The entire pot is painted in those gorgeous Victorian colors of greens light to dark then the artist who did not sign this. Added with the right touches of color, bouquets of roses in pinks then trimmed it in Gold. The pot stands approx. 9" tall. This is in Excellent condition free from damage. Little to no gold wear. Marked on the bottom with the Guerin mark which dates it from 1891. 19th Century Quality painting. William Guerin(1838-1912) was born near Limoges and trained in porcelain techniques. After military service, he rented a porcelain decorating workshop in the Faubourg Montjovis(Limoges) in 1836, doing export. About 1872 Guerin took over the porcelain workshop of Lebron& Cie. Then in 1877 he bought the porcelain factory that had been established by Jouhanneaud and Dubois in Rue du Petit-Tour(Limoges) and which had been bought in 1867 by the Utzschneider Company of Saurregemines and run by Leopold Dubois. This enlarged company produced a wide range of wares, selling a lot of whiteware and also continuing decoration. Guerin's sons William and Andre joined the company in 1903. In 1911 W. Guerin& Cie merged with the nearby Pouyat factory, buying 3/4 of Pouyat; the new firm became Guerin& Cie. Possibly both company marks were continued; in any case WWI greatly decreased output. In 1920 or 1921 by Bawo& Dotter Ltd. owner of Elite name, bought Guerin& Cie and became Guerin Pouyat Elite, with Carl Bawo as technical director from 1923. Antique French Limoges Enamel on copper Plaque- Portrait of St. Augustine. By Mettie E. Webb, dated 1-5-05 We are pleased to present this lovely French Limoges enamel painted plaque of St. Augustine. The enamel painting utilizes the earlier'grisaille' or grey tone on black style along with the colored enamels on foil technique which was a little later. Also highlighted by a trace amount of gold gilding on the edge of the helmet and used in signing the artist's name and date. The handsome portrait of the man is very well executed by the artist. Mettie E. Webb. We were fortunate in having found this piece along with bits of information that helps us with knowing what the title of the painting was as well as the artist name and date on the front. The plaque is framed in its original decorated frame of gesso wood with a tooled leather liner. Please refer to the photos for the details of the frame and portrait. The backside is worn, faded and has had earlier repairs to the hinge stand. Measurements: The plaque itself measures approximately 5 inches in height x 3 3/4 inches in width. The framed image is approximately 10 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Condition: The enamel plaque is in very good condition with only slight wear to some of the gilding on the helmet. No Chips. Cracks, scratches or repairs or restorations were noted. The frame is another issue in itself. The gesso wood trim surrounding the portrait has a 3/4 inch piece missing. This trim is cracked in several places but the pieces are pretty much still intact. There are small chips and flakes around the edges of the frame as well. The silk material backside is worn and faded. The hinge stand has been repaired earlier, but is again in need of some attention. Antique Limoges Demitasse Cup Set Maidenhair Fern Twig Handle 1800's Rare Design
This is a gorgeous and rare antique demitasse set. It is unmarked. But was made by the CFH Limoges porcelain factory in the late 1800's. It is very fine eggshell thin white porcelain with a delicate woodsy hand painted design of maidenhair ferns. The cup has a lobed body and the saucer also has this quatrefoil design. It has an ornate handle design of a twig with leaves which is painted with heavy matte gold. The rim of the cup and the rim of the saucer also have matte gold highlights. This beautiful set is in excellent condition and free from cracks, chips or other damage. There is some VERY minor gold loss on the handle which can barely be seen without magnification. It is a beautiful Limoges hand painted cup. Possibly a shaving mug, with roses and gold trimmed rim and handle. Signed on the bottom T&Y Limoges France. The porcelain is so sheer you can almost see right through it. The painted roses are so delicate and beautifully done. They are not signed so we can’t say who the artist was. It measures about 3.25” tall x 3” in diameter. Not counting the handle. It is in very good condition with some wear to the gold on the rim and handle. There is a spider web mark on the bottom but it does appear to be perhaps only a stain on the crazing on the glaze as there is no sign from inside the cup. There is a small pit mark right there so it looks like it was just dirt that seeped in during it’s long lifetime. This wonderful mug would be great addition to any French Limoges antique pottery ceramic home decor accessories collection. this auction is for an antique porcelain hand painted plate with a metal base. the plate is signed worrell on the face. the plate is 7.5 inches across and on the base stands 3.25 inches tall. no chips. This is a beautiful tankard. Marked J.P.L. FRANCE(Jean Poyat Limoges France. Ca.1890-1932) The piece is decorated with hand painted grapes and foliage on a pastel background of various colors. I don't see any wear or scratches on this painted part. The handle is dragon-shaped. And painted in realistic colors. It is still like new with no wear to the paint. The edge is gilded and still in good condition with only light wear to the gold. The tankard is in excellent condition without chips. Cracks or repairs. Only flaw I can see is what looks like a burst bubble in the glaze at the bottom of the piece inside(see picture) A factory imperfection in the white ware. The piece is impressive. 15" high at the spout. 6" in diameter at the base. 7 1/2" wide with handle, 3 1/2" diameter under the spout. 5 1/2" opening with ... morespout. Antique Limoges Porcelain Chamber Pot Floral Lillies of the Valley, L@@K!!
