It has been refinished and reupholstered in a butter yellow damask featuring fruit, and the lines of the original horsehair upholstery have been preserved in the cording that follows the curve of the seat and in the diamond-tufting of the back. The decoration across the top wood looks like nuts or fruit and flowers of some kind that is carved. The velvet material is a very pale reddish cranberry. The pictures are very true to the color. The back is tufted. The wood frame is pretty sturdy. It measures about 59 inches long from the widest part of the wood frame on top. It stands about 34 inches tall to the top of the fruit. Hi for sale I have a freshly reupholstered antique settee. My upholster upon recovering the piece discovered that the settee is from the late Victorian era. Very rare to see a painted piece of this age. He also thought that the settee might be European. Possibly Italian or French. At one time the settee was on castors or wheels. The piece sits a little low, so if you want more height you could add some castors. There are fittings for the castors on the bottom of the legs. At this height the settee is perfect for a bedroom or master bath. As stated in the title, I have had this piece totally cleaned, fixed, tightend, new cushions, new padding and I have had it recovered by a professional. with that said, the fabric, labor and materials added up to a great sum. A 19th-century French Renaissance Revival carved oak settee. A beautiful antique that I've had in my family for nearly 40 years-but for which we don't have the proper room in our current home. The single warrior-medallion backs are each crested by two mutually facing perched birds. The armrests commence with open-mouthed gargoyle heads. Terminating in concentric ribbon-rolls. Antique Victorian Settee Tufted Peach All Original Great Condition
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SETTEE PARLOUR SOFA ALL ORIGINAL GREAT CONDITION The following description is the best I can convey considering I am not an antiques expert. This piece was passed down to me by relatives so the historical origin is unknown. I cannot find any markings indicating maker or date but assume it is circa 1875-1895 considering comparable pieces I have found. It appears to be all original with tufted peach fabric. It is free of rips but could use a cleaning. There is a small stain on the upper right portion of the fabric from the front and on the upper left portion of fabric when viewed from the back. There is normal wear and some very faint staining to the seat and I have not tried to clean this piece. The hand carved wood is either walnut or mahogany with beautiful details of flowers and leaves and is in super condition. The original ... morebrass casters are on the front and it appears the back legs never had casters. The frame is sturdy and intact and the bottom shows original strapping. Springs and horsehair. The measurements are: 61 inches at widest point across. 38 inches high. 19 inches deepest cushion depth. The sofa is available for close inspection prior to purchase. SHABBY ANTIQUE VTG FRENCH PROVINCIAL STYLE SETTEE COUCH LOVESEAT
CUTE SETTEE This settee is super cute with a French provincial feel to it. Would be fabulous re-upholstered and the frame painted gold or cream. There are cracks to the wood from age typical for its age. But its still super sturdy. Its got a great down filled pillow. There is some staining to side which I try to show, however could easily be covered up with some pillows on this. The fabric is a creamy color and it could definitely use some updating but its still quite nice as is for its age, neutral enough to go with just about any décor. Selling as is and local pick up in Hawthorne, NJ.
