Up for auction is this amazing rare hand painted porcelain antique circa 1892-1907. Tresseman&Vogt T&V Limoges, artist signed( A. Kiene) Sea Shell tureen. The artistry on this beautiful piece is stunning. The blue green waters have been highlighted with white to make the water appear to be moving. The gold gilt is heavy on the legs and and sea shell handle. There is artistically painted seaweed, and lovely seashells in soft pinks and deep orange colors accented with white to give that three dimensional effect. The tureen stands approx. 3 1/4" without the lid, and with the lid it stands approx. 5 1/2" to the top of the handle. The width of the tureen without the lid is approx. 6 1/4" and with the lid it is approx 6 7/8" The depth of the tureen is approx. 2 1/4" deep. The repair is visible from the inside and outside. There are two sides that are not chipped or repaired, so this piece would display beautifully. Though this plate was created in the 1890’s. It displays a timeless elegance that simply remains classic through out the ages. Beautiful roses and foliage are masterfully worked around this plates rim flowing to the center. Very well painted and balanced in a simplicity that will compliment a wide verity of styles and décor. Back stamps ~ Flambeau China(L.D.B. Co. Late 1890’s to World War 1. Decorators Mark ~ is the third mark that Flambeau used and is a green over glaze that was used between the 1890’s– 1900. They are hand painted and signed by an amateur artist in pastel blue flowers that are outlined with green foliage and offset with small touches of yellow and red. The tops are painted in a full clean gold and the shape is of a simple and elegant rectangle. Both are marked with a green underglaze P L Limoges France. This is a La Porcelaine Limousine mark. Condition ~ is excellent to mint. This set is extremely clean. The decoration is full and bright. I have not removed the cork stoppers and do not know if they still hold any salt or pepper. Designed by Schleiger, is the Venetia pattern C1920 with yellow flowers and green leaf floral pattern embellished in 22kt gold. The floral pattern flows into the inside of the serving bowl and is scattered on the underside of the bowl. The shape of the this serving piece is seen in other Haviland patterns by Schleiger. Most notably the"Theo" pattern from the early 1900s. The vegetable serving bowl measures 9" in diameter, 10" across handle-to-handle, and is 2 1/2" high. This serving dish is in excellent condition. RARE--Lovely Antique Ovington's Limoges Creamer by T&V--approx. 90 yrs old. NR!
Gorgeous Yellow Limoges Creamer-early 1920s-made expressly by T&V for Ovington's New York! Ovington's was a famous(some say notorious) store in New York that specialized in household decorative items and tableware. Originally founded as Ovington Brothers in 1849. It changed it's name to Ovington's in 1920. In its heyday, Ovington's was as famous and prestigeous as its jewelry making counterpart, Tiffany's. Unfortunately it doe not survive the economic woes of the Great Depression. Tressemann& Vogt was one of many factories doing business in Limoges. France the late 19th/early 20th century. They produced many pieces of white ware that were decorated elsewhere and decorated porcelain as well. Their marks consisted of both a green rectangular underglaze T&V white ware mark and a red bell overglaze decorating ... moremark. As shown in the second picture. In 1919 Martial Reynaud bought the company and continued using the T&V mark for a while as well as his own Reynaud mark. Ovington's often commissioned tableware patterns from the finest manufacturers to be made expressly for. And limited to. Ovington's. Thus Ovington's would have patterns that no one else had. This little creamer is one of those items, as the marks on the bottom indicate. I have not been able to discover the name of the pattern. This incredible little creamer stands approximately 5" tall and approximately 4 1/4" from the top of the handle to the tip of the spout. It is in pristine. Near perfect condition. The only wear and tear is some slight wear on the unglazed edges on the bottom where it would have sat on a table or shelf. We should all look so good when we hit 90 years of age. Collectors will recognize that this is a rare find! Offered is a three piece antique Limoges sewing tool lot. I see that the collection includes a needle holder cannon that measures just over 2 inches long by 1" tall by 1" wide from side to side. As well as a tiny buton egg that measures 1" long by three-quarters of an inch wide from side to side at its largest point by half an inch tall. I also see a penguin thimble holder with a different design than the other items that measures 