Dating from the 1890s era. It is in complete restored condition and all set to go in the home. We take a lot of pride in doing up our antiques nicely, and we certainly went all out here, with our head refinisher Norm doing a job of unbelievable quality on this desk. It has a tiger sawn writing surface in the center, which had to be glued back down as most desks of this age. We also had to re-glue everything, reinforce the roll, sand, strip, stain, and apply multiple coats of sealer and satin sheen lacquer on this hard-to-find 66-inch-wide roll-top desk by the Derby Desk Company of Boston, Mass. If you’ve been looking for a roll-top, and you’d like one to brag about, this one gives you all the bragging rights you’ll ever need. Look at the carved handles, which are much better than normal, and how thick the top and swing sides and writing surface are. Everything on this piece is much better quality than the average desk. Untitled Document Two Antique Roll Top Desk Nightstands 1940s These two roll top desks can be used as desks or nightstands. They have had very limited use as they have been in the guest room. Two appraisers agreed that this style originated from the 1920s. But based on the design and canvas used as a backing for the roll top, it is very likely that they were built in the 1940s. Under the roll top is a writing surface with 4 small open compartments and one large compartment. One of the drawers was missing all parts except for the front of the drawer. That drawer was rebuilt using similar wood and the design of the period to match the other drawer. No glues were used on the rebuilt drawer to match the construction of the first drawer. One of the backs was replaced before we received them. The unit with the replacement back has a top that sticks. ... moreWe believe the back was originally removed to correct this. Outstanding Victorian walnut cylinder desk. This intricately detailed piece has definite Eastlake influences including a decorative grid pattern that borders the panelled sides and back and elaborate scroll decoration below the writing surface. Cylinder top conceals pigeon holes and a pull-out writing surface covered in emerald green felt. Brass hinges. Diamond-shaped escutcheons and rosette-mounted bail handle drawer pulls. One long shallow top drawers as well as three half-size drawers and a generous cabinet space. Dowel construction throughout including the drawers, top and back. The locking mechanisms in the drawers have two patent dates- April, 1875 and August, 1882. No maker's marks. Over all this piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. Hinges, Hardware ~ Circa 1890-1900 Unit Measures 50” x 43 ½” x 26” ~ Stored in Smoke-Free Home This is a once-restored antique oak roll-top watchmaker’s or jeweler’s bench from between the 1890’s or 1900 or so. It is in very good condition and shows normal wear and tear for it’s age—over a decade—100 plus years. As shown in the photos. There are also some surface scratches, dings, paint speckles, and staining on the canvas catch cloth. This lovely watchmaker’s bench has nine drawers. Two deep cabinets or cupboards with doors, two drop down oak sides, and a canvas catch drawer. All original drawer pulls, hooks, hinges, hardware, and the canvas catch are intact and fully functioning. Each side drops down by unhooking hooks to provide an even larger tabletop surface which measures 60” across. One of the cupboard enclosures was specifically designed to house watchmaking and jeweler’s tools; the other enclosed the flywheel for the treadle. Let me start by saying that this desk has been professionally restored to it's original grandeur.There are lovely raised panels everywhere. Even the inside of the opening for the desk chair. The inside of all the drawers look as good as the two you see in the picture. A beautiful antique roll top desk in great condition for the age. This desk measures 48.25" high at the back center. It has a width of 49.5" and a depth of 31.5" The kneehole height is 27.25" to the bottom of the cross board and the width is 29" The bottom section of the desk has four small drawers on the right side with a pullout writing surface above it. The right side has two small drawers above a larger file drawer. The divider board in this drawer is broken. There is also a pullout writing surface abov this bank of drawers. Only one of the other six drawers has a divider section in it. The remaining pieces are missing. There is a locking mechanism on the bottom section. It is a little sticky. All of the drawers have decorative fan style handles made from wood. The top section has various sized cubbies and only ... moreone drawer. There are also some surface scratches, dings, paint speckles, and staining on the canvas catch cloth. This lovely watchmaker’s bench has nine drawers. Two deep cabinets or cupboards with doors, two drop down oak sides, and a canvas catch drawer. The roll-top piece works well, rolls easily, and engages a set of drawer locks when closed. We do not have a key. The unit measures 50” H x 