Vintage Mid-Century Modern Custom Tweed & Houndstooth Pattern Couch Sofa UNIQUE!
I am offering a very unique 1960's/70's mid-century modern couch. I am not sure of the maker. But I am pretty certain that it is a professional custom piece. It's build extremely well.nice and solid. The best part about this piece is that the fabric is near perfect! It measures 96" long x 35" wide and has a black/charcoal color tweed fabric with black and white hounds-tooth patterned cushions. Another unique feature is that this couch has no legs.it sits on top of 2 large wood cylinders that are covered in a very thick form of chrome colored vinyl. There are also separate arm covers that are the same pattern as the couch, to protect the arms. Even the covers are nearly perfect! The cushions are all removable and reversible. The couch is very deep and sits low, as they typically did during this period. The original owner ... morejust went into an assisted living facility. And never had any children, so the sofa was rarely used in their recreational room. Although I hate to part with such a unique piece. Vintage 1940s Monterey Style Couch and Wingback Paddle Arm Chair each with a magazine stash compartment on each side of the furniture piece. Both the sofa and chair have been newly upholstered in Spruce Green Chenille. Original wood finish features distressed edges and original hand painted cactus on the fronts of both the sofa and chair in true Rancho California Spanish Revival form. The name of the manufacturer is faded on the original tag. However it can be seen that it was manufactured in Los Angeles, California during the 1940s for a furniture store in Portland, Oregon named Star Furniture Company. This auction is for an antique(circa 1915-1920) small sized wall telephone made by the S.H. COUCH CO of Norfolk Downs(Norfolk Downs is a neighborhood located in the Northern part of Quincy. Massachusetts) It is in very nice condition. It has a metal body/case. That is 4" by 6.75" in size. The finish appears to be black baked enamel or possibly porcelain coated steel. It is in very good condition with no dings or dents. About its only faults are some white wall type paint around the edge of the case(looks like someone painted a wall without removing the phone at some time in the past) The earpiece is in very good condition(it is made of metal with a screw on bakelite cover) The internal electrical and mechanical parts all seem to be in great undamaged condition. The fabric is a pretty gold yellow color. The wood has a great design. The both pieces stand 3 3/4" high and the couch is 3 3/4" across the back wide.
