Vintage Eames Era Mid Century Danish Modern Walnut Charles Sofa Settee Couch
This is a beautiful vintage Danish modern 2 piece sofa/ settee. The sofa looks to have beautiful teak or walnut hardwood. I am not sure of the which the wood is. But it is pretty and hard. The tag says made for CHARLES. NEW YORK. The sofa is being sold as-is. The fabric is a light tweed that will have to be replaced because of fading/stains. The cushions are made of hog hair and horse hair and are very heavy. The sofa itself needs minor repairs that would be done with reupholstering. There is one leg that broke off. But just needs a new dowel glued in. There is some give on the backside of both sofas where the armrest is. Also the armrests have just a little give to them. The back of the sofa is sturdy if you push on it from the front. I am not sure, but would guess this can be fixed/ tightened when the fabric is off. The wood is in good ... moreused condition. It has some minor scratches/scuffs and paint marks that should be rubbed out with an oil or wood refinisher. There is a nick in the back corner of the right sofa's leg. This mid-century modern sofa was manufactured in Denmark by Dux. A San Francisco-based company started by Swedish designer Folke Ohlsson in 1957. To our knowledge, it was produced between 1957 and 1960. The sofa is in very good. Original condition, and includes the original Dux label. Upholstery is original and in great condition with no tears or stains. There are some scuffs to the legs(see photos) and the foam from the cushions could use replacement, but it is useable as-is. We purchased this couch less than two years ago from an estate sale in Western Connecticut. To that point it only had one owner. And it was clear that it had hardly been used in a formal living room. This is a beautiful vintage 60s sofa loveseat. The walnut wood frame looks exactly like an Adrian Pearsall design. Maybe it is, but I don't think so. The sofa is a solid and sturdy piece it has the craftsmanship of a top of the line manufacturer. The loveseat is reupholstered with a new old stock fabric from the 60s and it comes with 2 cute round pillows. The foam has also been replaced. Harvey Probber Dunbar Corner Sectional sofa vintage mid century modern
No decor is complete without the perfect lighting. And here is one of the best! Remnants of Fabric 1977 by Manuel Canovas on Selvedge Circa 1960 6 Seater three piece sectional Superior sofa. Please read entire listing(First three pics are accurate depiction of color and tone) Beneath the full coiled back and bases with lasagna metal coiling remains the fabric of Manuel Canovas dated 1977. This material- and the construction of this sofa was fairly limited to a number of makers such as Edward Wormley of Dunbar. Tommi Parzinger and Harvey Probber. There once existed a certified vintage reupholster in West Virginia called"Jim's upholstery" which went out of business decades ago and they were the ones who reupholstered this sofa in it's present form. It is also possible they changed the legs on the sofa as well as they- while ... morebeing vintage- do not come across as original. Though they may be. The quality of this sectional can not be over-stated. Spring backs with rope. Twine and lasagna metal coils mean this sofa was made to last and is as comfortable and supportive as the day it was made. The slanting of the back and tufting is highly suggestive of Probber's work. The cushions are sealed. And the fabric is premium quality as we estimate was reupholstered in the late 70's. More odd is the presence of another selvedge with fabric patterns suggesting either this piece had original Manuel Canovas fabric done over even older fabric as it is floral in nature. The measurements for the sectional are as follows: Wall to outer edge is 97.5" both ways. It is 29" tall. The seat height is 16" with the arm rest height of 21.5" The sofa is 33.5" deep with cushions 21.5" deep. The condition of the fabric is excellent with only the mildest signs of use. Scuffs. Mid Century Armless 1960's Loveseat Settee Sofa Danish Modern
Mid century. 1962 armless small sofa/loveseat w/ nubby fabric mostly in very good condition except for wear on corner, The front legs are a different style than the back and need to be shined up. The pillows and seat cushion are not attached and are reversible. The foam in them should be replaced(seat is hard and back pillows are sagging) an easy fix since they have zippers.Looks pretty nice for its age. This item is only available for pick-up. This is a three piece mid-century modern set for use inside or for the lenai or sunroom. In the style of Herman Miller. Eames, this set boasts heavy construction with heavy iron seating part with iron reinforcement. The sides are some kind of composite, perhaps an early fiberglas. It is possibly indestructible. Vintage Mid-Century Panton Eames Era Modern Fiberglass Sleep Sofa
Up for auction is a vintage fiberglass sleeper sofa with removable black fabric cushions with zippers. I had the cushions recovered. Fiberglass is in great shape except for 2 spots on the arms(see pics) that the previous owners put fiberglass filler and it is not glossy and an off white on those spots. You can probably go to a body shop that works on fiberglass autos to find out how to buff it. I was going to but it never bothered me enough and doesnt really stand out. Mattress is in good shape no tears some stains. I never tried to clean it. I also included pics from a vintage book that the sofa was mentioned. There is a small tear in the caning at the bottom of the sofa(under the right end cushion) The cushions are original to the sofa. All are in good condition. However, one has a seam tear as shown in the picture. This was covered with duct tape but could be repaired properly. The set was part of an inherited estate and was well taken care of. Seat height is 16" Poor Condition. Signs of water damage-has water stains and a faint musty smell. Was stored in a basement and not well cared for. Definitely needs re-upholstery. Very Rare- Ordered by customer from Sweden Direct 15 Huge interlocking cushions- 100's of configurations Circa 1960's- All original 240 Square Feet of Fabric used. 250 feet of rope. Each"cushion" is 30.5" long. 10.5" high and 20.5" deep. All interlock if desired with"S" hooks. Very sturdy Perfect for the Relax nook. The living area& can be stacked. Ultimate Danish/ Swedish design is present in this exceptionally rare modular sofa by Overman. One of the most unique and comfortable Mid Century items we have discovered. Of which little can be found on-line or elsewhere. This is a very large and substantial modular unit that laid out covers over 64 square feet. Other modular sectionals can be floppy. But with the rope design and S hooks this holds it's form and will not move around. The cushions/ ... morepillows have thick high density urethane foam in them. So when you lay down on them they do not sink as deep as the lighter foam- you sink only a few inches if at all. It is exceptionally comfortable and not like a"trampoline" The rope binds the cushions and featured here and there are"S" hooks that allow you to rigidly connect the cushions to one another for a strong hold. The great aspect of this piece is that it can be configured in almost any position you can think of. The material is a denim in appearance and is a form of denim. Marked multiple times on the cushions by the manufacturer. The condition is very good. On all the fabric there are a few cushions with minor stains. A few runs and one cushion has a 1/4" tear that is repaired. Overall the condition is remarkable. Please keep in mind for shipping this item is 56 cubic feet.
