Antique Couch Sofa Settee Carved Wood Ornate BEAUTIFUL!
This was bought at an estate sale in Virginia. I know little about it but was told by the seller that it is from the 1800s. That's not verified. It's really lovely and with updated upholstery it would be gorgeous. The upholstery is in good shape except for the arm where the binding is loose. There are 2 spots where the wood is marred but otherwise looks good to me.very ornate. Casters on front legs. The bottom lining is a bit loose and burlap is visible under the lining. Antique American Empire Carved Mahogany Sofa Settee Circa 1830-1850
A beautiful American Empire sofa/settee. Amazing carved mahogany details with olive green mohair upholstery. Measures approximately 64 inches long x 24 inches deep x 34 1/2 inches tall at the back. The round fluted crest rail has downturned curved ends on either side with acanthus leaf carvings above a smooth curved back. The front of the arms have carved cherries. Pears, oak leaves, acanthus leaves, and nuts framed by a cartouche of C scrolls. Feather design carving on legs with paw feet. Possibly made in New York. There is overall fading on the upholstery along with a worn spot on the back, a tear on the side, and the trim is loose in one section(see photos) Appraised at 2,300. This settee has been well cared for and will provide many years of enjoyment for the new owner.

C. 1910-40 Item# 130012KYW02 Hand crafted and carved in the first half of the 20th Century. This wonderful antique recamier is the epitome of charm. With a delightful mellowed brown velvet covering, which in our opinion is in quite nice condition for it's age and certainly not something we would consider changing(though it does have minor discolorations and blemishes here and there, none particularly noteworthy) it is of a perfect tone to blend well with most interiors; the worn painted surface and tonal warmth bring a certain magnetism to the settee. The simple carved and molded frame flows around the settee very naturally, the arms wrapping ... morearound to hug the deeply upholstered cushion; the entire form rests over turned and tapered stop-fluted legs in the French taste, terminating in plain ball toes. It is an outstanding find for decorators and anyone passionate about the French taste in furnishings. Sturdy and strong. It is a comfortable piece for regular relaxed enjoyment in any formal room in the home. Measurements: 78" wide x 28" deep x 33" high at highest point of the crest; 19" high to cushion; seating area is 22" deep x 66" wide Condition Report: Heavily worn gray painted surface. Leaving much of the gesso and underlying frame exposed- however, we do find the wear attractive and would not suggest any work be done to restore it as it is rather endearing. Oscar Wilde A Good c.1930 Art Deco Period Leather Club Sofa Period: Art Deco Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1925-35 Height: 31.5 inches Width: 62 inches Depth: 36 inches(all at maximum) The early twentieth century quality leather and close studwork upholstered two-seater sofa. Hailing from the Art Deco period, having cigar shaped arms, the whole of deep and roomy proportions sitting on Deco inspired angular fanned feet. In what we like to describe as‘country house condition’ The sofa is in fair to good overall condition. She does not require re-springing or any major structural repairs and she is sturdy and with no replacement parts. The leather to the whole is of good quality and is worn, but appealingly so, ... morenow wonderfully supple. There are old patches and three tears present to include one to the lower front, four to her back, two of which are patched and one area of peel to a shoulder. Although none of the tears are too detrimental to the whole, indeed they could be repaired, she is suitably priced to reflect these imperfections. Hepplewhite style curved settee bench sofa couch (will arrange shipping)
I purchased this elegant settee about 10 yrs ago at the HADA antiques show in Houston. While the piece looks delicate and somewhat uncomfortable. It is neither. The frame is very solid and stiff, and the upholstered seat is spring-y and at a good height. It seats 3 people with room to spare in between, and the curved shape makes it good for conversation among the occupants. The back has a very comfortable pitch. The last pic is from some research I did into original Hepplewhite styles. And found these drawings showing the same inlay detail(left chair) and an even more elegant settee back rail design(although not curved! The natural color fabric is as I bought it. But we had an accidental champagne spill, as shown in the detail photo. I towel-washed it, but have not tried my Hoover rug/upholstery cleaner. I turned the piece over to take a ... morelook underneath: bottom lining has been ripped in a couple of places that exposed the webbing and springs- when I took decorative pillows off to turn over. I found some linear marks that I was unaware of before. I tried scraping off with my fingernail to no avail. I don't know what made them- I also found a nick in the back of one of the vertical ribs of the back. Down near the upholstery.about 3/8" x 3/8" I also noticed a"dovetail" peg in the center back rail. I have started some requests for shipping quotes. Thinking I might find a carrier for $200 or so. It has been a while since I bought a piece of furniture on eBay, and I may have underestimated the cost with current gas prices! I have an indicative estimate from uShip of $350-450 for 50-75lbs between Houston and Seattle. Just in time for the new Dowton Abby! Throw a small party and watch on this authentic antique. I acquired this at a very upscale Los Angeles area estate sale. Yes the Burgundy upholstery does need to be re done. It has seen better days, or should I say centuries. But the bones, the structure are in great, and excellent condition. It is a strong solid piece, made of mahogany,that' what I've been told. I am not an expert in these at all. I also understand it is from the mid 1800"s. This piece is going to be around for quite a bit more time! The measurements are approx 7 feet long, 25 inches wide. Hi for sale I have a freshly reupholstered antique settee. My upholster upon recovering the piece discovered that the settee is from the late Victorian era. Very rare to see a painted piece of this age. He also thought that the settee might be European. Possibly Italian or French. At one time the settee was on castors or wheels. The piece sits a little low, so if you want more height you could add some castors. There are fittings for the castors on the bottom of the legs. At this height the settee is perfect for a bedroom or master bath. As stated in the title, I have had this piece totally cleaned, fixed, tightend, new cushions, new padding and I have had it recovered by a professional. with that said, the fabric, labor and materials added up to a great sum. We are pleased to offer this gorgeous. Mid Century Modern bench sofa chair with attached end tables. This unique piece was initially used in the lobby of a Commerce Bank in Missouri in the 1960s and had been with the same owner since the 1980s until we acquired them. The bench is SOLID and features a hardwood frame. The bench section is padded lightly and covered in the original aqua(green/blue) fabric. The drum tables are located and attached on each end. They feature a walnut/pecan wood veneer. The bench(please note that the listing is for one bench but we do have two available) is quite sturdy and was constructed to use(not just look good) It could be used in a number of rooms from the entry hall to the living room. It has a great profile! The bench is in good condition. There is very little evidence of wear to the fabric. The drum tables ... moredo have some scratches. Particularly to the lower sections. There are a couple of minor chips to the veneer in these sections as well(cleaning crew bumped with vacuum? With very little effort, they can be restored to their original glory. As they are, they are quite lovely and afford lots of character! The end tables are bolted to the benches and do come apart. This way, you can recover the fabric if you so desire and could stain the drum tables as well(see picture 11) The holes in the drums are threaded inside which is a nice feature as well. The benches are identical. They measure 7 feet in length. They are 19" deep(front to back) The seat height is 19" tall and the tables are 20.5" tall. The tables are 19" in diameter. Gorgeous antique cast iron French bed. Completely restored and now a beautiful bench, settee, chaise, sofa, etc. Marked 1840 on inside of one leg(see photo 7) this piece has been sandblasted and repainted in classic off white/ivory/cream, and the custom upholstery is brand new in a gorgeous smoky charcoal velvet. Two bolster pillows included. 64"w x 31"h x 26.5"d. Wheat accents above each leg(photo 2) Old repair(photo 5) Photo 6 shows a small square bit- I don't know what that was for but it does not detract.
