Description Vintage 1991 MMA Metropolitan Museum of Art Letter Opener in Art Nouveau Style- Reproduct of Unger Brothers Fabulous letter opener from a Nashville TN estate sale. Heavy repousse silverplate in the design of a mermaid holding a trident. She is described as a dream-like figure with long hair and mermaid's tail. Resting in undulating waves. This is a reproduction of an American Art Nouveau piece by the well-know jewelry makers, Unger Brothers. Their company specialized in Art Nouveau designs. She weighs in at 5.4 oz, heavy silverplate. Measures 9 1/4" long x almost 1 1/4" wide. I do not have the original box but the original insert is included.

Rare Metropolitan Museum of Art Roaring Lions Belt Clasp. Signed MMA on the back of each Lion. The Metropolitan Museum of Art created these lions as part of it's Achaemenian Collection in the mid 1980s. The original of these powerful golden lions dates from 5th-4th century B.C. Persia. It was hammered in repousse over a mold and pierced at several points. Indicating that it was made to be sewn to a garment. This reproduction is 14 kt. gold electroplate. These Roaring Lions were molded with a hook on the back of one and a loop on the back of the other to create the closure. Black Suede& Leather Belt. Lions are in Excellent Condition. This auction is for a sterling silver pin from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is a good-sized pin. Measuring just under 2 3/4 inches wide at the top, and 2 1/2 inches from top to bottom. Please note that the bottom of the pin is a loop of silver. I think a competent jeweler could remove the pin and it could be worn as a pendant. It is hallmarked"MMA" and.925 on the back. This is a Metropolitan Museum of Art Reproduction of a Jacob Boelen Silverplate Dram Cup. It was one of eleven pieces reproduced for the MMA by The Gorham Company of Providence Rhode Island in the 1950s. It features a small hemispherical bowl with twisted wire handles. And a smooth, hammered body. It is a variation of the six-panel dram cups. It is in good condition. It has some surface scratches, but there are no dents.The bowl/ cup is approximately 1-1/4" tall, and is just under 4 inches in diameter.