43 ½” W x 26” D. Workbench height is 39” from the ground. All wood is solid oak. This bench has a tambour shaped roll-top that completely covers the work area when closed. Each side drops down by unhooking hooks to provide an even larger tabletop surface which measures 60” across. One of the cupboard enclosures was specifically designed to house watchmaking and jeweler’s tools; the other enclosed the flywheel for the treadle. What you see for sale is a very good quality 50" S-Roll top desk with raised panels and many cubbies and drawers inside. The desk is in very good condition having been professionally restored in the summer of 2012. The desk was fully stripped and sanded and then restained. The desk was made by the Gunn MFG Company in Grand Rapids. MI. For a little history on The Gunn Company read below. Measurements are 50"W 35"D 50"H. Gunn Furniture Co.s history can be traced back to 1874. When William S. Gunn started selling furniture at his Grand Rapids hardware store. In 1890 he incorporated his own manufacturing firm, the Gunn Folding Bed Co. Because the popularity of folding beds was waning fast, three years later he changed his company's name to the Gunn Furniture Co. and started making desks, bookcases, files and other office ... morefurniture. The woods he used included walnut, oak and mahogany. The firm was sold in 1953 to Bergsma Brothers, Inc. also of Grand Rapids. Bergsma Brothers closed in 1985. So that means. Here is the best SOLID OAK antique American roll top desk I have seen in many years. It was recently purchased from a local estate of a woman who had been in the antique business since the 1960's. I remember visiting her shop which was super interesting with lots of nooks and crannies filled with beautiful and out of the ordinary mostly American antiques. This desk was purchased in 1969 by a man who ended up as her husband and it remained in their family until now. Apparently. As the story goes, he was a student then and could not afford to buy the desk so he worked it off by doing odd jobs and helping around the shop. Everything is original from the finish to the locking system for the drawers and lock set and sliding locking mechanism for the top to the castors to the drawer slides to the fabric on the tambour door to the hardware and ... moredrawer pulls. There are four drawers with the shell carved handles on one side and three drawers and four handles on the other side as the bottom drawer is the double door. This is a good looking golden oak desk with one four drawer bank of drawers on the right. It measures 36" wide. 43" high, and 28" from front to back. It is mostly solid oak accept the upper sides are veneered. In the picture the rich golden oak stain and grain is evident. There are three slits on the side-left where the veneer has buckled, and a mark on the intact upper right side of the desk that has a slight black discoloration. There are a few chips on the inside right of the roll-top side that has occurred, otherwise the desk is clean and rich in style. There are two interior 9.5" drawers at the upper desk with numerous open compartments. The four larger drawers measure 10" wide by 20" deep. for auction is a wonderful solid quartersawn oak roll top desk. this desk has no veneers and the quartersawn oak flake is as good as i have ever seen or owned. an old man. Long dead, who dealt in many many roll top desk told me that if you had a desk with a 5 digit inventory number that is was made by stickley and brandt. at any rate i would stake a good bit on his opinion. the stamped in inventory no. on this desk is 18173. regardless of who made this desk, it is top quality material and workmanship. the desk is 50 inches tall with a s waterfall top with a tambur that rolls and moves with great ease, no stopping, catching, jamming, etc. it rolls like butter. the other dimensions are, it is 50 inches wide and 32 inches deep. the desk top is 30 inches from the floor. it has the original key cover plate and strike plate on the desk top writing ... moresurface. the old lock has lost it's guts so i replaced the lock. anyway the top will lock if you choose to do so. it has a wonderful set of cubbies, complete with two pencil holders, i forgot to open for pictures and one drawer with a carved pull. i expect there may have been another drawer on the other side that has fell by the wayside somewhere and time in the last 120 years. the remainder of the cubby holes are as they should be. they were never designed for drawers and the openings are a good bit smaller than the ones that would accept a drawer. it has 4 drawers of wonderful construction on the left bank of the cabinet portion, most of which contain dividers. the right bank consists of three drawers, the bottom is a double drawer suited for file folders, it has a divider long ways down the center. i also forgot to open the drawers for pictures. i have used the 12 pictures ebay allows, but if anyone want pictures of the inside of the drawers or anything else i will be glad to send them to you. the drawers all have carved pulls in mint condition. underneath the desk top are four scotch and secure blocks which slide into a groove about 1/2 inch below the top part of the

