She paid $20,000 for the set and we are selling the other matching sofa and the two chairs in another listing)The frames are heavily carved wood, with gilded floral motifs and other period-style elements, including some areas that look very Art Nouveau. Well-maintained antique condition, the frames are solid- there are some joints that show small lines of seperation, but nothing that affects the stability or useability of the piece. The cream paint and gilded areas are very good, there is some flaking to the gilding, and the front of the arms that would have received the most wear have seen some over-painting. Please note these are larger pieces than your normal sofa or setee from that era. Antique American Empire Carved Mahogany Sofa Settee Circa 1830-1850
A beautiful American Empire sofa/settee. Amazing carved mahogany details with olive green mohair upholstery. Measures approximately 64 inches long x 24 inches deep x 34 1/2 inches tall at the back. The round fluted crest rail has downturned curved ends on either side with acanthus leaf carvings above a smooth curved back. The front of the arms have carved cherries. Pears, oak leaves, acanthus leaves, and nuts framed by a cartouche of C scrolls. Feather design carving on legs with paw feet. Possibly made in New York. There is overall fading on the upholstery along with a worn spot on the back, a tear on the side, and the trim is loose in one section(see photos) Appraised at 2,300. This settee has been well cared for and will provide many years of enjoyment for the new owner.

This sofa is a real antique; has been in the family for over 50 years. And had a life before that. This sofa must be picked up; it cannot and will not be delivered. Antique salvaged carved solid hardwood curved sofa legs restore repurpose
These legs came off an antique camel back brocade sofa from the 1930's(or earlier) that I purchased at estate auction yrs ago. It was a very well constructed piece of furniture with hand tied springs. A heavy hard wood frame, and horse hair for the first layer of padding. When I retired it for good. I salvaged these front legs. The back"legs" were actually part of the frame itself, or else I would have saved them as well. They have the original finish on them except for where I used a little denatured alcohol to help identify the wood. I am not positive. But my best guess is that they are mahogany or maybe cherry. They are NOT identical! That was never noticeable when they were on my couch- only when I put them side by side to measure. Upon doing my research. I found out that this style of carving is very complex and can only ... morebe done with one solid piece of wood so it's actually not unusual for them not to be exact duplicates. Original four factory wood screws included- they are flat(square) head- another clue that they are old. Cross head screws weren't used until the later 1930's and after. Measurements: Right leg: 3.5" all 4 sides at the top where it fastens. 6" high. 2.25" across; 2" front to back at the bottom where it rests on the floor(foot pad) Left leg: 3 sides at 3.5" and the back side is 3" across at the top. 6" high. 2 1/16" across; 2" front to back at the bottom(foot pad) You can't go to Lowes and buy these!

This is a beautiful antique sofa with eagle head. And paws on legs wheels on bottom. I honestly know nothing about this peice except that my aunt had owned it for a very long time. I may be wrong about the age, and I do not know the origin. The defects that I see are some small missing peices of veneer on front left side also on top back right side in back of sofa. Information provided is personal opinion and not a professional evaluation: Hand carved. French Provincial style sofa canape- 1800-1900 age unknown; mix of Victorian, French, Greek Revival stylings. I do not know if it is American or foreign made. In removing the current fabric, which screams of a 1970s reupholstery job, I found the seat was raised on plywood blocks to add lift to achieve a modern height. Springs in seat and back do not seem to fit the age as to be original. You would want to remove all of this to the frame and start from scratch to achieve the original look and feel of this piece which was likely a down cushion. Stamp on underside of leg. This bench is miniature in that it stands only 13.5" tall by 11.5" wide by 5" depth. The seat and back cushion are a red velvet. The patina is all original has not be refinished, incredible condition. Age is late 1800's to early 1900's and a true rare antique find.