Up for your bidding consideration is this antique Chamber Pot marked OCCO Limoges Porcelain. These antique pots are getting harder and harder to find. The pattern is floral with a lillies of the valley pattern. The top opening measures a generous 8.25 inches in diameter. The chamber pot is in excellent condition with NO breaks. Cracks, or chips. Some very minor paint loss on floral pattern. A nice clean piece inside and out. Note, some of the pictures may suffer from glare. Be sure to take a moment and look at my other auctions this week. This is a delightful vase or cachepot. Designed to hold letters or other desk accessories. The piece is marked W.G.LIMOGES FRANCE(WILLIAM GUERIN.Ca. 1900-1932) The signature of the artist is on the bottom. But difficult to read. The vase is totally hand painted and decorated with heavy gold on the ring handles and on the four feet. The front features a composition of oriental inspiration. With geisha and cherry blossoms. The back of the vase is painted with a mother-of-pearl like glaze. And the same is on the interior of the piece for about one inch from the rim. The vase is more than 6 1/2" high and the opening is 5" by 2 3/4" Condition of the item is close to perfection with no visible flaw. No chips. Cracks nor repairs on this item. Antique F W Levy Imperial Limoges Cream Pitcher Circa 1920
This is a beautiful Limoges creamer made by the F W Levy Imperial Company. My research says that the F W Levy Company was in business from 1915 to 1920 in Limoges. France. The pitcher is in a very nice. Unknown pink rose pattern that is very similar to Haviland’s“Baltimore Rose” pattern. It is 5 ½” tall and 3 ½” in diameter at the base. It weighs 8.3 oz. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Even the gold trim on the handle show little if any wear. There is one dark speck on the side from manufacturing. As with any antique piece. You will see a few dimples or wrinkles in the porcelain that occurred during the manufacturing process. The Maker’s Mark on the bottom is very clear. Antique Limoges Elite France Large Handpainted Artist Signed Art Nouveau Bowl Superb ornate shape with gorgeously designed purple. Yellows& green florals in Art Nouveau Style. Description ~ This highly ornate Limoges bowl displays a true Art Nouveau style in shape as well as decoration. The blank is from Bawo& Dotter(Elite Works) who was in production from the 1860’s to 1932. The shape is highly detailed in a sinuous organic form featuring three leaf shaped feet that work up the bulbous body into handles and vines around the rim and base in one continuous flow. The exterior body itself is handpainted by an amateur artist named R. Dixon who continued with the overall flow of shape by decorating in a strong Art Nouveau influence using green stem and leaf to vine and ribbon itself around a bloomed violet mum and ending in yellow half ... moreopened. I am assuming, mums over a sandy beige background that is dotted in tiny gold brush marks. All is bordered in a heavy thick gold trim. Marks ~ green underglaze white ware production backstamp that reads; Elite L France with a underscore under Elite. This is a Bowo& Dotter(Elite Works) mark that they used from 1900 to their closing in 1932. The second mark is the artist signature in script that reads R. Dixon. Circa ~ 1900– 1932 Artist ~ R. Dixon. Condition ~ is wonderfully excellent. The colors and pattern are full. Bright and clean with a 98% full gold trim. Missing gold is on the very tips of the handles and a couple of small spots at the rim. One handle has a small line of missing gold and one tip at the rim feels slightly rough. There are not any chips, cracks or scratches and the discrepancies mentioned are must look for to find faults. Guery) and Company(D& Co. of the La Taupiniere Porcelain Factory on Rue Albert Thomas, Limoges France(1860 to 1900) French Art Pottery, Hand Painted Open Sugar Bowl and Hand Painted Creamer(Cream Pitcher) Set with a Floral Pattern Consisting of Alternating Pink Roses& Purple Violets Sharing the same Stem and Leaf Pattern over a Gloss White Glaze Application Attributed to being Decorated in Limoges, France in"Excellent Plus" to"Near-Mint" Used Condition, Circa 1894 to 1900. I first want to explain that in the United States from the 1870s until World War Two the biggest hobby in this country was painting on porcelain. You