In removing the current fabric, which screams of a 1970s reupholstery job, I found the seat was raised on plywood blocks to add lift to achieve a modern height. Springs in seat and back do not seem to fit the age as to be original. A very finely carved antique. Circa 1890's, solid mahogany, dynamic shaped, French Empire style enclosed sofa. The front and back feet are carved claw on bun feet, the legs with carved stiff feathered wings. The skirt is carved as acanthus rosettes entwined. The arm supports are carved as stiff curving acanthus leaf, the terminal as an eagle head having acanthus neck. The back rest is carved as a swag of laurel and berry cross bound with ribbons. The fine modern fabric is a golden color with scrolling floral pattern. Sofa measures 80" wide by 46" tall by 29-1/2" deep. The seat proper measures 65" by 22" the surface of the seat 18" from the floor. Excellent condition: original dark red-brown unworn finish, no chips or cracks. The fabric is without soiling, fading, or wear.

Measurements 52" wide x 28" deep x 31.5" tall Condition In good condition for its age(please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description) There is a small hole in the seat on the fabric and some fabric wear to the back. There are some small chips in the walnut and some of the edges of the carvings have been chipped. We are pleased to offer this beautiful and ornate. Newer vintage, sofa or entry table. The table dates to the early 1990s. It is made of cherry with a chocolate brown stain. Golden highlights are present as well. The table features cabriole legs with carved, acanthus leaves as well as ball and claw foot details. The apron sections are extremely detailed and ornate. They feature a carved/incised acanthus scroll and shell pattern which is present on all 4 sides. The top is in a stepped design and is very thick. There is a recessed, window pane feature which is designed for a glass top. The table is very nice. There is no manufacturer's marks but there is a patent sticker present. The frame is solid French walnut and was made over a century ago when this furniture was eagerly sought after by the finest homes in America. It is approximately 42 inches high. 26 inches deep, and 55 inches wide, and is in excellent overall condition. It still has the original cut mohair upholstery and will need to be redone. I will give the frame a professional dusting and a coat of paste wax and it will be ready to enjoy for another 100 years. 54015 ANTIQUE 1860 FRENCH STYLE ROCOCO REVIVAL CARVED WALNUT 70" SOFA
A very beautful antique. Circa 1860's, French style Rococo Revival carved walnut sofa. It has a finely carved scrolling crest and carved center front skirt. It has been reupholstered in a cream color fabric, the back rest tufted. Nicely refinished. It measures 3'11" 47" tall by 5'10" 70" wide by 2'6" 30" deep, the seat 22" deep. Very good plus condition: solid construction, front casters, fabric without wear or stains. The bottom of both back legs have been cut down 1-1/2" and replaced back with walnut, probably caused by original caster damage(see photo.

88" Antique VICTORIAN FRENCH SOFA From EUROPE - Carved Wood & Roses
PRICE REDUCED! THIS IS A $4500.00 ANTIQUE SOFA. This LARGE Victorian sofa is ALL ORIGINAL and dates back to the late 1800's(or VERY early 1900's) It is VERY UNUSUAL and a TRUE WORK OF ART. I highly doubt you will find anything like it as our family has collected French and Victorian antiques for as long as I can remember and I haven't seen anything close to it. This very special piece originally came from a French Estate in Europe. It is NOT a reproduction- this is the REAL THING. The workmanship and attention to detail is incredible. I cannot say the sofa is in Mint condition. But it is in EXCELLENT condition considering it is over ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD. The wood is a deep walnut tone and ORNATELY carved with beautiful details on each hump and center crest. There are also carved roses in the leg portions and carving at the bottom ... moreof the seat. The legs are curved in true French Victorian style and are attached to tiny wheels. The wood is in perfect condition with no missing or repaired pieces. The upholstery is AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL to the piece. The pattern and color is a SAGE GREEN(Celery Green) DAMASK. The back portion of the piece is PHENOMENAL- it is completely TUFTED with BUTTON CENTERS giving the piece a most ELEGANT look. The springs in the seat cushion are still tight and hold weight well. This piece was displayed in our sitting room in Florida for years and only used as an accent piece. The only flaw that stands out is some faint damage- ONLY ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE UPHOLSTERY. It appears that rust like colored stains have emerged(on the back of the left hump area toward the ground above the gimp trim) But it doesn't really show when displayed face forward. IT MAY CLEAN UP WITH UPHOLSTERY CLEANER but it probably would be best reupholstered. There is also a slight puncture in the upper portion of the back. But once again, as evidenced by my photos, you don't notice this area if placed against a wall. This is the condition in which we purchased the piece. It may come up with upholstery

Fabulous vintage carved roses framed open arm sofa finished in a brown bronze gilded finish ~ beautiful 2 inch roses adorn the entire frame including all across the back.
