They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. If you need larger pics, or perhaps a different view, contact me and I'll send you the requested pics asap. The footstool's fabric is intact- no rips. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Someone removed what appears to be shipping tape- and that managed to remove some of the color in a small area which is more noticeable in the pictures than in person. Beautiful 1848(Entered in 1847) First American Edition. Leather Bound"Spratt's Obstetric Tables" From the preface: The European reputation of this work is perhaps greater than that of any other of the kind. It was so novel and so difficult a piece of work. That no lithographers liked to undertake it. This was at the time, the pinnacle of the book binders craft and was as technologically advanced for the day as the latest computers are to us. This edition contains all 21 plates, some of which have four or five movable layers in order to explicitly demonstrate each step of a procedure, each painstakingly tipped in to the pages by hand so that the top flap had extra space to accommodate the lower layers and still lay flat when closed. Most of the major plates and flaps are delicately hand colored as well. The flaps gave the illustrations ... morethe three-dimensional quality of a model and reproduced a dissection as they were unfolded which was as close as you could get to experience the human anatomy without surgery. These superb overlays lift up to depict female reproductive organs, the developing fetus, the use of the forceps in delivery, abortions, anatomical irregularities, unusual fetal presentations and, for the first time with the 1848 Edition, a Cesarean section and the the use of the Cephalotribe. Now to condition of this copy: All plates and all movable flaps are present and still supple– the pages are not the slightest bit delicate. All plates still have their tissue guards in place. The foxing runs from moderate to none( some of the plates are more heavily foxed on the back, blank side, but this does not affect the viewable part) The binding is tight and there are no marks on any of the pages(except for the mentioned foxing) The original, blind tooled leather covers and spine are in exceptional condition for the age of this volume. Vintage Mid Cent.German Black Forest Coffee Table + 2 End Tables Hand Carved
Up for bids is a very unique set of 3 1950's Hand Carved Black Forest tables. You are getting a rectangle coffeee table and 2 end tables. The coffee table measures 18 3/4 tall by 55 inches long and 22 inches wide. There is some slight wear on the top around the outside of the inlaid carvings. It appears to be either fading or some slight water damage. Nothing in our opinion that cannot be repaired. The metal table edging does have sone scrapes and a small crack. The inside carved area is in perfect condition.The 2 end tables are 2 tier and they measure 20 inches wide by 26 1/2 long by 26 inches tall. Each table has a crack in the glass where the upper tier braces connect to the bottom. One crack is all the way across and the other is just an inch or so. Set, 3 Italian Nesting Tables, c. 1940-50
This is a lovely set of nesting tables in burled walnut with a bamboo style leg design and an arched stretcher. There are three tables in the set and the largest is 22 1/2" tall and 18 1/2" wide. The middle table measures 19 1/2" tall and 12 1/2" wide. The smallest table measures 16 1/2" tall and 9" wide. They are in excellent condition. There is a label on the base that reads"Made in Italy. DELICATE RETRO VINTAGE 1950's UTILITY STYLE NEST OF TABLES HAND-MADE'WARE-RITE' PLY UNIQUE VGC Both Large and Medium tables are laminated in Teak on one side and Dark Brown on the underside whilst the Small table is laminated in Teak on both sides. The legs are cut from 1/2" ply and stained as shown in photographs. As a kid I can remember my late Father making these in his shed in the early fifties. He was working at the'WARE-RITE' factory in the Town which specialised in this NEW form of laminate. It was an early Formica(I think they took the business over later that decade) Every evening for what seemed like months. I would watch him as he spent hours laminating. Trimming, staining and assembling the components. The tables were always of a delicate construction but NEVER got broken. Despite being in constant use ... morefor over fifty years until they were retired to storage in the loft around 2004. Large Table is 405mm x 300mm x 420mm High Medium Table is 3405mm x 250mm x 395mm High Small Table is 285mm x 205mm x 360mm High My items are all from the Estate of a deceased relative and need a loving home. Vintage Bedroom set made in 1941 or 1942. Wide dresser measures 72 in. wide x 21 deep x 35.5 high. Tall dresser measures 50 in. tall x 36 in. wide x 19 deep. end tables open left and right. Measure 29 in. high x 19 wide x 15 in. deep. Only the large dresser doesn't have a glass top covering. All pieces need refinishing. Head board measures 56 in. wide x 42 in. high, all measurements taken at highest or widest points. Wide dresser has a center locking door with key. See pictures.
