This is the real McCoy. The Genuine Article. The iconic and highly-sought after Brandt Ranch Oak solid oak frame, spring loaded sofa/ couch with all six original Turquoise spring-loaded, heavy cotton-batting padded cushions. This fine piece of classic 1950's furniture is in need of some restoration in order to bring it back to showroom condition. But is perfectly useable now as a rustic piece of functional furniture. The 6 original sofa cushions are still extremely strong structurally. They are spring loaded with heavy cotton batting that never breaks down over time, like contemporary furniture filler. Each cushion is about three or four times as heavy as a standard cushion, and still feels very supportive when you sit on, or rest against, each one. But their are chips and rips in the Naugahyde, and in order to be brought back to pristine, ... morethe cushions will need to be recovered. If you are facing the couch. The left hand side rear-back-side brace(the piece that is the edge of the back and also the piece that the left arm attaches to) has a small chip roughly an inch long in the wood. I have taken a close-up photograph of this in the photo gallery. Underneath the left arm, someone has re-glued the arm, probably to restore a tight joint fit. The joint is indeed tight, but a little trickle of dried glue is evident. Finally, while all the springs underneath have tremendous strength and buoyancy remaining, two of the clips that hold the many springs in place have come loose, and the springs will need to be re-clipped for those springs to work properly. As I am sure any prospective buyer of this piece knows. Oak and tufted velvet fainting sofa built around 1890 Eastlake Co.
I have up for bid an Oak and tufted velvet fainting sofa. It was built around 1890. I believe, by the Charles Eastlake Company(you can tell by the Eastlake straight lines carved in the oak) with a heart carved in the top of the back. The back is removable and the two arms have 6 positions that they will crank down or up for comfort. This sofa was professionally recovered. The sofa also has carved feet. In the first picture the back is 43” tall. 62” wide and the seat is 27” deep. It is very comfortable. I noticed in the heart in the back there is a line on the fabric that I never noticed before but it doesn’t appear to be a flaw in the material. I just want to point everything out. This is a rare, beautiful sofa that will look great in your home. We have never seen one like this one before. Beautiful Arts& Crafts/ Mission Settee/ Bench Seat/ Settle This is a wonderful settee which is very sturdy and in original finish. It does have some issues which are pictured. Someone carved into one arm and the other arm is missing part of the through tenon which was nailed at one point. Someone also used red colored wood putty to fill some cracks on that same arm. The back stretcher was also removed with it being cut even to the back side posts on each side. It does not include the original seat and we have been using it. As we bought it, with a board/foam and material. With all that said. It is a really nice piece used as is or could be restored. Mission Arts & Crafts knockdown settle couch sofa Stickley type Quartersawn oak
I have a truly massive. Unusual Arts and Crafts knockdown settle for sale. This settle is a rare, enormous beast of a piece of furniture. Measurements are: 86" long, 33" deep, and 36.5" tall(without casters) Wood thicknesses are incredible, even the unusual leg veneer is 1/4" average wood thicknesses are 1"1.25" All solid wood, except for the thick veneering on the legs. The bench seat is a replacement, with 8-way hand tied springs. All the upholstery is leather in perfect condition. The leather alone cost over $1500 on this piece, and looks beautiful. Wood is all beautiful quartersawn oak with original finish. The only problems to note: the front right leg has some veneer chipping on the corner. Please see the photo. The back piece has some shallow knot holes, also pictured. The board can be faced back and never ... moreseen, I just did not bother to do so. The pegs are all replaced, and we are missing 3-4 of them(they fit too tightly and were damaged upon removal. These are an easy replacement. Another note: this couch is not particularly comfortable! This austere work from the workshop of Gustav Stickley is an impressive object. The solid oak and oak veneers glow under years of waxing, the finish is soft and velvety with warm mellowed hues and a deep patina from the oxidized charm of use. The back leg retains the decal of the Stickley shop used during the years of 1905-12. It is in every way a very fine investment grade selection. The best designer out of Denmark circa 1950's-1960's. This is a gorgeous example of the sofa manufactured by Getama of Denmark circa 1950's-1960's. All original springs are strong and sturdy. Nothing short of comfortable and stylish. It is signed and in wonderful vintage condition. A nice patina and warm glow on the wood frame.
