Antique Globe-Wernicke Elastic Sectional Barrister Bookcase The Globe-Wernicke Company was well known for their line of sectional bookcases. They were called“elastic” because one could just buy whatever was needed at a given time and add sections at any time. One could mix and match different styles and sizes to get exactly the look and functionality needed. The sections were available in different heights to accommodate different sized books. The top. Base and bookcase sections lie one on top of another with no attachment hardware required. This feature also makes it extremely easy to move. What a great idea! This bookcase was bought by my father probably about 80 years ago. But I’m not sure how old it really is; the Universal style came on the market around 1921. It’s been in continual use since then and is in pretty good condition for ... moreits age. There are some nicks and scratches in the finish, primarily on the legs(banging into it with a vacuum cleaner while cleaning underneath) and on the top(knickknacks and other things) There is no water damage and all the section work well. This particular unit is composed of the following items: 1 Ambassador Base Pattern 1867 Grade 3025 ½ 4 Universal Cases Pattern 811 Grade 3025 ½ 1 Ambassador Top Pattern 1861 Grade 3025 ½ The case pattern 811 refers to the inside height of 11” I believe 9” pattern 809) and 13” pattern 813) heights were also available for larger and smaller books. The grade refers to the type of finish. Ambassador and Universal were two of several different styles available. The Ambassador top and base were more elaborate than the Universal ones. Again. One could mix and match to suit one’s décor and budget! The Universal finish types were imitation walnut. Mahogany and oak, with“imitation” meaning veneer. It's made from all solid wood, thankfully; particleboard wasn’t yet invented. I don’t know how to recognize wood types, but I think this one is the mahogany veneer. This huge poster print shows the"Sectional View Of The Nave" and the"Sectional View Of The Eastern Transept" from the London England International Exhibition/ World's Fair of 1862. It has the cast brass Library Bureau label on the center of the top section and the back shows provenance as being used in an old Massachusetts State Office Building. Measures overall slightly over 17" x 19" and 38 1/2" tall. 3 sections- the top has a row of 3 regular(3" x 5" size index files and the attached top cover. The center is a full size(fits 8" x 10" file drawer and the bottom is the great base section of 4 legs with the original roller casters. The very top has a light stain probably from a potted plant but just the finish, no damage to the actual wood. Antique 1920's Oak Apothecary Cabinet Schwartz Sectional Storage System
Up for your consideration is an early 1920's Oak Apothecary Cabinet made by Schwartz Sectional System of Indianapolis Indiana. This is a stunning piece of craftsmanship and utilitarian design. Each one of these 20 drawers is held in by a sliding vertical hinge that allows each cabinet to be swung fully open to the left. Inside each individual drawer. The shelving is entirely customizable. On the sides and middle of each drawer, a remarkable amount of housing has been cut for an endless amount of shelving possibilities. The bronze pulls, label holders, and drawer numbers are all original. The cabinet stands 68" tall(including the base) 24" wide, and 18" deep. The base measures 8" tall and it is unknown if this is original to the piece. There are 20 drawers which measure 4 3/8" wide, 13 1/2" tall, and 16" ... moredeep. 19 of these drawers state their original contents written on them. All of the drawers have their original glassine covers on them, although they are dry and brittle. Trying to resecure them results in them falling apart. The drawers are in very good condition and are unfinished on the inside. When opening the drawers there is an odor of medicine? on the inside. The sides of this cabinet are made of veneer. The left side is very rough on top as seen in the photos, with some tape residue on top. The right side veneer is better, but not perfect. The back of the cabinet reads, Columbia Art Store Furniture Co. 367 North 5th Street, Newark NJ. From Schwartz Sectional System, Indianapolis Indiana. The name plate on the front reads Schwartz Sectional System Patent Jan 11, 1910& May 17, 1921. This is a fabulous piece of furniture and would look outstanding with just a little bit of tlc. I am told the base(pictured) is probably not the original, it is the one I received with the unit. There was a repair made to the top at some point which is highlighted in 2 pictures. Unit originally had lights which were removed. You can see a small slit made at the top, back of each unit to pass a cord thru. Does not affect the unit from the front. This Victorian oak bookcase is made of four sections. Each stacks on top of one another and locks in for a strong fit. This bookcase was made from solid American oak and measures 59 inches high, 34 and one half inches wide, 9 and one have inches deep at three sections and 14 and one half inches deep at the bottom section. For Sale. Three stack sectional glass door barrister bookcase made by Lundstrum probably in the 1920s, 30s or 40s. They work perfectly. The glass sliding doors are unblemished. The top has faded marks from glasses. And the veneer was repaired in one corner but it still glows and the rest of the surfaces are in good to very good condition. Vintage/ Antique Sectional Cane Bamboo Fly Rod. Auction is for a neat looking vintage sectional cane bamboo fly rod. Includes 12 pieces. Along with portable wooden case that also holds flys. Case has covers on both sides to separate your gear cleanly. I'm not sure of specifics with this rod, but was able to assemble using 7 of the pieces to make around a 7-1/2' fly rod, slight bend at the tip. There are 5 pieces that were left over, one is a duplicate tip the others could be duplicates as well. One of the leftover pieces has a small portion broken off in one end. Also not sure if handle was ever included or if you were meant to tie reel down, no piece with a reel seat. Wood itself is in excellent condition, no splits or cracks and very clean overall. The bottom shelf is missing it's glass other than that all is there. I kept my dvds on the bottom shelf and it made much easier to take them out if glass wasn't there. Later when moving the glass was broke. All other pieces are in tack and original to my knowledge. I say that because it's the old style wavy glass. So most likely original. Also most of the red GRM triangular logo located on the back is there. See pics for details. This logo represented the Furniture Manufacturer’s Association of Grand Rapids and was only used from 1899 to 1913 Gunn stacking bookcases were distinguished by the lack of external side bands.
