1982 Metropolitan Museum Art letter Opener & Magnifying glass set faux
For sale is this 1982 MMA Cast Faux Ivory Metropolitan Museum of Art Letter Opener and Magnifying Glass set. It was described in their catalog as being"cast Ivory" made from a polymer to resemble Ivory and is a reproduction of a 17th Century South German hunting knife handle carved with two scenes from the Old Testament. One side depicts David holding the head of Goliath. The other Judith is holding the head of Holofernes. Each piece has the same casting. The opener is marked MMA 1982 and measures approx. 9" long, In overall great vintage condition with a minor chip to the handle. Please see pictures) The magnifying glass is 7 1/2" long. For sale is a marked"Sterling MMA 1985" A Metropolitan Museum of Art 1985 reproduction of a 17th century Dutch Marriage Box. Box stands a total of 2 5/8" tall and is 6-sided. There are different scenes etched in each of the sides of the box itself and also the lid. Lots of detail. No dents or scratches. But the etching on the lid might be a little worn. Uncleaned, so good patina and ready for a future owner to shine up if they desire. Marked sterling on the piece as well as on the original paperwork that is included in the auction. 93.2 grams

A beautiful MMA"Plate with American Eagle Design" c. 1992. Made in Portugal. Pearl Ware was produced in the Staffordshire region of England in the early 19th C. This octagonal plate with a decorative shell edged border is embellished with 15 stars and free hand version of the American Eagle grasping a laurel branch and arrows. Staffordshire potteries had a thriving export trade with America from about 1810 to 1830. This museum reproduction plate is decorated with applied decal designs and hand painted details. As a result there are individual variations. no two plates are exactly alike. It measures 6" across. It has never been used, and has been kept in storage. The original price tags are attached. Produced on the same Bowl in the museum Collection by Mottahedeh, signed as such on the base. This treasure measures 93 inches deep 6.75 inches diameter. Hand painted tin glaze as the original were and with a little bit of blue from the glaze spotting in side of the bowl( from the manufacture of the piece NOT a damage or defect. inches high and 3.75 inches widest and 3.25 inch deep. The vase is in good condition. During the second half of the 18th century a factory in Crown Street produced soft-paste porcelain ware. Items still exist. And there are collections at the museum in Nicholas Everett Park, Oulton Broad, and at the Castle Museum, Norwich. The factory produced experimental wares in 1756 and ... morefirst advertised their porcelain in 1760.Lowestoft collectors divide the factory's products into three distinct periods, Early Lowestoft circa 1756 to 1761, Middle-Period circa 1761 to 1768 and Late-Period circa 1768 to the closure of the factory in 1799. During the early period wares decorated with Chinese-inspired scenes(Chinoiserie) in underglaze blue were produced. This type of decoration continued throughout the life of the factory but scenes were gradually simplified. Overglaze colors were used from about 1765.
