An absolutely marvelous example of craftsmanship. The crest rail is exquisitely carved from a thick solid plank of mahogany; two nearly identical panels capture oak leaves tied together with flowing ribbon flank the larger central panel of opposing cornucopia overflowing with sheaves of wheat and fruits. These magnificent landscapes are of exceptional quality, each tiny detail carefully and painstakingly brought to life under the artists knife. The crest rail has a soft backward ... morecurvature, completing the cyma form of the back that so harmoniously mirrors the curve of the arms and sharper bow of the legs. All edges are molded with delicate reeding, giving a distinct angularity to the curvy Greco-Roman inspired form. The tip of each arm is capped with deep floral rosettes carved of the solid, these flowing up from the panels over both legs, each depicting drapery hanging from floral rosettes with a large tassel focal point. The legs terminate in well formed Lion Paw feet over a ball-bearing caster, this original on all feet and still functioning smoothly. Most importantly, the finish on the sofa is just outstanding- very early and quite possibly original, the grimy surface preserves a well patinated mahogany beneath the alligatored crackling of old shellac. Areas of high use and traffic have rubbed through this shellac and have a brilliant ruby glow to them, but much of the less trafficked areas on the sofa remain untouched and hazy. Exquisite crotch mahogany veneers applied in a matched repeating flame pattern on the exposed wood sections of the sofa. It is 90" wide. 28" deep, and 34" high. Circa 1820-1830. Finely carved swans in profile form the arms and built in bolsters. Reupholstered in a subtle tone-on-tone medallion/flower/wreath pattern in an ivory color. 1930's Mahogany Trimmed Sofa and Two Matching Chairs
This auction if for one sofa and two side chairs. The set was originally bought in the 1930's and then reupholstered in 1962 in the current fabric. The couch measures about 80 inches at the widest point. And 34 inches tall to the top of the filigree carving. The wingback chair is around 35 inches wide, and 39 inches tall to the top of the filigree carving. The other chair is around 35 inches wide, and 35 inches tall to the top of the filigree carving. The sofa has three shaped, carved feet in the front and two curved but not decorative feet in the back. The other two chairs have shaped, and carved feet in the front but only curved feet in the back. The fabric on the sofa and chairs are in excellent condition with only a bit of wear. 53126 ANTIQUE 1890s FRENCH EMPIRE CARVED MAHOGANY 80" ENCLOSED SOFA W CLAW FEET
A very finely carved antique. Circa 1890's, solid mahogany, dynamic shaped, French Empire style enclosed sofa. The front and back feet are carved claw on bun feet, the legs with carved stiff feathered wings. The skirt is carved as acanthus rosettes entwined. The arm supports are carved as stiff curving acanthus leaf, the terminal as an eagle head having acanthus neck. The back rest is carved as a swag of laurel and berry cross bound with ribbons. The fine modern fabric is a golden color with scrolling floral pattern. Sofa measures 80" wide by 46" tall by 29-1/2" deep. The seat proper measures 65" by 22" the surface of the seat 18" from the floor. Excellent condition: original dark red-brown unworn finish, no chips or cracks. The fabric is without soiling, fading, or wear.

Pre 1950s Duncan Phyfe Style Mahogany Sofa - Original Upholstery
This Duncan Phyfe Style sofa is from our grandmother's collection. It is in very good. Original condition. Mahogany wood is in great shape, with some minor wear given the age of the piece. There is a small chip(see photo) on the back wood frame. Fabric is in excellent condition, no fading, loose threads or stains. Cushions are plump and comfortable and have working zippers. There appears to be two coil springs that need to be re clipped, however they do not create an uncomfortable seating surface and the sofa is ready for use immediately. The sofa has been in my husband's office and more of a show piece versus actual use. Very little use and we are a non smoking home. We prefer local pickup. But are willing to work with a shipper of your choice should you care to pay freight.

Circa 1940 Mahogany frame Lovely carvings Three tears to upholstery Sturdy and strong, This very elegant antique chaise sofa is an English antique from sometime around the year 1940. The frame is a beautiful mahogany and it is currently upholstered with a striped fabric. This is a very sturdy sofa that was made with a stout frame. The fabric shows a little more white and less dirty than it appears in real life. Combine this with the three tears to the fabric that you can clearly see in the photos and we recommend that you have ... morethis piece reupholstered in your own fabric. The two cylinder shaped cushions are included. They do come off. They are not sewn into place. A great selection of mahogany was used to build the frame and has some very nice hand carved detail to it. Both the back rest and the arm rests are detailed with flora-like carvings that really help accent the overall elegant shape of the chaise. Four turned feet keep the entire piece sturdy and strong. The frame is in excellent condition with only a few minor wear marks here and there. The seating area measures 61″ wide and 20″ deep. The seat is 16″ high and the arm rests are 29.5″ high. This elegant antique chaise sofa would look great in any home or office! The arm rests have a lovely shape and are decorated with fine carvings. The turned feet are also quite sturdy.
