The factory at Höchst was founded in 1746 and was supported by the Elector of Mainz. They at first only produced faience but later(around 1753) mainly porcelain was produced. The mark used was the wheel mark and later the wheel mark with the electoral crown above it. Melchior was the most famous of the designers of figurines. After a fairly short existence. C. 1820-40 Item# 130204KNI21 This is a very fine Rare American Painted Bench or Settee with Six-Chairbacks over Fourteen Legs. A Late Federal work of art in the Sheraton taste, probably c. 1820-40. The design, particularly in the legs, closely conforms to the sentiments of Hitchcock chair designs(c. 1825-50) of the earliest form- the artisan of this bench elevates the form quite drastically with the intense ribbing of the bamboo-style legs and stiles. The canted back features rail-and-ball horizontal spindles over conforming arms flanking a deep and comfortable Rush seat[replaced] The fragility of the form is eliminated with careful attention to pressure points, this work supported with doubled front-to-back stretcher systems in the legs, double-spindle stretchers ... morein the medial of the arms and six spindles per chair back. The settee rests over fourteen legs. Each carefully carved with olive-green highlights in it's precise ring turnings, the legs each terminating in tiny ball toes- the right and leftmost legs flare slightly outward, removing the stoic aesthetic of what could otherwise remain too square to be visually refined. It remains in simply gorgeous condition. The bright burnished gilt surface gleams throughout, highlighting the typical decorations of the Louis XVI taste with a twisted-rope frame molding, a carved flowing-ribbon crest and acanthus handholds. The ovular back and squared seat are covered with a delightful tapestry upholstery, a machine[modern] stitched covering depicting an 18th Century scene of the gentry flirting with ladies of the day, a musician playing in the background with hints of an estate behind the flowing foliage and floral of the foreground. 7 Piece Antique Settee
I am no expert so you verify. But I was told this is California made some time during or a little after the civil war. so 1860 to 1880 is my best guess. Regardless, it is very old and still in good shape. It appears to have been reupholstered at some point in time as the fabric is in good condition as well.The table appears to be different than the furniture, but goes well with the set. The rocker has a couple of loose glue joints.

Antique LOVESEAT 1880s Eastlake NEWLY RESTORED and UPHOLSTERED SOFA SETTEE HISTORY: The 1994 earthquake destroyed all our furniture. Much of which was antiques collected over the years. After retiring to Florida, we looked to replace some items. We found this love seat and a chair which we are also listing stored in a barn and loved the lines. We then located a retired gentleman who had many years experience in restoring antique furniture. He spent a couple of months totally restoring the wood. Then he referred us to a local upholstering company who rebuilt the seat and back and covered it with this beige velvet. Everything under the velvet is totally new as only the frame existed originally. We chose beige as the other furniture in our living room had bright colors and designs. We dressed this loveseat up with fancy pillows to match or coordinate ... morewith the other bright colors in the room. DESCRIPTION: The gentleman who restored this loveseat said that it was from the 1880s and named EASTLAKE. We went online and looked at Eastlake furniture from the 1880s and found pieces very similar to this. MEASUREMENTS ARE: Floor to highest point in middle of back 34 1/2 inches; Widest part from outside arm ends 36 inches; Arm length 21 1/2 inches from back frame to end; and seat is 21 x 33 1/2. Floor to top of padded seat is approximately 14 1/2 inches. This is very low; however. This can easily be made higher with casters. VALUATION: We research similar items for sale and try to price anything we list competitively and usually below lowest comparable. We located same category items from just under three hundred dollars which needed to be upholstered up to several thousand dollars. As we are serious about selling this beautiful loveseat to move to a smaller place. We decide to offer it for sale for $695.00 which is about what we paid to have it restored and upholstered. Wood frame seems to be maple and the construction is all firm. Lots of carved floral detail in the wood and deeply etched details on the arms. This is a antique Chinese black lacquer profusely carved large dragon head settee(Love Seat) I was told by the Lady that I purchased this settee from that it was from the 1930's. For its age this antique is in remarkable condition. As can be seen in the 6th picture there is a small crack under the arm rest( You can't see it unless you look for it) As can be seen in the 7th picture above the leg in the back of the settee there is a small crack(Again you can't see it unless you look for it) In the 8th picture you can see that the center foot there is a scuff. Interior designer or anyone looking for an airy and classical form for their formal living room, this is a simply outstanding find. With quite fine form, the daybed lacks the bulky and overbearing appeal that too often is associated with works of the Late Classical and Empire periods. The thin scrolling profile is distinctly Neo-Grec in form, the arms in opposing S-scrolls flanking a large scrolling back rail. The loose upholstered cushion remains in good condition with just light staining and snags, as such giving it a certain vintage appeal that is attractive to some and unacceptable to others. The arms are a bit loose when lifted upward- they are very sturdy and strong and do not require restoration when it isn't being moved, but to lift upward from either side shows wiggle. We