Made in France for export to the South American market. This piece is part of a set that was purchased in the 1960's by an American Collector in Peru. She paid $20,000 for the set and we are selling the other matching sofa and the two chairs in another listing)The frames are heavily carved wood, with gilded floral motifs and other period-style elements, including some areas that look very Art Nouveau. Well-maintained antique condition, the frames are solid- there are some joints that show small lines of seperation, but nothing that affects the stability or useability of the piece. The cream paint and gilded areas are very good, there is some flaking to the gilding, and the front of the arms that would have received the most wear have seen some over-painting. Please note these are larger pieces than your normal sofa or setee from that era. Measurements: Outside width, measured at the front of the"arms" as this is the widest point of the sofa: 65.5" Height at the center top of the crest: 46" Total depth, front to back: 30" The cushion is 24.5" deep at the sofa's center. This amazing French antique sofa was made in the Louis XIII style with classic mutton feet! It was purchased from a Frenchman who brought the sofa with him when he moved from France to Florida. Although the age is uncertain. I estimate the sofa to be from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. While it needs to be reupholstered, it appears to be in good structural condition. The sofa is approx. 72" long and approx 40" tall from the floor to the top of the sofa by the arm. It does not include the height of the 3 curves along the back of the sofa. We are pleased to offer this beautiful and ornate. Newer vintage, sofa or entry table. The table dates to the early 1990s. It is made of cherry with a chocolate brown stain. Golden highlights are present as well. The table features cabriole legs with carved, acanthus leaves as well as ball and claw foot details. The apron sections are extremely detailed and ornate. They feature a carved/incised acanthus scroll and shell pattern which is present on all 4 sides. The top is in a stepped design and is very thick. There is a recessed, window pane feature which is designed for a glass top. The table is very nice. There is no manufacturer's marks but there is a patent sticker present. A very beautful antique. Circa 1860's, French style Rococo Revival carved walnut sofa. It has a finely carved scrolling crest and carved center front skirt. It has been reupholstered in a cream color fabric, the back rest tufted. Nicely refinished. It measures 3'11" 47" tall by 5'10" 70" wide by 2'6" 30" deep, the seat 22" deep. Very good plus condition: solid construction, front casters, fabric without wear or stains. The back is classic Louis XVI style but what sets it apart from others made at the same is the unique artist palate in the center of each chair as well as the sofa. The back and arms as well as the legs on all pieces are scrolled. Some of the gilt has worn off and you can see beautiful wood where that has happened. But the pieces are mainly gilt wood. This set is in excellent condition for its age(probably between 1875-1900) but the fabric has been replaced within the last fifteen years. It has not been used much because it came from an estate in France whose owners were elderly and rarely at home. In ... moreour house it is placed in one of two seating areas and is rarely used so it doesn't have any great signs of continual usage. In a few places the piping needs to be tacked down again and if you look closely you might find a few scratches but the set is so magnificent I have never gone over it for tiny flaws which all sets of this period would have. I have some real 18th century French Furniture and I must say I like the 19th Century and pre-War copies much better as you can really use them. The others are beautiful but too small for 21st century people. This is a gorgeous chaise in the style of Louis the XV. I purchased it in an antique shop in Hudson New York and was told it was from to early 1900's. It is upholstered in a lovely blue floral fabric. The wood frame is cream with blue trim. It is in immaculate condition. The chaise is full length it measures about 52 inches long by 26 inches wide it is 31 inches high to top of the crest and to the top of the cushion it is 17 1/2 inches. I paid over $1200 for this chaise and am only selling it as I am downsizing. This chaise would look wonderful in a bedroom or living room. It is kept in a pet free and smoke free home. This fine French Louis XV Style Settee still retains it's original hand stitched Aubusson upholstery. The scene is a work of art, the back capturing a pair of Peacocks and a pair of Ducks in a meadow framed in a border of swirling foliage and acanthus while the seat depicts a wolf dressed in a Shepherd's clothing as he creeps up on lambs at rest in the pasture. While the textile has darkened with time and dirt and numerous areas have lost their weave, the overall fabric remains stable and in outstanding condition for it's age. The settee is a fine piece of craftsmanship, the molded frame crested by a demilune display of flowers with gilt highlights, the surfaces throughout with traces of polychromed red and gold wash ... moreover patinated mahogany. The legs are joined with pinned tenon mortise construction, resulting in a very sturdy and stable seating piece despite well over a century of enjoyment. The legs are carved carefully with the typical display of flowers among acanthus leafage and terminating in scrolling toes. Beautiful hand carved French Provincial small-scale settee. The beautiful wood frame is painted glossy black. With yellow velvet upholstery offset with tack trim. Truly one of a kind antique. This is a genuine Karpen Bros french style mahogany sofa in very good condition. All the trim and frame are undamaged and the material is in decent shape for its age.I researched this piece after discovering the name Karpen Brothers Huntington Park,Ca under the frame and this would indicate it was built around 1930. It has 6 cushions and is covered in a beige striped silk blend with blush rose colored rose buds. a very nice material that should be dry cleaned not steam cleaned to prevent damage to the material there is some signs of wear and dinginess to the arms and some fraying to the binding on one of the cushions but otherwise no tears and no stains I was told by my aunt and grandmother that it had been appraised to be valued around $4500-5000 by an Antique furniture expert in L.A.at least 25 yrs ago.

SOFA FRAME: The sofa frame is generally in excellent. All original condition. No damages and no significant wear. No restorations. I am assuming most of what looks like wear is the original faux antique surface treatment. No chips. Cracks, breaks, splits. The caning is in excellent condition with no damages. Some light scattered wear to the paint finish. One of the nylon glides is absent. Embellished with an attractive mix of details carved of solid wood offset by gesso decorations under a burnished gilding. The crest rail is a complex display of twisted ribbon backed along the outer edge by twisting rope below the raised central motif of crossed torchieres. The open arm supports are delicately carved with a deep and robust acanthus carving, this furling over at the top in lifelike realism.
