The frame appears to be a beautiful walnut wood. The rear legs section is a little loose at their doweled junction. Appears to need regluing. This sofa does not seem to fold down for a day bed. Sofa table; this bench came in three sizes, this is the largest of the three at 6ft long or 225cm. please carefully view supersize pictures and ask questions. i am not a furniture expert or the original owner but will do my best to honestly describe the piece. all original from the fifties. Table top has not been refinished and shows stains and marks but no chips. Remnants of Fabric 1977 by Manuel Canovas on Selvedge Circa 1960 6 Seater three piece sectional Superior sofa. Please read entire listing(First three pics are accurate depiction of color and tone) Beneath the full coiled back and bases with lasagna metal coiling remains the fabric of Manuel Canovas dated 1977. This material- and the construction of this sofa was fairly limited to a number of makers such as Edward Wormley of Dunbar. Tommi Parzinger and Harvey Probber. There once existed a certified vintage reupholster in West Virginia called"Jim's upholstery" which went out of business decades ago and they were the ones who reupholstered this sofa in it's present form. It is also possible they changed the legs on the sofa as well as they- while being vintage- do not come across as original. Though they may be. The quality ... moreof this sectional can not be over-stated. Spring backs with rope. Twine and lasagna metal coils mean this sofa was made to last and is as comfortable and supportive as the day it was made. The slanting of the back and tufting is highly suggestive of Probber's work. The cushions are sealed. And the fabric is premium quality as we estimate was reupholstered in the late 70's. The foam is still usable though it is starting to become less soft from age. The original green vinyl is in overall good condition with no rips or holes. I have not seen anything like it or so complete as having the matching tables and chair. The round chair is spectacular on its own. Awesome orange color very sought after color these days. One of my favorites besides black and purple. The brigher orange depicts the color during day and the darker photos depict a more true evening color. My daughter and I will surely miss this group. My daughter is actually quite upset with me for sellling it. She wants me to keep it till she moves out.seventeen and not going anywhere soon, I have to part with it.