would recommend quickly re-gluing the joints eventually, but not worrisome as is; viewed from the side, you can see a slight crookedness to the arms, but this is not noticeable when looking at the sofa more generally. Antique German Hanau Solid Silver Dolls House Miniature Settee or Sofa by Storck& Sinsheimer c 1890 This Antique Dolls House Miniature Sofa or Settee measures approximately 2 7/8 inches or 73 mm across its length from end to end by 1 1/8 inches or 29 mm across its width from the sofa back to the front of its seat and it stands 1 3/4 inches or 45 mm tall to the top of its back. The sofa or settee is made from solid silver in a delightful 17th century European serpentine rectangular shape that stands on four shaped legs that are under embossed or raised relief decorated side rails. The seat has also been embossed or raised relief decorated and the back and arm rests have been wonderfully pierced, raised relief and engrave decorated with scrolls, floral laurels and flowers that are under a central crown that is at the top of the back, the ... moresofa or settee has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and although we have found no silver marks as such the table has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from solid silver however the lower rear rail has been impressed with the German Hanau silversmith or makers marks of Storck& Sinsheimer whose marks are recorded as being used from 1874 to 1926 again as photographed below. I estimate that this dolls house miniature sofa or settee was made circa 1880- 1900. The condition is used and Excellent for its age. The sofa or settee has No Dents. No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the sofa stands upright, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the impressed makers marks are still legible although as the sofa is a used antique it does have the obvious signs that it was hand made along with a tiny split in the front right arm rest and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a good clean would enhance it greatly. French Provincial Louis XV Antique Settee Loveseat Sofa, c. Late 18th Century
French Provincial Antique Settee[Loveseat. Sofa] 18th Century Item# 120001GJB01 This listing is for a French Provincial Carved Fruitwood Antique Settee. Probably crafted during the late 18th(possibly early 19th) Century. It is a rather interesting piece, boasting a steeply serpentine frame, curving around the upholstered back with offshoots of acanthus carvings throughout, culminating at the top center in a carved foliate motif. Long rounded arms slope from the back, curling into deep hand rests over cabriole arm supports. A flat upholstered seat rests over a wavy apron with foliate carvings that mirror the crest, flanked by cabriole legs terminating in french toes wrapped in acanthus leaves. The joints are locked in place with exposed peg construction. The back of the sofa is exposed, held in place with iron braces that secure the back firmly ... morein place. This is a cute settee with good strength throughout. Despite it's age and delicate nature, making it an antique you can live with and enjoy comfortably. With a warm patina throughout in deeply polished surfaces and a highly oxidized finish, this antique french settee would work well in the formal living room just as easily as a large bedroom between a pair of windows or at the end of the bed. Measurements: 49" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 40" high; seat is 17 1/2" high from the ground Condition Report: Inactive pest damage throughout. Chips. Dings and repairs throughout. Right arm slightly loose, though not structurally a problem. Minor upholstery stains throughout. Small snags in one area of upholstery. This burl empire piece is often seen in mahogany but not this fabulous burl walnut. Starting with the oxbow crest that flows down to thick scroll arms over a burl center splat, the walnut frame firmly holds the caned panels all the way around. The sides mold into the carved apron on cabriolet legs with ball and claw feet. Just incredible. This piece has been totally restored ... morewith new cane and hand rubbed finish. It has some small pieces of burl missing in some places but it is all under the new finish. It looks just fabulous and is ready for a few more centuries. Antique Black Settee Bench on Casters Re-Covered in EXCELLENT Condition
Gorgeous Older Vintage-Antique Settee/Loveseat Bench This is a beautifully Re-covered Wooden(Back. Legs, Arms, Etc are all solid wood) Bench Quite old. Although am not sure of the exact age The piece is on small solid metal casters Bottom of piece is covered in black guazy fabric(like lawn) which was commonly used in older eras such as the early 1900's Cushion also seems to e spring style(although if I hadn't had many pieces that were I wouldn't know it from the feel of the top) The top of the cushion is smooth. Not bumpy at all, If it has springs that are strung, none of the strings could be broken. The piece is in excellent condition. Doesn't wobble, It is slightly(very slightly) delicate- ONLY because it of course has slender legs, spindles etc- otherwise it is amazingly sturdy- If you have owned pieces with casters before, ... moreyou know the casters can somewhat add to the seeming'shaky' effect of old pieces, even if they are not shaky. I had the casters off when working on this pieces and was amazed at how sturdy the joints, spindles, etc were on it. That being said. I wouldn't want children jumping or lying on it: I actually don't like kids doing that on anything old I own however though: This would be a beautiful photo prop. Or for an entry way piece in a home, esp an older home It is 42 in long. 23 in deep Total height is 29in tall All over it is in excellent condition The fabric is a black& silver(silver has some metallic threads in it) and has an illusion lace pattern Ask any questions!
