This deep buttoned leather chesterfield sofa is a real character piece& extremely comfortable too. Some of these models with the buttoned seats can be very hard to sit on. But this one is just right. The leather is in very good original condition& is naturally distressed, with a wonderful original colour. I can't see any splits, only natural old markings. It's hand studded& sits on bun feet. Please do not confuse this chesterfield with all the mass produced ones out there. This one was hand made& hand coloured. Serpentine shape Made in England Circa 1940 Excellent condition Burled walnut Hand cut dovetails, There are so many useful ways that a chest of drawers this size can be placed in a home. It is the perfect bedside chest or nightstand. The 32″ height is great for next to a sofa or chair to hold a lamp. It can stand alone for storage and to just add beauty to a room. The serpentine front is a complicated shape to create as it involves bending the wood several times to achieve the proper look. This particular antique chest of drawers was made in England around 1940 and whoever made it did a wonderful job on the serpentine front. This dresser also has many other fine features that make it one of the nicer dressers we have ever seen. The corners are canted and fluted and the brass hardware is a really nice Chippendale style bain pull. The wood used on this antique chest of drawers is a lovely burl walnut. The frame appears to be a straight grain walnut. This burl has a tremendous amount of variation in it. Making it particularly pleasing to the eye. This antique dresser is in excellent condition. The finish is superb and there are no repairs. The drawers all open and close easily. They are also put together with hand cut dovetailed joints. A sign of quality craftsmanship.
