Few white marks on one arm which may be paint. One small wood piece missing on one arm. Can be reproduced. Very beautiful couch in what looks to be scalamandre fabric so it may have been reupolstered as is common with these antiques. This couch measures 78" wide, 33" tall and 28" deep. Exquisite Piece Was my mom's. She purchased it as an antique about 50 years ago It was sent to a very very bad man to have upholstered. And he stripped the fabric off only(Montclair, NJ) and kept her deposit. Anyway this is the real deal in antique sofa's. It has original horsehair stitching. Springs were updated in the 60's I believe. The wood work is in good shape. Has some normal wear from age, it just needs some TLC. The sofa is 6 feet from arm to arm, exterior measurement(about a 5 ft inside) it stands 32 inches high and about 33 inches deep. Also the rear back right leg was repaired at the joint where it meets the frame by a professional recently. The springs were redone in the 60-70's I think when my mom bought it. She paid $1200 then. This Lady's sofa is in very fine condition. The mahogony or stained walnut wood has been maintained and the upholstery is in very good condition. The sofa is in the Duncan Phyfe(1770-1854)style who was one of the master craftsmen to first use paper labels but many of his paper labels did not last. Many decades before, around the early 1950's, he discovered this Duncan Phyfe sofa in front of his home, about ready to be carted away. He convinced the owner to let him have it, and it was in his home for many decades. Notice the American Eagle and Arrows pattern at the center top. I have no idea the age of this Duncan Phyfe sofa. Leather Duncan Phyfe sofa
This a a very comfortable sofa that sat in my Mother's living room and while it is used. It is great condition with the spring very strong and in tack. The leather is in great condition on the inside and outside back and the arms inside and outside as well. The bottom or seat has NO tears or rips, but a few light stains from where one of the grandchildren used to press his baby(milk) botton against it. I will try to get some close ups to add, but the light in my garagei is not strong enough for them to show up. I am also listing an almost new Henredon leather sofa that I purchased and keep whichever one does not sell. I really love this sofa but do not have a place for two sofas. This would be a project for the more serious woodworker or furniture upholsterer, the decorative applique on the front center lower rail is damaged and has sections missing on each side. An absolutely marvelous example of craftsmanship. The crest rail is exquisitely carved from a thick solid plank of mahogany; two nearly identical panels capture oak leaves tied together with flowing ribbon flank the larger central panel of opposing cornucopia overflowing with sheaves of wheat and fruits. These magnificent landscapes are of exceptional quality, each tiny detail carefully and painstakingly brought to life under the artists knife. The crest rail has a soft backward ... morecurvature, completing the cyma form of the back that so harmoniously mirrors the curve of the arms and sharper bow of the legs. All edges are molded with delicate reeding, giving a distinct angularity to the curvy Greco-Roman inspired form. The tip of each arm is capped with deep floral rosettes carved of the solid, these flowing up from the panels over both legs, each depicting drapery hanging from floral rosettes with a large tassel focal point. The legs terminate in well formed Lion Paw feet over a ball-bearing caster, this original on all feet and still functioning smoothly. Most importantly, the finish on the sofa is just outstanding- very early and quite possibly original, the grimy surface preserves a well patinated mahogany beneath the alligatored crackling of old shellac. The material is an ivory floral pattern with sheen and the wood frame is dark with fanciful claw foot legs. Measurements(approximate) 75 inches long(arm to arm) 35 inches high(floor to highest curve on back of frame) 29 inches deep(cushion to frame) The photos depict the imperfections on the cushions. Pre 1950s Duncan Phyfe Style Mahogany Sofa - Original Upholstery
This Duncan Phyfe Style sofa is from our grandmother's collection. It is in very good. Original condition. Mahogany wood is in great shape, with some minor wear given the age of the piece. There is a small chip(see photo) on the back wood frame. Fabric is in excellent condition, no fading, loose threads or stains. Cushions are plump and comfortable and have working zippers. There appears to be two coil springs that need to be re clipped, however they do not create an uncomfortable seating surface and the sofa is ready for use immediately. The sofa has been in my husband's office and more of a show piece versus actual use. Very little use and we are a non smoking home. We prefer local pickup. But are willing to work with a shipper of your choice should you care to pay freight.

Antique Duncan Phyfe Sofa 1940s Original Owner Excellent Condition
This is a Duncan Phyfe sofa from the 1940s which has been in my family since that time. I have owned it for over 35 years(my grandmother had it before then) I have had it reupholstered twice during that time. It is in excellent condition. The current upholstery is a Robert Allen chenille fabric in a beige/taupe pattern that mixes and matches with everything from traditional prints and stripes to contemporary decor. I've used it in all of these settings. The upholstery is in excellent condition- no rips. Tears, stains, or odors- foam was all replaced and the sofa has been barely used. Any shading of the fabric seen on the photos is the result of the nap of the fabric, which, when rubbed in one direction will look slightly different. The wood trim is in good condition- probably has some minor scuffs. But nothing so noticeable that it would ... moredetract from the look or use of the sofa. Wood legs are solid. One leg was broken off in the reupholstery process but was professionally repaired. The sofa is solid and sturdy, and quite comfortable for naps! The sofa measures 80" in length; is 33" wide. Height to the top of the back is 32" height to the top of the arm is 26" I love that this sofa is much smaller than today's sofa monsters. It's difficult to find a smaller profile in sofas today. I am offering this sofa at a very reasonable price in the hopes it will find another great home that will love it and care for it as much as our family has. I love this sofa. Unfortunately. I bought it while my husband was away for the weekend, and I wanted to surprise him, but he HATES it! He is very upset and it needs to go, so I have priced it at an incredible reasonable price because now we have two sofas in our living room, andhe wants to keep the original one. MEN! All the feet have their brass claw feet. There are 2 nice roll arm pillows. Whoever did the upholstery on this did a really nice job. Notice the double welting and the detail in the roll arm pillows. The wood frame is in excellent condition. I owned it for 5 days before listing it. There are no rips or tears or smells or stains or anything like that. I wasn't excited about the fabric at firs.
