Please click on the large photo to open the window showing all the large photos. There are 12 photos above and more below this text. This is an estate find. This is a partially used box of note cards from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The title on the box is Chinese Treasures. There are 9 note cards in all. But only 8 of them have envelopes. I would guess there were originally 10 or 12 in the box but I can't say for sure- it doesn't say how many were in the box originally. These cards range in size and shape. The largest measures 7.5" x 9" So some of them are really oversized with lots of room to write a long note! They are all in new unused condition. Albeit maybe a tiny bit"shop worn" just from sitting around someone's house for years with the box opened and partially used. One of them- the one that was ... moreon the top of pile- might be a bit soiled. I cannot tell whether the shadowing or shading is dirt or whether it's part of the painting itself from which the notecard was made. Because these are oversized they would also be nice in small frames and used decoratively. Stated shipping is for shipping to the continental U.S. only. Sometimes you know when a piece is special.and so when I came across this delightful Cobalt Blue H. Magnet& Grape Creamer and Covered Stemmed Sugar Bowl. I knew right away it was a collector's item! The Metropolitan Museum of Art Commissioned these pieces in the mid 20th century. Both pieces are stamped with the"MMA" logo on the beautiful Cobalt Blue glass which has Frosted Grapes and Leaves in their patterns. From the research I've done. This is one of the earliest of all the grape patterns produced by an American Glass company; i.e. the Sandwich Glass Company of Massachusetts. This is a lovely Metropolitan Museum of Art plate by Charles Field Haviland Limoges. It is a reproduction of a famous 1735 dated German Meissen plate. The decoration freely combines Chinese and Japanese motifs. It is from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is a reproduction of a hard-paste porcelain plate made at the Royal Saxon Manufactory at Meissen from 1735. The plate is 9.25 inches across. It features flowers in the center with 3 butterflies. The rim has an embossed basketweave design with scattered flowers. The edge is slightly scalloped and has a brown trim. The hard-paste porcelain is painted with colored enamels under transparent glaze. Marked on the bottom: Metropolitan Museum of Art. Son of the founder of the silver and jewelry firm Tiffany and Company of New York, Louis tiffany began his career as a painter but moved quickly to interior decoration and leaded glass windows. Tiffany's artistic versions found lasting expressions in many of his leaded Favrile glass windows. The museum's Iris necklace is adapted from a detail on one of his Magnolias and Irises windows.