Believe this is RIFT not QUARTER SAWN OAK. It is an"S" style desk, most likely mfg. between 1890 and 1900, notice the hand done dovetailing on the and the carved drawer handles. The locks on the tambour and center drawer are from Corbin Cabinet and Lock Company. It was disassembled in the late 60's and completely refinished. This desk has 2 Pull Out writing surfaces. And is 60"L 32"W 49"H and consists of 6 pieces; 2 Pedestals, Tambour section, desk top insert, and the lower back connecting section between the 2 Pedestals(many of the desks shown here don't have this) Desk is panel sided. It has accessories- they are in need of repair/refurbishing. There is a brass swivel ink-well/pencil holder in the center. One of the ink well rings(1 of 3) is gone. It screws to back. And lost screw. Needs to be short so it won't interfere with the roll-top when it is open. There is 4 letter sized drawers. Two have need of handle repair. There are two perfectly good"secret" pencil/pen holders disguised as corner molding. All the slots are long. And they are all there and work fine- great for organizing reciepts! There is a leather hanging trash bin. Which used to fit under the desk, but the leather has disintegrated and needs to be replaced. Canvas would work fine. The holder to hang it with is missing, but when it was there, the whole system was very NICE and I loved it! All the drawers have adjustable slim pieces of wood to change the shape of the interior. NO RESERVE For Auction is this antique Oak"S" Curve Roll Top Desk. Single Pedestal. Made by the"Indianapolis Cabinet Co. Indianapolis, Ind. The lock on the desk top is dated 1884. There is no lock inside the key hole/lock compartment. It has recessed panels on both sides and back. The Roll Top slides up and down. Not a smooth slide. You have to hold both handles to open and close. It tends to stick when sliding. The flat surface of the desk appears to have been refinished at one time and it has a brownish stain on the desk. The top portion of the desk sets on the base. It does not bolt into the base. There are signs of wear in the form of scratches. Chips to the wood and repairs that I tried to show in the many photos. Believe this to be a 19th century child's roll top desk. Very beautiful detailing and design. All wood. Three compartments inside roll top, along with tongue& grove wood framed slate chalk board(slides/removable) and wood drawer. It is in wonderful condition for its age. Please see pictures. Desk measures approximately 24" x 13" x 36" It does appear that a child did write on bottom right corner of slate with black marker. Oak 1910 Antique Paneled Roll Top Desk. 25 Drawers. A classic"S" curve roll top desk from about 1910 is boldly grained quarter sawn oak and has 25 drawers of various sizes. The rich brown finish is in excellent condition. With a few mars at the edges for antique character. Paneled sides and back are distinguished. Under the smooth sliding roll top are drawers and cubicles. Letter and pencil holders. There is a locking compartment plus mail slots in both sides. Two pull out shelves afford extra workspace. Deep lower drawers have dovetailed joints. There is a file drawer on this American made working office furniture. Antique Walnut Roll Top Desk - $499 (pick up only in Plymouth, Michigan)
This desk was built by Standard Furniture Company. Herkimer NY. The dimensions are: 50" wide, 32" deep, 43.5" tall. As far as I can tell, everything is original and the desk is in very good condition. The lock on the roll top bears the name Standard and still has the original key. The center drawer has a label inside it indicating that the desk is walnut and was built by Standard Furniture Co. The center drawer also has the remnants of the Standard Furniture Company's official seal, with an eagle in the center. Some of the walnut veneer has come off, especially on the lower legs and on the front left side of the roll top frame. I will not ship the desk. You must pick it up in Plymouth. Michigan 48170.

Antique 'Honest Banker' Country Store Counter Top Small Roll Top Desk Wood
This'Honest Banker' Small Roll Top Desk came out of an old country store here in rural WV that has long been closed. It was used on the old store counter along with a small display case its size. The roll works well and it has a desk area inside along with cubby holes to hold receipts and papers. It is not perfect and has scratches and dings consistant with years of use. The finger hold on the roll is well worn. There is one chip out down the left side beside the roll. None of this detracts from this very old country primitive item. I do not know the wood but the roll looks like oak. I don't think the desk is oak. The wood has a reddish brown color. The brass plate at the bottom has'Honest Banker' Desk measures 20 1/2" across. 15" wide and 10 1/2" tall. I think you will like this country store item.
