Pair of antique Indonesian temple statues which are made of wood that is carved and painted. They appear to be religious or spirituality offering statues as the backs lift up with area for offerings. I am not a dealer or expert but I believe they are in good condition for their age. I was told. When I purchased them 46 years ago, they were possibly 17th century and some of the paint was actually blood. One statue has repaired foot with little effort to be authentic(was this way when I purchased) Heads are strange and teeth scary. Weigh approx. 4 lbs. each and 16" high. Several of these were available at the time I purchased but I was lead to believe they were no longer allowed to be exported by government. Fantastic and unusual. Great conversation pieces. Extremely old violin probably from the Tyrol reagion possibly 17th century
The region of Tyrol now consists of Northern Italy and Western Austria. As can be seen in the photos this violin is very old.18th century or maybe 17th century. It has several repaired cracks on the top, but no soundpost cracks. There are no cracks or repaired cracks on the back. There are a couple of tiny cracks on the rib near the chin rest and the seam at the end pin needs re-glued as does the rib where it connects to the back below the end pin. In the last two photos you can see the the scroll has been grafted to a newer neck sometime in the past. The fingerboard and the nut need to be re-attached and there is a shim glued to the fingerboard. I think I got everything but ask questions just in case.

Here is a hard-to-find vintage Russian Lacquer Lidded Stein featuring a hand-painted hand-signed scene of an Orthodox Church. I believe this is St. Peters Church. But I'm not 100% sure. Regardless the stein is in superior condition, is truly flawless, has great hand-painted detail, and is signed by the artist. The stein measures 6" tall and 6" long. I have had this for a while and have had numerous experts take a look at it. And so far no one has been able to identify the marks. There are 3 marks, all on the front of the piece, two on the left part of the bow and one on the right side of the bow. You can click on the pictures and zoom in to see the marks. You can barely see them with the naked eye. One is of a mans head, another of a plain circle stamp and the one on the right looks like a miniature gumby figure. One expert stated that this is portugese most likely and possibly spanish. The back pin part does not appear to be original. This same expert also believes that there could have been a cross hanging from ... morethe bow originally. The retail value I was given was $4000-5000. Now to the details. The diamonds have been tested and it is 18kt gold. There is one section on the back that looks different to me so it may also be mixed with some other metal. There are 15 diamonds. 7 on each side and one in the middle. The one in the middle is either a table or rose cut and the ones on the sides literally look barely cut at all. One of the experts stated this was made sometime in the period of the first cut diamonds. The brooch measures 1" Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert. I personally purchased a diamond tester and tested those myself too so I know the diamonds are real. The quality and karat cannot be known because of the setting. The gold is melted up the sides so only the top of the diamonds show. I did not test the gold myself so I cannot guarantee the 18kt statement. Another expert told me it was probably 22kt. Rock cliffs, mountains, lakes, ect. As you can see I removed the base plate of the vase which reveals a double ring with Kangxi period mark. I also found a piece of paper with provenance under the base plate which as you can see says the vase was purchased in 1947 at French& Co for 125 dollars, it was then valued 33 years ago in 1980 at 2000 dollars, and is also noted as being a Kangxi period piece on the paperwork. The Vase came from the estate with these top quality gold gilt solid bronze mounts which display the vase beautifully and which has been rewired for practical use. The gilt mounts are of the finest quality I have seen. Other than being drilled to the base the vase is otherwise in fine original condition with no damage. The story behind this large tapestry is that I bought a group of textiles from the attic of a grand country home, and this was amongst them. I thought I knew what it was immediately. But didn't dare to sell it without confirmation, so I sent some images to a top London Museum with a textile department. Based on the images. And not examined by hand, they confirmed that this was probably a 17th Century tapestry, and based on the tree's and village in the background, very likely to be Flemish as this was ... morecommon to Flemish work. If whole and in good conditon. These tapestries have sold for £10,000 plus in recent times! This is neither whole. Or in good condition SO PLEASE READ AND STUDY THE PHOTOS WITH CARE! Personally. I find it so compelling that I would say it could be immediately framed just as it is, with all the faults. It is the type of image that would look fabulous in an all white empty room, certainly dramatic enough! But it has suffered greatly. As you can see. The main piece has a male face to one side. The second piece has his hand[s] and foot, but there is nothing to connect them. I think that second piece could only be used to support renovation of the main piece. The tapestry has broken in strips of approx 2-3" horizontally in many places. Some areas have escaped. But not many. I would say that some of the repair work to re-join these strips is good and certainly not easy to see if you are a non-expert like me. There are many more still to be done. The lower half. Italian 17th Century 1600's SIlk Brocade Panels w Valance Metallic Gold Lace- This very old fabric is from the 1600's and is a crimson silk bropcade with metallic gold pomegranites and grapes trimmed in a metallic gold shell patterned lace. The 2 large panels probably were drapes or bed hangings. They have the gold lace down one edge, one panel is slightly better than the other, both have lots of fraying and wear as shown. They measures 58 1/2 inches wide, the fabric panels are 20 i8nches selveldge to selvedge and they are 97 inches long, the lace is 2 3/8 inches wide and goes down one long side and about 14 inches into the bottom edge. The valance is in a bit better shape, ... morelots of wear and frays, but holding together. It has a scalloped bottom and the gold lace is slightly gathered on the bottom edge and is straight across the top. It's lined in a coarse linen, it's 8 inches wide and 79 inches long. They were de-accessioned from a museum, there's a very old twill tape on the pieces with Chesnay hand written on it, not sure of that was the donor. As is. For sale is an original(not reproduction) 17th century military"lobstertail" pot helmet. Or"zischagge' Helmet measures approximately 15 inches in length and 11 inches in height. With the opening the head fits into measuring approximately 8.5 inches in diameter. Helmet retains its two cheek guards, which are separate and measure approximately 4.2 x 6 inches each. Helmet retains a workable screw in the forehead, which once held a no longer extant face guard in place. Helmet retains much original leatherwork on both the cheek guards and helmet interior. Under the visor is what I presume to be an armourer's mark consisting of three dots in a row(see photos above) It is hard to say with complete certitude where this originates from. ENGLISH LATE-17TH CENTURY NAVAL HANGER SWORD & SCABBARD - CHARLES II BLADE
This is a truly unusual and possibly unique sword that is quite intriguing and of extremely early date. It is of relatively small proportions and likely that it was carried as a form of short sword or large dirk type weapon. I have given it a naval attribution as its style is reminiscent of very early naval hanger type cutlasses. The blade is very interesting and bears two deeply stamped marks of a crown with the letter"C" underneath. This style designation is seen in coinage of the period that was minted during the reign of King Charles II(1630-1685) and I am pretty certain that the blade is therefore of military issue. It is flat-backed and curved and attached to a simple iron hilt with a staghorn grip. From looking at the pommel we can see that both blade and hilt have been together for a considerable period of time and likely ... moreto be original to eachother and both dating from the end of the 17th Century. The sword comes with an iron scabbard. This is one of the earliest examples of this sword type that I have ever come across. Magnificent Balkan flask mid-17th century Flat flask of leaded pewter alloy with grey age patina. Richly decorated in relief. Round body soldered of three pieces, both sides with a cast of a Nuremberg prince-elector plate. Flared foot with scrolling flowers and lattice pattern at either side. Conical neck with sturdy lip, two side handles with scrolling leaves in relief and stylised dragon heads. Some dents, small cracks and older repairs, minor flaw at the shoulder. Height 36 cm. Rare vessel type. Probably used for religious ceremonies. The design combines distinct Ottoman influences with the motif of a prince-elector plate as produced in Nuremberg around 1630.
