5 Vintage Pint Mason Jar Collection: Atlas, Knox, Drey and Crown Perfect Mason
Up for auction is a vintage set of 5 pint-sized mason jars. I have an Atlas H over A square jar. Atlas Strong Shoulder, Knox Mason(also square) Crown Mason(with interesting vertical lines along the side and back) and Drey Perfect Mason. None have lids and few have small chips- Atlas Strong Shoulder. Knox and Drey have small chips on the lid part, and Drey overall has some wear. Others appear to be in great condition! This a beautiful set of true vintage jars. Drey jars were only made until 1925 until Ball purchase the company. This jar is made by Drey though. Because the words"perfect" and"mason" are not centered over each other as they were when Ball made them. So this is an incredibly old jar! Atlas jars were made from the late 1800s to 1964. This beautiful hand-painted ginger jar is used. But is in pristine condition. The original manufacturer's sticker is a little faded, but that's it. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, and no fading of paint. The main body features two separate floral patterns and a fabulous phoenix in flight. All of which are painted in an usual copper color highlighted with gold. The jar opening is lined in a gold and copper colored geometric pattern. It's bottom has a copper ring, accented in gold. The lid of the jar has one floral patter in copper, and copper and gold trim. It measures 6 1/2" high by 4" wide. This gorgeous antique Japanese Imari signed Fukagawa jar dates from around 1890. Around the sides of this gorgeous jar are beautiful panels brightly decorated in rich Imari colours. The panels are of stylised flowers. A richly gilt Ho-Ho bird, birds in under-glaze blue and stylised geometric patterns. The lid. Handle and mounting of this jar are brass that at one time would have been silver plated and the plating has now worn off. The lid sits slightly proud of the jar. The base is fully signed with the Fukagawa signature. The top signature on the base is of a stylised mountain and river. Fukagawa translates as mountain river. The workshop was set up by Chuji Fukagawa in the late 19th century to recreate the finest of the early Japanese Genroko period wares. There is no damage to this fine jar and cover. On each side of the jar is a roundel with a Ho-Ho bird in flight. Beneath there is a diamond shaped lozenge with stylised floral decoration. This piece is stamped on the side Pearson's of Chesterfield with what appears to be a C in the middle. I have tried researching this mark to get a better idea of the date. But I have been unable to locate an exact number. Based on what I have found, this appears to be a very early piece dating to the ... more1800s. It measures approximately 7 1/4" tall and is 5" diameter at the base. It has some irregularities within the glaze that would be expected with any handmade piece. This piece is in great condition without any cracks or chips! It is an estate find so it may have some light signs of wear and may be somewhat dusty. This would make a fabulous décor piece or addition to a collection! Please note that all of our estate items are sold as-is meaning that we are selling them in the condition in which we found them. It is complete with metal lid. There are two pin head nicks to base that I almost missed as they were that small(about the 4 o'clock position on the 2nd pic) The lid is tarnished and most of the original coating has worn away. Most of the jars out there that are like this are one color but this one is more of a harlequin look with two colors. We have found the maker of these jars to be listed as Beaumont Glass Company or Taussaunt Glass. But Taussaunt seems to have marked their pieces, and this one is unmarked. The dish measures approx. 5.3" wide and 4.5" tall with the lid in place. There are a number of flea bites mostly in inconspicuous places. The lid glows bright green under black light! A true find for the avid collector or packer/crafter who wants a totally unique look- CLEAR jars Hazel Atlas"EZ seal" jars- BRAND NEW IN SEALED FACTORY CARTON. we found a few cartons of these collectible jars in an old glass storage warehouse unmoved since the mid 60's- totally environmentally sealed warehouse- so the jars are in great shape- the bails may show some corrosion consistant with metal that is over 50 years old. but the ones I opened to photograph were remarkably in great shape. though I am selling these with"no gaskets" there were a dozen in a sealed jar inside along with instruction- they were still usuable for storage- however I would recommend a new gasket for canning purposes. a FIDO gasket fits this jar- though it is larger on the outside then the original gaskets. Any jar collector- or antique collector ... morewill realize what a find this was! Hazel Atlas jars were American made canning and freezer storage jars of unsurpassed strength and quality- these jars were made prior to 1964 when the company was liquidated. Some comments on collectible jars from Hazel Atlas: 1 Look for jars embossed with the Atlas name in raised lettering. Take note of any dates or other information on the jars. The Hazel-Atlas company was in business from 1902 to 1964. During 1940s and'50s. The company was one of the largest producers of canning jars along with competitors Ball and Kerr. 2 Check the style and color. Only a few types of Atlas jars are collectible: the Atlas E-Z Seal. Vintage covered stoneware preserve jar. This stoneware jar measures 6 1/2" to the rim of the jar and 8 1/4" to the top of the metal piece that secures the lid. It is 5 1/2" in diameter at the base. There are no cracks or chips in the jar but there is a chip on the lid that can be seen clearly in photos#3& 4. The lid is also a slightly different color than the jar being more tan than grey. Vintage Antique Colbalt Blue Fleur-De-Lis Floral Porcelain Bisquit/Cookie Jar
Up for auction is this really pretty& different looking colbalt blue porcelain jar. I am not sure if it is a cookie or biscuit jar. Well. Whatever it is, I think it is pretty. The handles are really unique the way they are shaped. The Fleur-De-Lis floal pattern is all around the jar& is so neat. On the bottom of the jar is the# 590. There are no other markings. The lid has several chips that mostly can only be seen when you lift up the lid. The jar is 8" tall x 6" across. It is 4" across the top of the opening. Please examine the photos closely. Antique Vintage English Biscuit Jar/Cracker Barrel Hand Painted Artist Signed
A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. Please look carefully at the photos to see some examples of the condition of the biscuit jar. Antique Austrian LION On Front Pipe Tobacco Jar Humidor c.1850-1910, No16505 74
Old Majolica Humidor with beautiful Lion laying down in grass with a pyramid in the background. Signed on bottom with early number 1650 and faint 5. Then 74 incised in glaze. I think it means it was made in 1874. I know very little about Majolica just what I found on line. The lid has a compartment with a hole to put a wet sponge or cotton in to keep the Tobacco humid. This was a gift from a friend, he had purchased it from an Auction, I left the label on. It is very old. Possible one of a kind left and has been used. There is a chip on the foot base, one corner of the box, with another on the lid. We show them in the photo's, you do not see them when it is standing. Look at the photo's that we took so you can see them. But put together you do not see them. We are selling it cheaper because of the chips. Please ask questions or more ... morephoto's if you like. Up for auction we have a vintage soda fountain or drug store candy or display jar. This is one of four listings that I have on tonight. All from the same estate. And all great stuff from an old soda fountain. This auction is for the jar that you see in the pictures. The jar is unmarked, and I'm not sure exactly how old it is. It measures 8" tall with the lid on, 5 3/8" across the opening, and 4 3/4" across the bottom. It has 10 sides, and its weight is 3 1/2 Lbs. No chips, cracks, or damage of any kind. Nice clear free or dip mold blown rolled lip open pontiled apothecary jar from the mid to late 1800s measuring 8" tall to the top of the lid. Jar is in perfect condition free of chips cracks dings or haze found in the basement of an old drug store in Tremont PA. Bottle is very lightweight so under a pound for shipping.
