The bed originally costs $999 from Z Gallerie on Union Street in San Francisco and the table costs an additional $249, the cushions and quilt cover cost an additional $295 so this is a great deal! Antique Tiger Maple Daybed Sofa Hired Mans Bed Early 19th Century Rope Bed
An authentic Early American maple wood Hired Mans or daybed made in the first quarter of the 19th century. It is an original period piece. And not made from another piece of furniture. This has finely turned tiger maple posts and rails with highly figured curly grain. The original rope seat support was replaced many years ago with a very comfortable drop-in cushion built on a spring loaded wood frame. The cushion is covered in mohair velvet and shows some wear. This measures 72 inches wide. 26 inches deep and the back is 28 inches high. The top of the cushion measures 19 inches from the floor. It is solid. Sturdy, and quite heavy, with no problem of supporting a lot of weight. I recommend Plycon or Uship for freight shipping from zip 13066. It weighs about 100 pounds. There are some very minor chips to the glass, though they are not really visible once the glass is in place and some scratches/wear to the table here and there including a more notable area right in front of the small caned door as seen in image#7 below. The bookcase compartments have a slight downward angle to them from use over the years but this does not affect them structurally and is common spacing in the joints from the 50+ years of use. The foam is still usable though it is starting to become less soft from age. The original green vinyl is in overall good condition with no rips or holes. Please keep in mind that this set came from the original owners and they had it in their basement/family room for 50+ years. The vinyl does have a musty smell to it. Vintage Barkcloth- burgundy is the main color with tropical flowers. I have a slipcover for a sofa. Daybed or patio type sofa. measuring 60" from welt to welt, there is a back drop of 14" and a 7" front drop, then the ruffle is another 7" Also included are 3 pillow covers with more of the tropical design. Each pillow cover measures 28" long x 17 1/2" The covers are detailed with a very nice welting and there are 3 snaps on the back of each cover. Look closely and you will see the detail that went into the making of this. Near the ruffle on the bottom of the sofa cover is a scalloped edge with more welting then the ruffle. Up for auction is a Mid-Century wrought iron framed sofa/ settee.Let me start by saying I am no furniture expert at all so forgive my terminology. I can not determine the manufacturer as there is no labels etc.that I can find. After looking at several online it looks similar to the works of George Nelson. Eames, Salterine, Woodard, etc. I am not saying it is but anything is possible. I just acquired this as well as some other mid-century furnishings from a deceased Dr's estate and although I've never sold furniture on eBay. I figured it was worth a shot.
