Mission oak stickley settee old vintage antique
Mission oak bench been in our family as long as I can remember and that's 60 years. there is a broken slat that I taped 30 years ago and really almost forgot about it until I started taking photos.There is also a mark on the arm thought it was best not to try and remove or clean it. FRENCH LOUIS XV STYLE SETTEE W/ ORIGINAL AUBUSSON UPHOLSTERY 19th Century Item# 1407OYD27Z An absolute treasure. This fine French Louis XV Style Settee still retains it's original hand stitched Aubusson upholstery. The scene is a work of art, the back capturing a pair of Peacocks and a pair of Ducks in a meadow framed in a border of swirling foliage and acanthus while the seat depicts a wolf dressed in a Shepherd's clothing as he creeps up on lambs at rest in the pasture. While the textile has darkened with time and dirt and numerous areas have lost their weave, the overall fabric remains stable and in outstanding condition for it's age. The settee is a fine piece of craftsmanship, the molded frame crested by a demilune display of flowers with gilt highlights, the surfaces throughout with traces of polychromed red and gold wash ... moreover patinated mahogany. The legs are joined with pinned tenon mortise construction, resulting in a very sturdy and stable seating piece despite well over a century of enjoyment. The legs are carved carefully with the typical display of flowers among acanthus leafage and terminating in scrolling toes. A small plaque nailed to the underside of the frame reads"Ameublement Decoration Bellaco et Ses Gendres" presumably an early retailer of the piece. For anyone passionate about the Louis XV form. This is an exceptional investment grade object you will cherish in your collection for a lifetime. Measurements: 25 1/8" D x 63 1/2" W x 38 1/4" H; 17" H to seat Condition Report: Original aubusson. Worn and discolored with extensive threadbare areas- however, the covering is stable and incredibly attractive. We would not under any circumstances recommend replacing this covering as it is positively gorgeous. Fabric on back torn in several areas, revealing the original horsehair stuffing. Three Piece Antique Settee with Beautiful Wood Inlays Love Seat and Two Chairs In 1964 as children. We went to an estate sale at this massive, sprawling mansion in eastern Long Island, New York. Our parents purchased a very large Oak formal dining room which barely fit in our dining room in Roslyn, NY. They also purchased this lovely Settee which we had in our living room near our Baby Grand. When our parents moved to Florida. The furniture moved with them. We offer this Settee for sale in this No Reserve auction. We have had estimates into the thousands of dollars but honestly don't know much about it except for the story above. We say RARE because through the thousands of Settees that we've researched on Google Images and Ebay, we have seen none that are close to the same. It seems that it is a cross of early 1900's Federal ... moreand Edwardian? There is very intricate inlay work in the wood that we couldn't find anywhere online. Our Mom had the three pieces re-upholstered in 1979. The wood was untouched. The original upholstery was prettier in our opinion and while the new upholstery is in very good condition(they were hardly sat in) we believe it is the frames, the condition, the quality, and the intricacy of the wood inlays that we are selling here. The fronts of the legs have these cute small metal swivel wheels. We wished that we could keep it but none of us have a place in our homes. So. It is not a true period antique but rather a mixture of styles: Louis XVI(with the classic fluted leg and delicate proportions) and the grandeur of the Rococo style(floral motif at the three crowns) The settee was newly recovered when it was brought over from France about 2 years ago with canvas covering the front and a burlap backing- both in great condition. Pair of American Blue Painted Antique Bootjack Benches Settee, 19th Century
PAIR OF AMERICAN BLUE PAINTED BENCHES WITH BOOTJACK ENDS Probably late 19th or early 20th Century Item# 1407JCU25P This is a delightful example of rural production. The pair probably crafted to suit the family of the craftsman, possibly of repurposed wood during the late 19th or early 20th Century. Crafted of yellow pine, they feature a thin slat crest rail rested in a key in the stile and affixed with a single screw(some added nails) from the back, the single plank seat nailed on either side and supported on a pair of triangular blocks underneath and a horizontal apron set in a key. The stiles are single planks from the crest through the bootjack ends. The paint is early, probably at least partially original with much of the surface heavily distressed and flaking in a most attractive way. A positively charming pair of benches for anyone ... morepassionate about rustic interiors and Americana- these were acquired from the same estate as our scrubbed top American Harvest Table and would accompany it quite nicely. Measurements: 59 1/8" W x 15 3/4" D x 34 3/4" H; seat is 18 7/8" H Condition Report: Painted surface is early and worn. But we cannot be certain of it's originality or even vintage. There are at least two different applications at different dates. Surface is worn with old dirt deep in the open grains of the pine. Benches are sturdy for reasonable regular use. They are probably rural craftsmanship using repurposed parts circa the late 19th or early 20th century, as evidenced by the unnecessary bore holes in a few areas(underside of crest on one, etc. Original screws with some nail supplements on crest rail, seats and apron with later nails throughout. Dimes is crafted entirely by hand. The firm is renowned for their attention to detail and use of period techniques in their furniture. This work being no exception. The windsor settee features a twin bow back with tapered spindles that pierce a thick arm rail wrapping around the entire frame into outward furling arm rests with curled knuckle grips over a turned pilaster. The seat is a work of art, crafted from a large solid plank, scooped in the center to provide relief and comfort and channeled along the back edge. The legs tenon through the seat, locked in place with split wedge tenons, the turnings bold and impressive over tapered feet. Beautiful. Antique, 18th century, William& Mary style, settee/ bench in outstanding, sturdy, ready to use, as found condition. Finish appears to be all original, upholstery old, possibly original, but I do not knowis free of any rips, tears or holes, some sun fading in areas and light background has darkened and yellowed in areas with age but sill looks great and givea this piece a wonderful warm aged appearance. Cushions appear to be atuffed qith horse hair or some other fiberoua material. Frame is solid wood and structurally sound and free of any breaks or repairs, there is a spot on the arm that appears someone named james scratched their name into it years ago, I think this just adds to the benches history and beauty, but could easily be sanded out and refinished. Antique Caned Back Settee Bench with White Milk Paint
Fabulous cottage style cane bench- loveseat- settee. Circa 1930's, I believe. The settee has been hand painted with a white milk paint. And has a distressed and chippy finish, perfect for any cottage or shabby chic enthusiast. Finished with a coat of Briwax for added luster or protection. The frame features a caned frame back and sides. And is topped with a tufted pale yellow/ gold velvet upholstered seat. The seat has a small, discolored spot on the front but it doesn't detract from the beauty of the piece. The legs are tapered and very sturdy, and the cane is in excellent condition with no rips or breaks. The settee is very comfortable and is in excellent vintage condition. Dimensions: 43.5" length 17.5" depth 25.6 high.
