In 2009 portions of my collection were exhibited at the University of Maryland's Mosely Gallery- the exhibition was called"Honoring the Ancestors. Only 170 of my 300+ items could fit in the gallery. This mask was exhibited in that exhibition. I have included photos of that installation as well as other items I am selling or will be selling soon. Janiform(meaning 2-faced) example would have been worn at Poro ceremonies including funerals and would also have fought sorcery( dee bele) and harmful spirits( nikw’abele) At the top of this helmet is a small cup held by two chameleons. The mask was not complete until magical substances( wah) were placed into this receptacle. Additional Information: A superb piece. With matched four-horned faces on either side, one shared pair of ears, and paired figures on top pulling on the bowl which would have held magical elements. Red and white pigments have been applied over the black, but use has worn them away somewhat. Inner patina suggests wear. This large helmet mask known as"Kopnyungo. meaning literally a funeral head mask is worn by senior members of Poro at funerals of deceased and honored members. Large composite masks danced by the Senufo symbolically incorporate a number of different animal motifs to create an image that is aggressive and powerful. The crocodile mouth at the front of this mask incorporates warthog tusks coming out of the upper jaw represent the uncontrolled forces of the bush. This mask is most probably used by Senufo farmers and when worn the dancer would look out through the opening of the mouth. This is an excellent example of Senufo masks. the unit looks and works great. I refurbish. And sell cooktops and rangetops on line for the last 3 years. I make sure all parts are in good working order. Clean all parts. And refinish the stainless. most units come out looking 9 to 9.5 out of 10. Functions. Cooktops and rangetoops, I find that only the double gas line for higher btus too 1900 is a worth while function. If you need high flames, metal knobs, or knobs on right side for cooktops, but such as simmer control board. For simmer control is one more thing to break down. only thing which noticeably wears down on units is the spark module. One with flame sensor seems to last 10 to 15 years and regular spark modules last 20 to 40 years. I have shipped. Units via fed ex. The letters stitched fine as did the settings on the first card. It was just serviced/cleaned last year by our local shop. They did not find anything wrong with it. The power cord/foot ... morepedal works. Though my grandfather did use electrical tape on it after my grandmother put a nick in it with the rolling chair. The only real problem with the machine is that the back service plate does not clip in anymore. My grandmother didn't even notice because she had masking tape on it and on the stitch plate to mark her seam allowance. Though I am sure it can be fixed if needed. There is a pen mark on the bottom silver part. The case does show some wear/marks.but is completely intact. All items pertaining to the sewing machine are included in the photos. Vintage Viking Husqvarna SLE 6570 Burgundy Red Sewing Machine. Made in Sweden. This is a heavy duty. Solid, packed with features and functions machine. It is the last of the Viking Husqvarna mechanical sewing machines made circa 1979. Included with the machine is the foot pedal. Carrying case, 8 cams and case, edge guide& original manual. The manual is in very good condition. This machine is coveted by many because it is top of the line and lasts for years and years. That being said. I am no expert in sewing or sewing machines. I acquired this machine from a friend whom has told me it works. I tested it myself and everything runs smooth and sounds great. I did not have the proper size bobbin however, and could not make a stitch. The presser foot does not go down when you move the lever. Viking Frosted Blue Fade 6 Petal Compote with Sticker
This 7-1/2" tall by 7" diameter compote stands on a 3" diameter base. Three petals are taller than the other three which gives it a graduated look. The color is a very deep blue which fades to an almost grayish blue near the top. There are no chips or cracks or any other flaws that I could find.
