The Kittens Pillow is adapted from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Caswell carpet. An early American carpet from Castleton, Vermont. It was made by Zeruah Higley Guernsey Caswell in 1835. This kit contains everything you need to finish making this cute pillow. The design is silk screened on linen with complete backing, piping and zipper to make the pillow. Persian yarns, needle and instructions are also included. As you can see this pillow is entirely done in chain stitch, one of the easiest of all crewel embroidery stitches to do. Botanical sprigs and bugs around the outside. Each"hole" is accented in a floral trim. Bright white background. VERY GOOD. Vintage, condition. Here are my observations: Interior is clean, there appears to be some surface crazing from prior use inside. There are a few'pin pops' in the glaze that appear to have occurred during the firing& glazing process, consistent with this type of pottery. Unglazed on the base of the circular foot, note a small crack in the ring. Nothing affects the water-tight ability to plant tulip bulbs. No chips, cracks, hairlines that I can see. No restorations. This curious little catalogue accompanied a 1973 exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art entitled Victorians in Togas: Paintings by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema from the Collection of Allen Funt. Wasn't Allen Funt the host of the TV show Candid Camera back in the 1960s? It includes an amusing introduction by Mr. Funt. An essay by Christopher Forbes, an annotated list of the 35 works exhibited, and black and white photos of each. It is hard to believe that all these great paintings were in a single collection as recently as 1973. The 48-page softcover volume measures 8¾ x 7 inches. It shows some moderate overall wear. Sterling Metropolitan Museum of Art MMA Abalone Necklace Pendant Bracelet Set
Hello here is a great jewelry set from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is sterling silver and abalone. The Set includes a bracelet. Necklace and pendant. This is marked as seen in the photographs. The pendant measures approximately 1 1/4" square and is on a hollow chain link necklace that is approximately 20 inches long. The bracelet is made up of 10 individual squares that measure approximately 5/8" square. Not including the clasp, the bracelet measures 7 1/4" long. The set is in great used condition but there are very fine scratches on the back of the pendant and bracelet from being worn. There are no scratches, chips or cracks in the Abalone pieces. The necklace weighs 19 g, the pendant is 12.3 g and the bracelet weighs 40.3 g.
