Size 7(resizing available) Not cheap silver electroplate! This is a high-quality. Solid sterling silver designer ring manufactured by one of America’s leading semi-custom mount manufacturers. NOTE: Resizing is available(may incur nominal extra cost depending on size required) DESCRIPTION: Early in Rome’s history silver(and gold) came from Spain via the Phoenicians and their colony of Carthage. Partly motivated by a desire to control that trade. Rome engaged Carthage in three wars(the“Punic Wars” In fact father of the great Carthaginian General Hannibal was not only himself one of Carthage’s most famous generals, he was also a precious metals merchant. The Romans virtually deforested the entire country of Spain making charcoal to smelt silver and gold. When the silver in Spain began to play out, in 55BC Rome’s Julius Caesar invaded Britain, in part to acquire the rich silver deposits there. The Romans were the first to mass-produce coinage on a monumental scale, the first truly monetized society. Between 100 and 400AD the Romans produced billions of silver and bronze coins. At the height of the Empire. There were over 400 mints producing coinage throughout the empire. Silver was also fashioned into Greek-style jewelry. The chief centers of production were Alexandria, Antioch, and Rome, to which Greek craftsmen had migrated. Celebrating that heritage, here’s a gorgeous, high quality sterling silver semi-custom sterling silver ring. The ring is robustly constructed, much more substantial and heavier than the typical ring band. Please do not confuse this with cheap silver electroplate. Warring States Period. The style of pot, the intricate impressing, and the grey clay color suggest it might be of Chou origin. The term“impressed” means that a design was impressed into the still wet vessel before it was fired. In more ancient times, more often than not this involved rolling the vase over a fibre mat, or pressing a piece of mat into the vessel, impressing a design into the still-wet clay. Later more sophisticated techniques such as this vessel saw wood blocks used to impress the design into the vessel. If you look closely at this vessel, you can see that indeed a wood block was used to impress the same design over and over again into the wet clay. You can see in many instance where the alignment of one block was not quite square with the next, some overlapping, others with a clear boundary between the impression blocks. It is a fairly large-sized piece. The size of a very large honeydew melon. You can also see that two(non-functional) handles” were added to the vessel, likewise made from grey clay, and attached to the bowl while both were still wet. What

But more numerous are the hafted seals, formed of a hard stone engraved in intaglio: carnelian, garnet, sapphire, rock crystal, agate; some are even antique intaglios. CLASSIFICATION: Aquamarine Oval Cabochon. ORIGIN: The Ural Mountains. Russia. 18th Century. SIZE: Length: 12mm. Width: 10mm. Depth: 5 1/2mm. All measurements approximate. WEIGHT: 5.29 carats. NOTES: Upon request we can set your gemstone as pendant or ring. DETAIL: Romans believed that Aquamarine was sacred to Neptune. The god of the sea, having fallen from the jewel boxes of sirens and washed onto shore. The Romans made extensive use of aquamarine in their jewelry. Aquamarine jewelry was a traditional gift presented by bridegroom to bride. Roman mariners wore aquamarine talismans, engraved with the likeness of Neptune, as protection against dangers at sea. Romans also believed that if the figure of a frog was carved on an aquamarine it would help to reconcile enemies and make them friends. Here’s a gorgeous, pastel blue-green aquamarine semi-precious gemstone from Siberia, the Ural Mountains of Russia. Gorgeous, vibrant, and delicately hued, this striking gemstone possesses breathtaking luster and delicate hue. This colossal gemstone was hand shaped and polished into this very beautiful oval cut cabochon by an 18th century Russian artisan. This lustrous semi-precious gemstone possesses a rich and velvety character. It is a nice quality aquamarine by 18th century standards. The gemstone is transparent. Though by no means flawless. By today’s standards it is not an exceptionally high quality aquamarine; though it is still reasonably good quality, and of course of generous size and remarkable color. However judged by 18th century standards, this was a very desirable and expensive gemstone. Closely related to emerald(also mined in Siberia) aquamarine is one of the less common, and more costly semi-precious gemstones. Good quality aquamarine is in short supply and can be very costly. How

The color purple was traditionally the color of royalty, and was also associated with the planet and the Roman God Jupiter the“Lord of Gods” of the Roman pantheon, also known as Zeus to the ancient Greeks) Consequentially Amethyst has been used since the dawn of recorded history to adorn the wealthy, as well as royalty. Ancient civilizations prized the stone more than many other gems which today enjoy more recognition and value, including sapphire, ruby, diamonds and emerald. For some time in the ancient world, amethyst was valued equally with the diamond, and only royal families were lawfully entitled to own and wear the stone. Amethyst was used extensively in the ancient Mediterranean world for carving intaglio gemstones and seals, particularly by the ancient Greeks and Romans. And in both ancient Greece and Rome rings of amethyst set in bronze were worn as charms against evil. The first century historian and naturalist Pliny wrote that if amethyst were worn round the neck on a cord made from dog's hair, it would afford the wearer protection against snakebite.