had amateur painters. Professional painters, professional porcelain decorating and painting studios and some American poreclain potteries ... morehad their own decorating departments. One crucial piece of knowledege you kneed to know is that the vast majority of this porcelain artwork done by American porcelain artists was painted on blank white porcelain imported in from other countries, You had French Limoges porcelain, Bavarian porcelain(and it was its own state from 1806 to 1918) German porcelain, Austrian-Bohemian porcelain and some came from Nippon(which is Japan) and other Far East Asian countries. The reason for this was the United States was still in its infancy when it came to porcelain production and the imported porcelain blanks were much less expensive then our own American porcelain blanks in most cases. Because of this a common mistake is to attribute antique American painted porcelain as to being painted in the country on the backstamp. There was a law institued in 1891 by the United States requiring all goods imported into the U.S.A. to have the country of origin on it somewhere. Therefore we have an abundance of antique hand painted porcelain by Americans on blanks marked from another country. Ten Antique Haviland & Co. Limoges China Cup & Saucer Sets Pink Flowers France
Up for sale are ten lovely antique white porcelain cups and saucer sets made by Haviland& Co. of Limoges. France. They have very pretty delicate sprays of pink flowers(poppy) with green leaves that are scattered around the cups on the interior and exterior, and on the saucers. The rims of the pieces are scalloped and the cups are footed. The saucers are 5 3/8" across and the rims are raised to 3/4" The rim diameters of the cups are 3 3/8" and they are 2" tall. The marks on the bases date the pieces to from 1894 to 1931. The condition is excellent. There are no chips or cracks. Insurance is included in the shipping fee. I will be listing additional pieces of Haviland in this pattern over the next few days, including a covered casserole, and I would be happy to combine the shipping fee, when possible. T&V Antique Porcelain Portrait Plaque Painting BOEHM signed Limoges France
This antique porcelain painting has been in our family for many decades. I don't know much about it. But it is signed Boehm. I believe this was Henry Richard Boehm, a New York artist that committed suicide at the age of 44.see below for more info on the artist. I didn't even realize it was signed until today when I pulled the tile out to photograph the back. I don't know if this was a private painting or done of someone famous. The painting is really well done. I took some close-ups and angles so you could see the paint. There is beaded paint on the pearls of her scarf. The porcelain blank was from T&V in Limoges. France and measures about 6" x 4" With the frame measuring roughly 8" x 6" The frame has a delicate metal(brass? edging built into it, which appears original. It should be noted that the upper ... moreleft corner appears to have a small piece of that edging missing(see close-ups) Henry Richard Boehm(1870- 1914) 1870- 1914(suicide) by 1905 had moved to New York. He lived in Briarcliff Manor. New York, in Westchester County near Ossining. He is listed in the 1910 NY Census with his wife and adopted daughter. He was an artist of some note whose work appeared on the covers and inside several magazine like COSMOPOLITAN, LESLIE'S WEEKLY, PEARSON'S, and LADIES' WORLD. He received strong praise from the editors of COSMOPOLITAN who claimed to have"discovered" Boehm. Despite this apparent success, he committed suicide on February 1, 1914.

Pair of antique Limoges planters with Japonisme-inspired cranes
These big planters with an African crowned crane. A stork and plants in relief bisque on the front are Henri Ardant for Limoges between 1873 and 1883. Glazed porcelain in apple green contrast with the moss green scene in bisque. On the sides, handles are dog heads in light yellow. In very good condition, save some loss of gilt and one feet-in one of the planters- that has been restored(see photo) But neither diminish the beauty of the planters, which are perfectly usable. On the bottom, a number: 398" and"H.A. Cie" Ardant's mark, both incised in the porcelain. Height: 11" diameter at the bottom: 8" diameter at the top: 6 1/2" Returns are not accepted.
