Size 7(resizing available) Not cheap silver electroplate! This is a high-quality. Solid sterling silver designer ring manufactured by one of America’s leading semi-custom mount manufacturers. NOTE: Resizing is available(may incur nominal extra cost depending on size required) DESCRIPTION: Early in Rome’s history silver(and gold) came from Spain via the Phoenicians and their colony of Carthage. Partly motivated by a desire to control that trade. Rome engaged Carthage in three wars(the“Punic Wars” In fact father of the great Carthaginian General Hannibal was not only himself one of Carthage’s most famous generals, he was also a precious metals merchant. The Romans virtually deforested the entire country of Spain making charcoal to smelt silver and gold. When the silver in Spain began to play out, in 55BC Rome’s Julius Caesar invaded Britain, in part to acquire the rich silver deposits there. The Romans were the first to mass-produce coinage on a monumental scale, the first truly monetized society. Between 100 and 400AD the Romans produced billions of silver and bronze coins. At the height of the Empire. There were over 400 mints producing coinage throughout the empire. Silver was also fashioned into Greek-style jewelry. The chief centers of production were Alexandria, Antioch, and Rome, to which Greek craftsmen had migrated. Celebrating that heritage, here’s a gorgeous, high quality sterling silver semi-custom sterling silver ring. The ring is robustly constructed, much more substantial and heavier than the typical ring band. Please do not confuse this with cheap silver electroplate. Achilles statue bust Trojan war Leader Hero of The Myrmidons.
Achilles In Greek mythology. Achilles( Ancient Greek: Ἀχιλλεύς. Akhilleus. Pronounced[akʰillěws] was a Greek hero of the Trojan War and the central character and greatest warrior of Homer's Iliad. Achilles was said to be a demigod; his mother was the nymph Thetis. And his father, Peleus. Was the king of the Myrmidons. Achilles’ most notable feat during the Trojan War was the slaying of the Trojan hero Hector outside the gates of Troy. Although the death of Achilles is not presented in the Iliad. Other sources concur that he was killed near the end of the Trojan War by Paris. Who shot him in the heel with an arrow. Later legends(beginning with a poem by Statius in the 1st century AD) state that Achilles was invulnerable in all of his body except for his heel. Because of his death from a small wound in the heel. The term Achilles' heel ... morehas come to mean a person's point of weakness. Achilles was the son of the nymph Thetis and Peleus. The king of the Myrmidons. Zeus and Poseidon had been rivals for the hand of Thetis until Prometheus. The fore-thinker. Warned Zeus of a prophecy that Thetis would bear a son greater than his father. For this reason. The two gods withdrew their pursuit, and had her wed Peleus. There is a tale which offers an alternative version of these events: in Argonautica(iv.760) Zeus' sister and wife Hera alludes to Thetis' chaste resistance to the advances of Zeus. That Thetis was so loyal to Hera's marriage bond that she coolly rejected him. Thetis, although a daughter of the sea-god Nereus. Was also brought up by Hera, further explaining her resistance to the advances of Zeus. According to the Achilleid. Written by Statius in the 1st century AD. And to no surviving previous sources, when Achilles was born Thetis tried to make him immortal, by dipping him in the river Styx. However. He was left vulnerable at the part of the body by which she held him, his heel(see Achilles heel. Achilles' tendon) It is not clear if this version of events was known earlier. In anothe
