so" bed. Couch. Offered in this sale enjoy this fabulous sofa and swivel rocker chair. Both pieces have exposed wooden frames skillfully upholstered in orange and olive leather. The sofa measures 85" across from armrest to armrest x 33" tall. Each back cushion measures 25" square. The seat cushions measure 25" across x 20" deep. All the cushions are all attached and tufted. One covered button has some very minor damage and a slight indentation is visible on one cushion. Please see the photos. Diverse lot of vintage Barbie dolls and furniture. Midge's hair is a bit dreadlock like. The sheen on her pants is gone in some areas. She's missing her earrings and ring.