2" tall by 1" long from side to side by three-quarters of an inch thick. All the items in the set are marked"Limoges France" and I also see that all the pieces in the lot are in great used condition.I see a tiny loss of gold color on one edge of the button egg.This is NOT a chip, but looks like a rub on the color to me.Otherwise, I see no additional color losses, fading, chips, ... morecracks, crazing, fleabites, signs of excessive use or abuse or damages of any kind on any member of the collection. FROM FRANCE ANTIQUE LIMOGES SAUCERS- EXCELLENT CONDITION- ESTATE PIECES ELEGANT ANTIQUE LIMOGES SAUCERS(2) Up for sale are exquisite Antique Limoges Saucers. As Limoges collector's know. It is often very hard to identify patterns, however, I was able to identify the"Mark" to date the piece. The Mark is"P" Theodore Haviland Limoges France. This mark dates to 1903. Theodore Haviland. Son of Haviland China founder David Haviland, got his start in the family business in the 1850s. At the end of the Civil War in 1865, Theodore was sent to America to handle the distribution and promote Haviland porcelain while his brother Charles remained in France to oversee production. After David Haviland died in 1879. The brothers continued to work together for many years. However, the two visionaries, both with strong artistic talents, ... morefound it impossible to continue to work together. Consequently, Haviland and Company closed December 31, 1891 and a new company called Haviland and Company was opened but now managed by Charles Haviland with his eldest son, George. Theodore opened his own factory, the most modern in Limoges, France, for the company registered under his name on August 3, 1893. The owner acquired these pieces and a few other pieces of Limoges while she was any Army Officer(Surgical Nurse) during WWII. She safely packed her treasures in her foot locker and managed to get them home to the US at the end of the war. These were prize pieces of hers and she proudly displayed them in a cabinet. This is a beautiful and rare jardiniere marked D&Co FRANCE(DELANIERE& COMPANY. LIMOGES FRANCE, ca. 1894-11900) The piece is 9" in diameter in its widest part. 6 1/2" high. 7" opening, 5" base diameter. It is hand painted and signed on the bottom with a now faint golden signature(see last picture) The bowl is decorated with various kinds of flowers and foliage. Some of the paint is in relief(see picture 5) Golden scrolls adorn the bowl. The large border is hand brushed with gold in an unusually irregular pattern. If you look at the pictures you can see that the gold around is not worn out. But purposely applied that way. The gold on the very edge of the opening seems to be worn. The bowl is very clean inside. Like it was never used. Condition is excellent with no visible chips. Cracks nor repairs. This can be a ... moregreat centerpiece with or without flowers or plants. Antique Haviland GDM Limoges Decorative Plates Hand Painted Signed Description ~ This set of four 8& ½” plates are late 1800s Haviland& Cie/ CFH GDM limoges porcelain. They are masterfully hand painted depictions of fruit hanging in a tree featuring plums. Peaches, lemons and cherries. The style is reminiscent of the art nouveau period yet a distinct style and artistic expression sets them apart. Overall the artist has used space well with balance in design and color. The colors are of a muted palette with touches of light that adds depth. Date of Painting ~ This set of four hand painted plates could very well have been decorated at any point in time from the late 1800s to now. Artist ~ Janet K; I have not been able to identify the artist. Circa ~ I have dated the greenware as follows; Haviland Mark ~ Three plates are marked ... morewith. H& Co that is underlined with L below. Date this mark was used 1876– 1889. It is a green underglaze manufacturing mark. The fourth plate is marked with an 1881- 1890 mark of CFH underlined. With GDM below. GDM is the mark of; Gerard Durfraisseix Moral/ Abbot Limoges. This CFH/ GDM plate also has three holes in the bases rim so that it can be hung on a wall. These appear to have been drilled by the manufacturer. Above each green underglaze factory mark is the artist signature. Janet K. Haviland& GDM Short History; GDM ~ In 1881 Gerard Dufraisseix Morel/Abbot Limoges took over Charles Field Haviland& Cie after Mr Charles F. Haviland’s retirement. GDM continued to use the CFH decorating mark and also used a CFH/ GDM manufacturing mark. Condition ~ is excellent. This is a very pristine set. The only discrepancy that I have found is a loss of gold trim at the very edge of the rim on the CFH/ GDM marked plate with the painting of cherries. All reasonable offers are considered.
