Here is a delightful mahogany Federal style settee with carved wood back. Traditional legs and recently reupholstered seat with scroll arms redone in an exquisite silk fabric, with quality craftsmanship throughout the piece. Sheraton style settee, solid mahogany, authentic reproduction
This was purchased from the Williamsburg collection and it is in excellent condition and very pretty. Everyone falls in love with this piece. But as I am moving, this will have to be sacrificed. I wouldn't recover as that is quite expensive with welts etc. but it looks just fine the way it is: even with some discoloration on the arms and a couple of stains. I had 2 large pillows made and they cover up any sins perfectly well. Even with the fading, it looks pretty and would fit in well with a traditional decor. I also have many yards of the beautiful Brunschwig fabric to buy. It is priced low because of the signs of wear. However, that being said, everyone loves this piece and no one goes down to the floor to examine the bottom of the legs. A little touch up with the stain pens should be helpful. But, the wood does show some wear around ... morethe bottom.

Antique American Empire Carved Mahogany Sofa Settee Circa 1830-1850
A beautiful American Empire sofa/settee. Amazing carved mahogany details with olive green mohair upholstery. Measures approximately 64 inches long x 24 inches deep x 34 1/2 inches tall at the back. The round fluted crest rail has downturned curved ends on either side with acanthus leaf carvings above a smooth curved back. The front of the arms have carved cherries. Pears, oak leaves, acanthus leaves, and nuts framed by a cartouche of C scrolls. Feather design carving on legs with paw feet. Possibly made in New York. There is overall fading on the upholstery along with a worn spot on the back, a tear on the side, and the trim is loose in one section(see photos) Appraised at 2,300. This settee has been well cared for and will provide many years of enjoyment for the new owner.

An absolutely marvelous example of craftsmanship. The crest rail is exquisitely carved from a thick solid plank of mahogany; two nearly identical panels capture oak leaves tied together with flowing ribbon flank the larger central panel of opposing cornucopia overflowing with sheaves of wheat and fruits. These magnificent landscapes are of exceptional quality, each tiny detail carefully and painstakingly brought to life under the artists knife. The crest rail has a soft backward curvature, completing ... morethe cyma form of the back that so harmoniously mirrors the curve of the arms and sharper bow of the legs. All edges are molded with delicate reeding, giving a distinct angularity to the curvy Greco-Roman inspired form. The tip of each arm is capped with deep floral rosettes carved of the solid, these flowing up from the panels over both legs, each depicting drapery hanging from floral rosettes with a large tassel focal point. The legs terminate in well formed Lion Paw feet over a ball-bearing caster, this original on all feet and still functioning smoothly. Most importantly, the finish on the sofa is just outstanding- very early and quite possibly original, the grimy surface preserves a well patinated mahogany beneath the alligatored crackling of old shellac. Areas of high use and traffic have rubbed through this shellac and have a brilliant ruby glow to them, but much of the less trafficked areas on the sofa remain untouched and hazy. Antique Empire Mahogany Settee With Leppord Upholstery Circa 1840's-50's This fabulous antique Empire mahogany settee or loveseat has an extensive carved mahogany frame especially around the front bottom border. Arms and highly carved hairy paw feet, even in the back. The upholstery is a leppord print which has been on the settee for about 30 years. It is slightly faded but in very good condition, no rips, soil spots or worn spots. The definition, proportion and exaggerated curves and detail make this piece really stand out and the upholstery helps. It is 60 inches wide, 26 inches deep, 36 inches at the highest mid-point on the back and is over all in great condition, frame is very tight and totally intact. Antique Queen Anne Style Mahogany Settee Sofa & Two Matching Chairs
This beautiful high quality mahogany matching set of settee and chairs possibly dates back to the turn of the century or earlier. They are in excellent condition with only a few minor scratches. There is only one metal screw showing- at the underside of the armless chair. All other connections have plugs. They are 40" tall, 22" wide, seats are 17" deep, the backs are 14" wide and the settee is 41" wide. As you can see there is extensive carving of acanthus leaves and clamshell designs with openwork throughout. The design in the lower part of the settee is the same as that of the middle part support of the arms of both the settee and chair. A very nice antique. Circa 1860's, Rococo Revival serpentine mahogany sofa settee. The crest is carved acanthus leaf scrolls. The front arm rest supports are scroll carved, the skirt above the front spade feet with a rectangular leaf rosette. It has been reupholstered with a golden yellow silky floral fabric. Settee measures 3'9" 45" tall by 7'2" 86" wide by 2'6" 30" deep, the seat 21" deep. Excellent condition: original finish to mahogany, no chips or cracks, minor finish scratches to backrest frame.
